Leo’s Pet Care

This is Bella’s doctor. We have the vaccine for life and that has saved us so much money. But, after a trip to my groomer yesterday, she made a recommendation of shampoo and conditioner for her really dry skin. I called Dr. Magnusson and asked him about it. He went above and beyond to get it this prescription that is only available thru Banfield Pet Hospital. We love Leo’s.

First time customer– My fur-​babies, especially Peyton during her dental surgery, were very well cared for. She is healing really nicely. I enjoyed the friendly staff and will come back for all our needs.

Staff was great. All were kind to my little fur baby. Excited to have a place that will be ‘home’ for my dog, the vaccinations for life is a great benefit any veterinarian could offer to their clients. :)

Dr. Magnusson is wonderful. He really listens to what is going on with your pet, asks a lot of questions to get to the bottom of the problem, and thoroughly explains his diagnosis and how to treat the problem. On top of that, you leave feeling like he truly cares about the health of your dog and is not trying to just get as much money as he can out of you. Both times I have visited his office he has discussed with me the best treatment for my dog at the best price. I have recommended Leo’s Pet Care to multiple friends and would recommend it to anyone looking for a vet!

Leo’s is great. We did not have a vet since taking in two adult cats 6 months ago and recently had a pet emergency with one of the cats. I checked out Unilocal reviews and other sources and balanced the reviews with proximity to my home (the cat does not like to be in the car) and Leo’s came out on top. I called and easily made an appointment for the next morning, printed paperwork from their website and completed it at home to save in-​office time and was treated warmly (both my pet and I) by the staff. Both the tech and the vet were great — listened to the problem and provided a thoughtful and budget-​friendly solution. Our cat is now on the mend. We’ll be back for additional care — shots and the like!

Full disclosure… Leo’s Pet Care is not my current vet clinic. I was going to switch to them a few years ago, because I had a great professional relationship with Dr. Magnusson while working at WTHR. Dr. Magnusson is caring and intelligent, and he was actually the one who told me not to switch vets if I wasn’t unhappy with the care I was already receiving.
All that said, when emergencies arise, Dr. Magnusson is always there (at all hours) to answer my questions via email, phone, or social media. He’s been an excellent second opinion when I’ve had concerns about my cats.
In October, he really went above and beyond to help me through one of the hardest months of my life. One of my cats was diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Magnusson talked with me about my options, and when the day came to say goodbye, Dr. Magnusson and one of his staff members came to my house to put my little girl to sleep. Saying goodbye to a pet is horrible, but having someone who knows you and cares so much about animals there to help you through such a tragedy is so very valuable.
I’ve recommended Dr. Magnusson to many of my friends, and I recommend him and the rest of the staff at Leo’s Pet Care to all of you. If I ever decide to leave my current vet, I’ll definitely become a client at Leo’s Pet Care.

We found Leo’s through online reviews (on Unilocal) and realized it’s just down the street from us, so we thought we’d give them a chance when our darling pup, Stella, wouldn’t stop shaking her head (an mighty ear infection, indeed).
Dr. M was great — he helped us understand what all was going on with Stella and answered all of our questions without making us feel like newbies in the pet parent world.
I can’t speak to how their prices compare to other places, but I don’t care, because we trust Leo’s.

My husband and I brought our first puppy home in September 2013. We found Leo’s Pet Care through the great reviews on the Indy A-​List and also by following Dr. M’s Twitter account. The first time I called, I was expecting a wait to get an appointment for my pup, but they were able to fit him in the very next day. I’ve been so impressed by the staff’s professionalism and compassion ever since. They are always on the lookout for what’s going to benefit my dog’s health and well-​being — I feel like I can trust the staff’s judgment and recommendations on what will be best for him rather than feeling pressured to go in a certain direction. I highly recommend Leo’s Pet Care if you’re looking for a vet that will treat your pet as their own!

Great crew! Doctor and staff are always very helpful and knowledgable. We just moved to the area from out of state and we’re lucky to find them. I have an old lab and a puppy and both have needed to get in quickly for different reasons. They could always accommodate us. I highly recommend!

