History

Established in 1921.

Kermans was founded by Robert J. Benjamin, born in 1896 in the northwest city of Rezaiyeh, Persia. He made his way to the United States at the age of 16, with no money or knowledge of the English language, young Mr. Benjamin was determined to start a new life. He married in 1921, and started Kerman Oriental Rug Company the same year.

By the 1960s, Benjamin’s three sons were also working in the family business and Kermans Oriental Rug Company became Kermans Fine Flooring as it expanded to become a complete floor covering business and one of the premier flooring stores in the state of Indiana.

Today, Kermans is run by the third generation of the Benjamin family. The foundation of Kermans remains quality, service and a rich tradition of values that stands strong even in the midst of an ever-changing market.

Meet the Business Owner

Dave A.

Business Owner

Vice President/Co-Owner of Kermans Fine Flooring

I graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Business Administration. As a member of the family, I joined Kermans in 1996. My partner, Mike Benjamin and I are focused on providing a level of customer service unparalleled in our industry. The favorite part of my job is witnessing the satisfaction of our customers. We are by no means perfect and mistakes can happen, but how we respond to our customers if an error occurs makes us stand out in this industry. We are all about customer satisfaction.

My time away from Kermans involves church and family. I am privileged to serve on several boards of directors and am actively engaged in my church’s outreach to the urban community. In my spare time, I love a good game of golf.
