Midland Arts & Antiques Market

This is certainly one of the best places in Indy to spend an afternoon with a friend or two window-​shopping. And by «window-​shopping» I mean just that; 90% of the items here are remarkably overpriced.
I’ve always been a fan of Midland, and it’s always been on my list of «Places to Bring Friends Who are Visiting from Out of Town». Trust me, they’ll be impressed. But it’s never been on my list of «Places to Actually Buy Things I Find Here»!

This is mid-​century modern heaven. I could easily spend all day here looking at every single vintage knick-​knack, doodad, sofa, table, painting, etc. that is here. Alas, I only got about 30 minutes to scan the premises. By the time I left, my eyes hurt from looking at so much vintage goodness.
I feel like the prices at Midland are reasonable considering you’re talking about antiques that are well made and well curated. I come from Los Angeles, where similar vintage and antique stores will try to sell similar items for two to three times as much. So while you’ll definitely find old leather sofas that are priced over $ 1,000, you’ll also find deals.
Even if you don’t buy anything during your visit, it’s worth coming here just to look and get ideas for your home.

Bought a new headboard and received amazing service! They were able to speak to the dealer and get a little taken off the price. Very friendly and accommodating. I seriously go there monthly and love it every time!

I REALLY wanted to love this place but alas, it was not to be. I hit antique stores all over the state and have a pretty good feel for pricing on the things I collect. This mall was about 30% higher than most other malls. Also, it’s dark. My visit was in the summer and IT WAS BLAZING HOT! After spending sever sweaty hours in that place, not once seeing an employee that offered to help point me towards anything, I left disappointed. I won’t be rushing back anytime soon.
They do have a great variety of items though. If you’re looking for something rare, and have a TON of extra money, this might be a good stop.

I haven’t been in Midland for quite awhile. The upstairs has changed a lot. Looks like new venders and things look better arranged. I didnt have much time to look this trip. They close at 5 and I got there at 430 after going to the Society of Salvage.

Love this place! Lots of variety, lots to look at. One of those places where you just get lost looking at wonderful, odd or fun things!

Quit reading reviews and get yourself on over to this awesome antiques warehouse! We spent about
2 ½ hours here and wouldve spent more time but we were exhausted and needed a break. There was something for everyone here. Loved it!

Love this place! Huge warehouse full of different rooms done/​decorated by different sellers. Lots of one of a kind antiques, most at super reasonable prices. Great place to kill a couple hours looking at all of the neat items. You may just find that one of a kind piece that completes your room.
My only gripes are parking (limited, and in a field if you get there late) and it felt like there is no heat in the building.

Omg. GO HERE. How did I not know about this magical place before?! From the moment we took our first step inside this place we were in love.
I should preface by saying I’m no antique expert, but I like this place. This is a consignment/​flea market style antique shop — two floors of a warehouse filled with nice quality antiques from various sellers. This isn’t typically where you’ll find cheap things to rehab, but antiques/​vintage items, usually in great condition. I was amazed to see so many antique leather chairs without any cracks or splits.
I love the variety here and I feel like it changes a lot. I’m definitely going to go here next time I have a furniture need.

I’m no way into antiques. Don’t know trash from treasure. Wife was looking for something different and I mentioned this place only because I read something about it recently. I’m in trouble for not telling her about this sooner. Very cool place. Even our 13 yr old liked it and he’s always bored. We bought a large and heavy rolling industrial cart. Checked out and got some help with no problem. Guess we caught the workers on a good day according to some reviews. Will be spending a lot of time here I’m sure.

So much to see here! With two floors and dozens (?) of vendors they have antiques of all kinds. Come here when you have some time on your hands to experience the whole place and appreciate all they have to offer. A tip though, it is in an old warehouse, so the heating/​cooling is not the best-​might not want to come on a very cold or extremely hot day. Other than that no complaints. They offer items that cater to all price ranges from high end to struggling college student (me). In fact my boyfriend and I decorated much of our apartment with unique pieces from here without breaking the bank. And the woman working the front desk is so friendly and helpful!

It’s time for me to write an ode to the massive Midland Arts & Antiques Market.
O Midland, over the years we have spent many, many, hours together; & I have lavished you with mucho $$.
Up & down stairs I’ve gone, peering into dusty corners & rearranging piles of junk.
We’ve gone through good times & not so good times; days when you were bursting with treasure, & some days when I was just wasting my time.
But the good times are here again, my friend, & you are fat & sassy once more. Looking better than ever, full of antiques, art, furniture, books, jewelry, clothing, toys & tchotchkes.
Now you are a mecca for fine décor lovers everywhere, a beacon shining on the east side of downtown calling them to ‘Come, come to me & rest your weary eyes on beautiful mirrors, lamps, & glittering chandeliers.‘
You hold me spellbound with your bewitching wares; I weave through vendor’s booths, touching this, turning that, telling myself to keep moving, keep searching.
Will I find it? Will it be my deepest desire or… a…dud?
As time marched on, and I, along with your antiques, grew older; you filled my life & house with so many fine things, O my friend.

