Mass Ave Animal Clinic

I recently took my cat to MAAC for the first time. It’s a nice, clean facility and very convenient for people who live downtown (they even have a parking lot and are open on weekends). I found the staff to be really accommodating in person and over the phone — I had worries about vaccine induced sarcomas in my cat and they were happy to tell me what type of vaccines they use and split up vaccinations over multiple appointments. The staff treated my cat very well once at the clinic and even offered me refreshments while I waited! The price was very reasonable and I would much rather spend a little extra money to schedule an appointment than wait at FACE for an extensively long time.
I’m removing a star because they were a little less informed than I’d like a vet clinic to be… I asked if they use the Merial PUREVAX 3 year rabies vaccine and they told me that doesn’t exist (it does by the way
) and only the 1 year vaccine is available. It just worries me that I was more aware of vaccine options after a quick google search than an actual vet clinic. Also, my cat is strictly indoors and does not come in contact with cats of unknown background, so when I explored their site and saw the vaccine recommendation sheet (
) saying I would only need the rabies vaccine, I was pleasantly surprised that they don’t encourage unnecessary vaccinations. But once at the clinic, they did schedule me for the distemper vaccination without mentioning the possibility of not needing it and I didn’t want to argue so I just went with it (plus my cat was given his vaccinations before 16 weeks old so they may not be as effective as possible and the 1 year booster is probably a good idea). Also this may sound like I’m splitting hairs, but the distemper vaccine they use is FVRCP-​C (added chlamydiosis vaccine), not just FVRCP like it says on the website and I think it’s important that they are as accurate as possible because some people may not want any added, non-​core vaccines even if it is in the same shot.
So all in all, I might just be a crazy cat lady who does way too much research but I would definitely still recommend MAAC as my only problems with them were with fairly small details.

Coming from another city, I doubted I could find a vet for my dear Boudreaux cat that I loved as much as the one I left. I asked for suggestions from some locals, and many people recommended Mass Ave Animal Clinic for their affordable, high quality care. The suggestions were spot on!
I was able to get an appointment after «normal business hours,» which was crucial for me. Although it was on the later side, the process was not at all rushed. They even contacted my old vet on the spot to get my cat’s information that I forgot to bring (oops!). Both the vet tech and the vet were personable, friendly, and informative. Although my «monster» was truly living up to his nickname, looking like a rabid raccoon when they gave him his shot, they took all of it in stride. They even brought him the in-​house cat’s snacks, as Boo apparently only enjoys very low quality junk food (no fancy, expensive Greenies for him!). The next day, they emailed to follow up. Their prices were fairly affordable (about $ 30 more than the FACE clinic, at which you cannot make an appointment and may wait 2 – 3 hours for services — in my opinion, totally worth it for the calm, clean environment).
I also appreciate they have free parking despite being right off a busy street.

We love MAAC! I am a very protective cat mom and do not take their health and wellbeing lightly. The doctors and techs truly care about the wellbeing of our kitties and the prices are very reasonable! Our kitties love going to the vet and love the clinic cat as well! Dr. Glore is the best.

I’m pretty critical of healthcare experiences, whether they be with humans or pets… and this office is great from beginning to end! The staff scheduling appointments over the phone are extremely pleasant, and saved me the trouble of obtaining records from our dogs’ previous vet. One dog had a complicated condition, and Dr. Glore seemed very capable of taking care of new symptoms. All the techs are great with dogs and people and there’s never any guilt about not ordering tests on a 14 year old dog or the fact that I accidentally ran out of refills when I was pregnant with twins and totally overwhelmed. We’ve been 7 or 8 times now and someone always calls to follow up, and the doctor calls herself to discuss lab results.
Parking hasn’t been a problem. There’s a small lot just to the north, which almost always has a space or two open, and often there are free street spots right in front of the clinic. The exam rooms are always freshly cleaned and the décor is nice and modern… looks a lot like my house — I’m not sure if that says more about me or them :) Pricing is reasonable compared to the other 2 clinics we’ve visited in town, as well as those in Michigan and Texas.
We liked our last vet fine, but are kicking ourselves for driving 30 minutes each way when we could have literally been walking here the last 3 years. We really feel that they know us when we call, multiple staff ask about the other dog, the new babies, etc!

Found this vet after other clinics were too booked to see my cat right away. Very close to home, and very clean, professional service. Will definitely be going back. Very friendly staff, and was pleasantly surprised that it is very reasonably priced for being in such a central location. Staff really cares about your pet, and will follow up as needed to make sure that their treatment plans are working.

