If you’re looking for a no frills, no fuss watering hole, this is the place. My hubby and I were on the hunt for a rare craft beer and he had heard from a friend that Lockerbie Pub just might have it. Upon entering, I was immediately surprised with how clean it looked. It’s dimly lit with just a few people sitting at the bar watching the two TV’s mounted on the wall. In the back, a group of younger people sit next to a pool table while they enjoy their late night bites. James was behind the bar — this guy is a quiet, gentle Jesus with more power than he knows he has. It’s here that you will find rare beers that people travel from MI to find… we got to chat with him a bit and found out that he loves beer(duh!) and he really loves getting together with local breweries to come up with selections that haven’t been discovered yet. For a late night drink and a laid back atmosphere, visit Lockerbie Pub and strike up a convo with the barkeep ;)

Fantastic. The meat loaf sandwich was out of this world. Bringing my wife back to this place for a unbelievable lunch.

No doubt about it… the best neighborhood/hang out pub in downtown Indy… Good, local food and beers at über-reasonable prices…(a lot less than Mass. Ave. a couple of blocks away…) a great place to hang out with friends, watch games, have lunch/dinner/snacks, play pool or darts, sip a shaken martini, read a newspaper or just relax for a while… Always nice people here and local owners are very good people who are usually close at hand taking care of customers… Lockerbie Pub is the real deal and has been part of Lockerbie community for decades. No national chain or McPub monkey business here… A genuine local, friendly pub with good food and good people… It’s been my local pub for a long time… Grab your group and come on over to Lockerbie… All are welcome!!!

Chill atmosphere and staff. Good beer selection, and good sandwiches — turkey burger recommended. Oh, and the TOTS! Make sure you order the tater tots with Old Bay… game-changer. Highly recommended if you’re in the area and look for a low-key beer/meal.

Nice little bar. We came here because we wanted to play darts, pool, and watch March Madness. which we were able to do all 3! This was great because we had about 10 people altogether and could hang out without a huge, noisy crowd. Fun bartenders, too!

Some days, I want to have a drink at home with friends, but also want to be out on the town among strangers too. This mysteriously conflicting combination is possible at Lockerbie Pub, a neighborhood dive with exactly what you need and not a thing more. Enough TVs to watch the game, but not too big, not too loud, and not too many. You’ve got darts, pool, and games, but far enough from the booths and tables that they don’t dominate the space. The bar is well-stocked and versatile, but nothing’s crafty and nothing’s confusing. You can always find something you want to eat, but nothing you need to bother writing home about. Unfrilled bars like Lockerbie Pub are ever more refreshing as Mass Ave grows increasingly crowded with cutting-edge gastropubs. I love pretentious food and drink as much as the next Unilocal Elite, but some days, I really just want straightforward beer, straightforward food, and a straightforward space. Show up, eat, drink, watch, chat, and go home. Who could ask for anything more?

Local Pub has been the standard for decades in Lockerbie. Great service and food makes this place one I have visited for over twenty years. You can’t beat the daily specials and the Sun King Beer Battered Fish on Frida is a must. They also make one of the best tenderloins in Indiana. Grab some friends and visit soon, tell Jen and James hello for me.

No frills pub food… but it’s gooood stuff. A guge part of the experience is the ambiance. You can feel the history in this place. It has been a dark little pub for as long as I can remember. The clientele is a wide ranging group from dirty construction workers to polished business men. The menu is mainly comprised of classic grill and bar food. Some vegetarian options are available.

Short drive from Sunking Brewery. Divey… but easy to park, good food, and good value. Not a ton of choice on tap, but at least 1 – 2 craft or local. Some daily specials for food. Stew is good. Probably not a place you take a date if you are trying to impress them, but a chill place to hang out with friends. Hamburger plate is also good. Better than average bar food.

Awesome pub trip with Indy Runners after a run. Enjoyed a cappuccino stout and chicken quesadilla. I highly recommend! Tv’s galore with all the games and a jukebox. Seemed to have a nice variety of beers and a full bar. Everything was reasonably priced. Staff was friendly and accommodated our big group!

I tried to order food and was told the kitchen closes at 11. So I checked my phone and discovered it was 10:53. The bartender pointed at a clock on the wall set 15 minutes fast, and claimed pretty much every bar in Indianapolis sets their clock fast and goes by that instead of the actual time. Deliberately deceiving people is s pretty good way to get a 1 star review, and to not get my business.