Perfect. Date. Activity.
And it’s free to look! Antique hunting is one of my favorite ways to spend a lazy afternoon. Midland is perfect, because it is a huge business in an old manufacturing building filled with all kinds of sellers, from furniture to small oddities. You could spend thirty minutes or three hours depending on your level of intensity.
My most recent adventure was last weekend. I bought two sweet pieces of vintage vinyl for a gift. I had a great time looking through all those, and it was a nice reminder of how young I am (I remember LaserDisc so I’m not THAT young). :)
My companion bought a book (still in the wrapping) about the defunct rail system in Indianapolis. It was $ 20. Kind of a steal for a hardcover book. If you’re a book lover, lots of vendors have offerings of books really old and not so old.
Tips for visiting are to pack a small snack (you will under estimate how many calories you will burn from sensory overload), comfy shoes for walking/​stair climbing, and jacket for the Winter months as it is a bit drafty in the lofty building.
Don’t expect to come in and find the deal of the century. Most items are pricey, but every once in a while you can find a gem for cheap. Or… as with most antique malls some sellers are willing to hear out a customer’s offer.

This place is great! It’s a large warehouse filled with all kinds of items. We explored two stories of antiques. I saw many items I would enjoy in my home, but that were out of my price range. Expect to pay a pretty penny if you walk away with anything. They don’t deliver so also be prepared if you’re looking for furniture pieces.
Its a pleasant way to spend a few hours of leisure time.

Don’t get lost! It’s a very large building and it’s easy to miss things in the maze of booths. Price ranges vary, I’m guessing it’s up to the booth owner, and there’s a little bit of everything. Make sure you have a couple hours, because it’ll take a while to get through. Definitely worth checking out if you’re interested in antiques at all, though it’s worth noting that it’s mostly mid century modern.
Sidenote, I happen to know that some of the buyers for this place shop at the smaller flea-​market type places around to help stock it, so check those out if you have time. Ta-​da, I just saved you money, you’re welcome!

Treasure!
You know when you’re looking for a needle in a haystack and the haystack is so big that you can’t even focus on finding the needle? I drive by this place every day and if I only knew what lied beneath this old brick lumber business– I would have been breaking down the doors.
The building is gigantic. Multiple floors (although only two are open to the public) are packed with treasure. No junk up in this place. Unique items from old to newer are everywhere. Some of them are so large that I envisioned a Hollywood prop scout walking the aisles and pulling things for the next movie blockbuster. There was an enormous head of a Greek goddess that reminded me of a scene from the Clash of the Titans.
One could spend hours here roaming the aisles, studying the stuff, and asking yourself why you brought the car and not the truck so you could haul it all home. Inventory changes regularly so stopping by on a whim is another new shopping experience.

Great place! If you are looking for it they have it… There are some values in here to be had but there were also some things that were just too high priced. I really found the second floor to be where the values were. We stopped by on our way home from somewhere else and spent about 90 minutes I there and did not even come close to looking at everything. If you are going when it is warm out they do not have ac so keep that in mind it is warm in there!
Great unique place.

This place is absolutely beautiful. There is an old teal metal drafting table that I’m really interested in, but I’m going to have to wait until I get paid. Hopefully it’s still there.
It’s wild, because you’re in a neighborhood thinking where the hell am I? Then you pull into the parking lot and walk inside and it’s like an emporium of old, rustic dreams just waiting to decorate my apartment with.
I nearly cried, because I wish I could afford it all, but I simply can’t.
But one day. One day. I will.

My 100% #1 favorite antique store in Indianapolis. I absolutely love old historic buildings and this old factory is an eye-​catcher — it’s definitely not abandoned though!
It’s got two floors of antiques that you can shop through. My friend and I the first time we went found an old Atari for way cheaper than it would have been at Disc Replay or somewhere else, so we got that. The most recent time I visited I made out like a bandit with a sweet old clock and some pink dishes.
It is in an old factory, though, in a downtown area. It’s not in the best shape. The windows are broken and there’s next to no ventilation otherwise — it’s hot hot hot in the summer and the polar opposite in the winter. Definitely make the trip here on a really nice spring or autumn day.
The booths in here are chock full of amazing items that you can dig through for hours. It’s got such a nice variety — the only thing that seems to be lacking is restoration and salvage pieces, but vintage and antique items are plentiful and fun to look at. Someone previously said that here are some high end items and some on the other side of that price spectrum, and that’s absolutely true — really nice vintage furniture pieces can be pretty pricey!
Customer service for me has always been pretty nice! I’ve never had a piece that I needed help, though, so I don’t know about that. I think I met the same guy at checkout both times, and he was very talkative and kind.