I’ve just moved to Indianapolis and this is the second vet I have visited. The staff members were friendly, but not as professional as I had hoped. They were also quite young, including the vet I saw.
I was told that they would need to sedate my cats just to trim their nails, yet my cats have had their nails trimmed at vets in Bloomington, Texas, and Israel nearly every month for their entire lives without needing sedation.
Rather than taking the time to get to know the cats – not to mention me, who spends a fortune on the little darlings – I was told that if I refused to sedate them I was welcome to go to another vet. I am disappointed.

Mass Ave animal clinic is amazing. The staff is extremely helpful and really puts a lot of effort in taking care of your animal like their own. Before bringing out pup in, I called the front desk and she answered some of my questions that saved me a trip up there. They also told me the price and cost of things up front. We all know how expensive the vet can be. This place is great and I will always bring my pets here :)
Also! Trip, Butler’s mascot and the Butler police dog come here. You know they’re trusted :)

CAUTION! … If you are looking for a vet to do regular check ups and shots, these guys have always appeared do a good job. The staff is very nice and they are easy to schedule appointments with. They operate a clean location and the resident cat is absolutely one of a kind.
All that being said, my most recent experience with my late cat, Fitz, at Mass Ave Animal Clinic is the reason for my caution. Fitz became very sick last week and it was clear that we might only have limited time with him. After being initially seen, it was a real hassle getting them to give us a clear plan of treatment or palliative care when we brought Fitz to their office last week. It took a fairly demanding phone call just to get the doctor to walk my wife and I through a plan and what our options were. My wife and I both love our pets and have been through end of life issues before… We understand there are no promises, however there are certain reasonable and professional expectations.
In the last step of the treatment plan with the vet, Fitz was given a B12 shot. He returned to us without the doctor saying anything. Fitz now had dilated pupils and was panting profusely. I asked if this was a normal reaction, and the technician said, «Yes.»
Twenty-​four hours passed with no change in symptoms. I called to touch base at 5:30PM (they close at 6:00PM) to see what was wrong. They said, «The doctor will call you back.» The Vet had not called, so I called back at 5:55PM and got the following response: «The doctor just left, if you would like to make an appointment in the morning, we can do that. The other option is taking Fitz to the Emergency Clinic.»
Fitz was in obvious pain and we felt the end was near. We took him to the Emergency Clinic and were told, ‘This was not a reaction to the B12 shot. This is what cats do when they are in severe abdominal distress.’ This really hurt my wife and me knowing that our pet had suffered so much and so needlessly his last day. Fitz was put to sleep on March 24… He was 7 years old.
We have never received a follow up call from Mass Ave to ask how Fitz is, what happened, or to offer condolences.
Please use caution if you decide to use these guys as your vet. Though they did a good job in the past with routine appointments and care, they really disappointed and hurt us when it counted most.
Fitz was just a cat to most people… but he was a part of our family and we loved him. We really cared for him and it really hurts to know our vet didn’t seem to share that love and care… That’s what vets are supposed to do.
We still have Wesley… a younger cat that is also part of our family. We will be vigilant in the future to only entrust his care to vets and clinics who share our love and concern. We will not be going back to Mass Ave Animal Clinic and will not recommend them to others who care about their smaller, furry, family members.

We’ve taken our dog here ever since we moved to Indianapolis in May 2013. The staff and doctors are extremely personable and friendly. I’ve always felt comfortable asking them questions and have always gotten honest, clear information from them. And, most importantly, my dog absolutely LOVES going to his appointments. I’ve never had a dog who likes going to the vet, so I feel like that really says something about MAAC.

We moved to the area last fall and my pup was finally due for her annual exam this weekend. Unilocal and location led my to this place and I’ll be sad if I have to move again and leave it. They are also open on Saturdays, which is a must for me. Also, the office is extremely neat and clean. The staff was all exceptionally friendly and listened to all my concerns.
The Doctor was fantastic as well. She address all my concerns and advise me of a range of options for each and her treatment recommendation. However, I never felt pressured to choose one versus the other. Her previous vet was very quick to put her on medication for anything.
Price were also very reasonable. Her exam, heart worm test and an anal gland expression came to just under $ 80. They have a $ 15 coupon on their website to use for next patients on their first exam :). They even have an office cat (Mac) that is adorable (and I’m not a cat person). Great vet, if you are in the area I highly recommend them.

They were so awesome… everyone was so jice. They took care of my Springer, explained everything and my options. I’m so glad I took him to them…

I was referred to Mass Ave Animal Clinic for my foster dog who needed some test done before I could put him in obedience school. They accommodated us fairly quickly and we had an appointment in a few days. I arrived 30 minutes early, found parking right in front (woo woo!) and called from my car to ask if we could be seen straightaway if they weren’t too backed up. They had no problem with this. Zeus loved them and they sent his results directly to the obedience school when I asked.
The entire staff is so friendly and professional. I’d definitely recommend anyone bring their dog here.