After our move from Vermont to Indianapolis, we were establishing a new vet, getting vaccines up to date and doing a well visit.
Based on our experience, we will keep Leo’s Pet Care as our vet for our Sheltie, Maddie. Things I liked:
— before we went to the exam room, I knew what the estimate for the day’s charges was going to be.
— Maddie was treated well with gentle hands.
— When I had something to ask or add, I felt that everyone I would talk to was listening.
— I came in with my two kids (2 & 4). They were good, but still they were two kids with a lot of questions and movement. The staff was very good to them.
This is a great place who will care greatly for your pet!

First I want to say I had extremely high expectations for coming to this place with it being the #1 recommended on the Indy-​A-​List. First impression with the vet staff showed to be good but it all changed with Dr. Magnusson. During the entire appointment I was not able to see any compassion or empathy in his character (empathy can be given in a bold manor, I understand that). Initially he seemed to be very thorough and informative which is what I was looking for with this being the 4^th vet I have been to for an answer. The only thing I will give him credit for is referring us to an incredible surgeon and nothing other than that. We were only referred because he gave us 2 options, either have them do X-​rays (and still not make a determination of what should be done), or get referred to a surgeon. None of his advise was accurate or honest. I do not appreciate him telling me my dog who is 2.5 years old would have a lame leg for the rest of his life and that no surgeon would want to operate on him due to both his age and that his leg had been bothering him for 4 months (not on purpose I was shipped out of state for work) this was the 4^th vet visited and surprisingly Banfield was the most accurate in their advise and conclusion but they recommended a surgeon who wasn’t certified and never took x-​rays. The first vet said nothing was wrong, the second vet said it was his acl (banfield), the 3^rd vet said it was just a minor sprain and it would get better without any extra attention other than rimadyl for inflammation). He never answered my moms question when she asked if he had any suggestions of what we could do to him him being an active dog (red healer) just walked out of the room and never even showed appreciation for us coming there, with it being our first visit. His character and personality were not compassionate not to mention I met with the surgeon yesterday morning with Rosko and never once did he question his age or the length of time the problem in his knee had been going on. He never raised a flag on any part of my pups situation and treated him like his own. Surgery was performed and completed yesterday and all went great. I am so thankful I did not listen to Dr. Magnussons advice, because if I would have, Rosko would not have had surgery and be expected to make a 95% recovery (which to a dog is 100%). Needless to say, I will not return nor will I refer anyone to this clinic to have their animal treated. This review is not in anger or frustration, it is to say that my 2.5 year old dog would have stayed on Rimadyl and had a limp leg his entire life if I would not have stated I would like to be referred to a surgeon (someone who calls the shots). My guess is that patients with situations that cannot be solved at his clinic, he treats differently than those that can be. I am not one to get upset over bold truth spoken, but when I find out that what was spoken wasn’t honest, that brings a little uneasiness.

My wife and I needed a new vet, after our old vet retired. We checked Leo’s on the advice of a friend, and… I’m not sure I’ve ever said this before… if I could give MORE than 5 stars I would.
Every interaction with Dr. M, and his staff, was nothing but caring and compassionate, towards both us, and our pets. Everything is explained in layman’s terms, and we’ve never felt «pushed»…they simply lay the facts out and allow us to make our own decisions. They’re a welcome addition to Indianapolis.

We’ve been taking our pets to see Dr. M. For over 2 years now. We switched from our former vet and have been thrilled with the switch. Dr. M. Is easily accessible and seems to really care about each pet. I love that it’s a smaller practice because it allows both pets and owners to establish a good rapport with the staff. They always have appointments available and really work hard to accommodate all pets that need care. We consider the staff as part of our extended family and they never disappoint in amazing vet care and services! You must sign up for the free vaccines for life program! It really saves a lot of money!

My beloved dog, Luna needed to get into the vet ASAP and our regular doctor was on a wait list so I decided to give Leo’s a call. They got her in the next day, were extremely kind, and gave her plenty of treats to ease the process.
I was very pleased with the visit and would recommend Leo’s Pet Care to others!

Just took my pup in to see Dr M. for the first time this week. He (and his staff) are very accommodating and pleasant. He is very knowledgeable and genuinely cares about the experience of your pet.
He was extremely helpful and has the best ‘bed-​side’ manner I’ve seen in a Vet. I have officially switched my vet to Leo’s and will recommend to all I know!

