A fun and funky place not only for it’s location, but for the vintage jewelry that she has. Jackie helps with her personality. She was very helpful since her booth is a bit crowded with product. That is actually a good thing but hard for someone in a wheelchair to navigate. I loved the place and if it had been more easily navigable, it would have gotten a 5 star, but is absolutely a place to visit, if you are into funky jewelry

I wandered into City Market for a bit of shopping therapy during the convention season which brought me to Indianapolis. I didn’t know exactly what I was seeking, but I certainly found it at Jackie Jay. Her open stall is an oasis in the bubbling atmosphere that thrives between food vendors, tiny cafes, florists, and artisans. The magnificent brick and glass market makes a fine backdrop for the shelves laden with pretty jewelry and fluttering scarves, dainty hats, and all those accessories necessary to finish off an outfit. Jackie Jay intercepted me admiring a turquoise wooden-beaded waterfall necklace, and an amber spray piece. Both eye-catching necklaces were displayed on long-necked mannequins for maximum effect and sported pairs of earrings. After five years in Chicago, I’ve come to expect such lovely things to sport dangling price tags of $ 50, $ 70, $ 90. I don’t even bother anymore in some places, for as soon as the«vintage» or «estate» appellation applies, it’s out of my price range. Let’s just say I was brought down from the stratosphere in Indy. I regret now I didn’t pick up both. I was loving the bright, colourful assortment of tasteful jewelry in multiple styles — from bohemian to classic, mod to art deco — all gathered from estate sales, adapted from vintage purchases, and more. Jackie was excited to describe the origins for various pieces, sharing these great finds and their history. It matters to me where my treasured gems come from; the story and the past are both part of the delight. I walked out with one great, eye-catching necklace that earns numerous compliments. I’m going to be back as soon as I’m in Indy again, and all those shinies are *mine!*