By far the best breaded tenderloin in Indianapolis. Not pounded thin like others. Relatively thick; however still large. Matched up with the French fries and you have one of the best sandwich combos the city has to offer. If you want to mix it up a little go with the Chicken Lockerbie this is a can’t miss sandwich. We’ve been going to Lockerbie for over 20 years, and have never had a bad meal

Love this place. If you’re away from home and want a place that feels like home, this is it. Good food. Good drinks. Great bartenders. I might move to Indy for this bar. Love.

Nothing to not like about Lockerbie. If you want a nice cocktail or a nice, cold draft… This is your spot. I mean, really, the available options are astounding. They have daily specials like the meatloaf sandwich. If you’ve read my bio, you would know my fascination for meatloaf.(my wife makes amazing meatloaf) Small, quaint bit just about everything you need. Show up for lunch or just because. They never disappoint.

Initially, a snap judgment of Lockerbie Pub conjures up feelings of angst. My eyes and nose tell me I’m back in my small, cornfield-surrounded town and walked into a dingy townie bar that has a faint smell of grease and something stale. Nothing good will come of this. Sitting back in a black, vinyl chair that you only seem to find at VFW’s and Moose Lodge’s, I fear that the only thing on tap begins with«Bud» and ends with«Light», and craft beer means a bottle of Blue Moon… with no orange slice. Luckily, the chalk board on the wall tells me otherwise. The draft list has Sun King, Scarlet Lane, Taxman, Urban Chestnut, and Lagunitas. Saved… but still skeptical… and half convinced that someone from high school who considers high school«the best four years of my life» is going to sit at the bar. The menu is standard bar food, complete with burgers, sandwiches, fries, and fried munchies. I’m going to be as basic as my paper place mat and get the tenderloin. Questions always arise in between ordering and eating, because I hate wasting my calories on bland, wimpy food, and often times these types of establishments leave me with feelings of regret. Was it taken out of a freezer pre-made and thrown into the fryer, or was it tenderized properly and hand-breaded first? Is there any love and pride in this representation of our state sandwich? Should I have forgone eating and stayed famished? One slider version of the sandwich later, I am relieved to say that I made the right choice with Lockerbie’s tenderloin. It was hammered down to the right size and not too thin, hand-tossed, coated with the right ratio of meat: breading, and fried so that the meat stayed juicy yet firm and the breading had a crunch to it. I would hope that this would get a thumbs up from the Tenderloin Connoisseur too. Better yet, I had some pretty fabulous fried pickles in a secret dipping sauce in between my bites of tenderloin. The characteristics of my pickles were quite similar to the tenderloin: juicy yet firm pickle, breading with a crunch. Nothing the least bit soggy on my plate! So I may have overreacted walking into the Lockerbie Pub. I later found out that the pub aims for sense of familiarity and coziness, like one big living room where everybody knows everybody. I’ll try to keep that in mind the next time I get invited to my hometown VFW. Still, it’s going to be hard going knowing there’s a classic, Hoosier-loving tenderloin and fried pickle chips on Michigan Ave. calling out my name.

This was our last bar to try last night. It was about 1:00 am so the typical crowd for that late at night was there. The place seemed nice but when we walked in they said that they weren’t going table service & to order at the bar. The bar was crowded so we sat in a booth. They had music playing and the typical bar/pub things there to do i.e. Dart board pool table. I had the Cosmo. It was very good but I’ve had better. We sat near the window so had a good view for people watching. I believe the Leather Room was next door. Fun evening.

The Indianapolis Star states«Lockerbie Pub(631 E. Michigan St.). They have the best fried pickles in the universe, and I’m considered a fried pickle aficionado — plus they’re really inexpensive. This hole-in the– wall pub is a great place to kick back and meet new people. Bonus: Monday night is trivia night. Super fun.»

Lot’s of back slapping young ‘professionals?’ here during early evening hours. Not sure of those are the regulars or not but they seemed to be having a great time. This place lends itself for you to get rowdy, have some grub(none of which is outstanding but decent) and chill at the small bar or stake out a table. Decent selection on tap too. The over-talked about ever present PBR(does anyone realize this beer tasted like poo 30 years ago when our dad’s drank it?) is there too. The societal trend of anti-metros are always present too, outstanding beards men!

Nice laid back place, lunch favorite. Stiff drinks, Whiskey, fried pickles and Jennifer are the best! I’ve had other food that is great, but I get the pickles EVERY time. Loaded potato skins, turkey sandwich, and several other things are a highlight. Great for a quick drink, lunch, evening drink, or jump starting a drunken bender:)