After going here a couple of times, most recently with a sick kitty, I’m convinced that Leo’s is one of the best small-​animal vets in Indy. He is as good with his human clients as he is with the furry clients, and I appreciate the customer care I receive from all staff members.
Thankfully they were able to squeeze us in before the end of the day, and even offered to keep the cat overnight, free of charge, to get all the tests they needed. I thought that was really cool. All of the cat’s medical info was on file from our previous visits and made sure to update the records since we were in. Doc Magnusson also had really good insight into how to make life better for the kitty until he started ‘feeline’ fine. C’mon, I had to…
I will absolutely be coming back, thanks for the great service and flexible scheduling.

I met Dr. Greg first on Twitter, later at a Social46 event downtown and I really liked him. After my last experience with my previous vet I decided that I really needed to find someone new to take care of Tucker my new rescue. So, we chose to go see Dr. Greg and his team and could not be happier.
They are great with Tucker, the team is so friendly and helpful. But the new test came on Nov 2^nd, on my birthday I came home from a trip to find my kitty very ill. I took her in to examined right away. Unfortunately she had to be put to sleep, there was no cure for her illness. It was so hard.
But, never have I been treated with such kindness and compassion but the entire team. They explained what was wrong, what the options were and were really honest that they could do all kinds of things to try to same Ms Kitty but bottom line she was not going to live. They allowed my all the time I needed and allowed me to hold her as she left. I was one of the hardest decisions to make and to stay and hold her. This team was great, and I can never thank them enough for their kindness, their honesty and their patients.
BTW, I drive from 21^st street East all the way to 106^th St North that is how much I like this clinic. And you will too, they are the best.

I needed a new vet for my two kitties after moving to Broad Ripple, so I did what any dedicated Unilocaler would do: scour the reviews for the best vet around. All signs pointed directly to Dr. Maggnuson.
Before I even stepped foot in his office I was impressed. I liked Leo’s Pet Care on facebook and was happy to see frequent posts with helpful information about pet care. After following for a few weeks, I made an appointment. As a new patient, my cat’s first exam fee was waived. You can’t beat that!
Leo’s Pet Care offers a special where you can get vaccines for the life of your pet for one low rate. I saw it advertised at $ 69, but when I got there I was charged $ 89. I was a bit miffed, but since I got the exam for free I didn’t press the issue.
They were able to get my Uli in for an annual exam quickly. Anni and Dr. Maggnuson took good care of her, and comforted her while she received two vaccines. I was impressed with how gentle Dr. Maggnuson was with my cat. I’ve had some pretty rough vets, but he came off as very caring.
I am very happy to have found my new vet! It’s worth the extra drive for me (there are two vets within a 5 minutes drive of my home) because Leo’s Pet Care is a new and growing business. Dr. Maggnuson obviously wants to attract new patients and keep their pet’s happy! I will tell everyone about the great service I received at Leo’s Pet Care!

One thing that Dr. Magnusson did that we really appreciated was call us after leaving a late night message about our dog vomiting after he had been given a shot. One of the things we didn’t like was when Dr. Magnusson didn’t meet with us before our dog’s neuter to tell us what to expect and didn’t greet us after to tell us how everything went. We also were charged for teeth to be removed during the procedure. Our dog did heal nicely, however, and we had no problems after. We did voice our concerns about the neuter and have received great care for our dog ever since. We chose Leo’s because of all of the rave reviews online. We have found the vet techs to be very friendly and the office to be clean. Our dog is not afraid to visit his doctor, and that makes us happy. Dr. Magnusson seems very knowledgeable and always had an answer to our questions.

Hands down the best vet in Indy. Dr. Magnusson is the best! Staff is very helpful and friendly. The place is very clean and he has all the bells and whistles when it comes to having the best equipment to do the job! We actually found him on Twitter and from reading his blogs we quickly discovered how knowledgeable he was with animal care. The fact that he is so accessible is a plus. If we ever have a question we can shoot him a message on Twitter and he will promptly respond. We love Leo’s pet care and our furbabies do too! Well… I at least like to think they appreciate him :)