We and our five cats are big fans of Mass Ave Animal Clinic! They take excellent care of our little ones and treat us like friends. They always recognize us and know our cats’ names when we come in. They are thorough and honest with their checkups and always explain which treatments and extras are required versus preferred; I never feel pressured with an up-​sell.
The downtown location is very convenient, and the private parking lot is a great advantage, especially when trying to manage several carriers! I think the prices are fair and reasonable.

I have recently moved downtown close to Mass Ave and was looking for a vet to declaw my young cat. Since declawing is no minor matter, I looked all over town – north side and downtown – and was pleased to find and try Mass Ave Animal Clinic, which is within minutes of where I live. Not only did it have superb reviews, but much to my surprise, it was also the most reasonably priced! I called and, much to my surprise again, was able to get an appointment for the declaw within a couple of days. On the day of the appointment, I had excellent service and the whole thing in general went smoothly from dropping off my cat through a full recovery. It is safe to say that I will be bringing my cat back here in the future and will highly recommend the clinic to anyone looking for a good (and reasonably priced!) vet.
I should also mention that I grew up in Indianapolis and have had several pets with a couple of different vets over the years. I can say this was the best experience I have had with vets in the Indianapolis area.

The staff & the doctors are always very friendly and take excellent care of our pooches. The clinic cat, Mac, is a riot — sometimes I pop in just to visit with him, his tricks and antics will be sure to make you laugh.
We always feel like they are 100% honest, never try and up-​sell you, and truly care about the health of our pups. I highly recommend MAAC!
(Plus, they are involved with a lot of events/​philanthropy in the community!)

This is our main preferred vet. We have taken our cat here for the three out of four years we have had her. She is our first pet so when shes ever under the weather we kinda over panic but the staff keeps it all in check for us.
We have never had an experience that has been off putting. The staff is always extremely nice and the facility is very clean. We come each year for a yearly check up and have been a couple times for a under the weather kitty and every time it’s a pleasant experience.
The first place we ever took her for here first checkup was extremely expensive. I’m always so shocked at how much we can get done with tests, medicine and such and spend so little.
It’s a little haul for us to get there but 100% worth it.
I recommend them to everyone.

I love Mass Ave Animal Clinic. Humphrey, my 29 pound furry associate, has always had issues with vets. Simply stated: he’s a lunatic. So I knew this vet’s office was the vet for us when my little lunatic dog went bounding in, tail wagging, with a huge grin on his face. He walks onto the scale. He plays with Maac — the office cat that seems to be more dog than cat. He says hello to all his friends.
The greatest thing about Mass Ave Animal Clinic is the staff. You can tell every person in that office love animals. They all go out of their way to get to know every animal who walks through their doors and make sure all their patients (both human and animal) feel safe and appreciated.
I cannot say enough good about this place. If you are searching for a vet, I highly recommend you look no further than here.

I first went to the clinic when my faithful sidekick had a cold that she just couldn’t kick. They were extremely accommodating, especially since I had never taken her there for care before that day. They took care of my cat and this extremely worrisome mother. We have been back since that first experience and I am still impressed.
The prices are extremely reasonable, especially for being a downtown clinic, and the care is exceptionable! They really work with your schedule to get your furry friend in the clinic even on the same day as you call. The only challenge can be parking, but that is the norm for being downtown. Don’t be surprised if you are greeted at the door by the clinic’s resident cat! It is really a sweetie and just wants to make everyone feel welcome!

Thank you Mass Ave Animal Clinic!!! They are great at what they do and I appreciate the love and care they gave for my baby-​aka black lab named Pongo.
I came here by referral of a friend and was led to a room where the assistant went through everything. I filled out the necessary paperwork and was greeted by the vet, Dr. Glore. She was very helpful and worked with Pongo well.
We had a great visit, just did the typical yearly shots and discussed his health and things I could do as an owner to ensure he has a long and healthy life. I went ahead and had him microchipped. They did all the shots in a different room which was nice because some owners get concerned about that sort of thing. And since my Pongo is such a momma’s boy it worked out well.
They gave us a folder with useful info, a coupon for Three Dog Bakery which Pongo gave two high-​fives, and a healthy pet certificate! They also called the following day to see how Pongo was doing and then we received a card in the mail from the vet thanking us for coming in! How awesome! I really appreciate that they are concerned about my pet and I hope in the future they continue their wonderful service both to myself and Pongo!

I am so thankful for Mass Ave Animal Clinic. I adopted a cat from the Humane Society a few months ago and have since found out that he has some chronic health issues that need to be addressed (not a criticism of the Human Society at all — there’s no way they could have known when I adopted him).
They always manage to find me an appointment when I call, and they do a great job of reassuring me about my poor kitty’s patchy fur or digestive difficulties. They’re really nice to my cat as well — he always gets attention when we go in.
