My wife and I have shopped here for years. They have the best available produce all the time — local when available and best source otherwise. We picked up sweet corn today and it was from Georgia. Last time it was California sweet corn because that was all that was available. The main reason we stopped was for Georgia peaches. Mmmm. They also have a small greenhouse and plants throughout the growing season.

I judge every produce stand by their strawberries, and the strawberries I got from Phillip’s were the juiciest, most flavorful Berries I’ve had in a long time. I could sing songs about those beautiful berries. Everything else was ok.

I stumbled across Phillips produce while traveling down the road and decided to make a stop as I was running early and it looked very old school. I was surprised to see some major brands like Dole but I realize sometimes that must be necessary if they want to keep a good inventory. The prices seemed competitive with my home area and the convenience of just hopping out of your car to purchase your produce with out taking a hike through a big box store was very nice. If I was from the area Phillips Produce would be a regular stop for me.

I am a southsider true and true of Indianapolis. Born and raised there baby! My old house was off of Southport Rd. So I have driven by this place time and time again never venturing in. Lame excuse. I know. But finally after running some errands by myself I said what the heck. Let’s finally do this. Phillips has a decent variety of fruits and veggies. They carry some mulch and soil as well as a small selection of flowers and plants. The reason for the three stars is the lack of LOCAL produce. Dude, I can go to any grocery store and get a Del Monte pineapple. Fine whatever if I can buy it here. But I was hoping for some Indiana grown tomatoes and greens. Like hello. We are still an agrarian state and there was not a single fruit or veggie that had come from Indiana. Really? You pride yourself on being a cute corner stand but fail to give me local produce. Lame. That just means you’re not trying hard enough to network with local farms to provide fresh farm produce. Don’t think I’ll be coming back here.
