When searching Indy hotels for a two bedroom suite, you really don’t have two many choices super close to downtown. Therefore, I was happy to find that this RI had both the layout and price we were looking for!
It’s a standard Residence Inn with clean rooms, solid (included in the price) breakfast, and nice location. Our two bed suite had a full kitchen, two bathrooms, two bedrooms and a decent sized living room. In my 2.5 year old’s eyes, though, the best part was looking out her hotel room window and seeing the ducks and the fish swim in the canal below us!
Parking was easy in, easy out and all the staff I encountered were pleasant and helpful. If I find another need for a 2 bedroom in Indy, I’d surely stay here again.

Staff was friendly, and the location is great right on the canal. We sat outside on the patio off the lobby at sunset and it was beautiful. Breakfast was also good. Only downside was this hotel only offers queen size beds in all rooms, no king size beds.

We loved this hotel! Fantastic location on the beautiful canal in downtown Indianapolis. The service was excellent — Conner helped me (and several other guests) tremendously when I was trying to print some information. He did this while at the same time helping several other people who were requesting his assistance, all without missing a beat and being extremely polite.
The location is convenient to everything downtown — shopping, restaurants, Lucas Oil Stadium, and Victory Field to name a few. The rooms were very comfortable and updated, and the hotel hosts a nice social with food and drinks Monday — Wednesday, and a decent breakfast every morning. All is all a great place to stay in downtown!

I agree with the other reviewers that this hotel is a boon for the area. The canal is probably the best amenity. It is always busy with «tourists» and fitness minded coeds. The local kiddos seem to enjoy the ducks and the goldfishes which surface in droves when summoned with tender vittles. Similarly, the residents from across the canal also seem to surface when summoned by the Tinder coeds as they come jogging along the path in droves.
I can honestly say the management go out of their way to accommodate while often adding a personal touch that even the category 6 hotels in town completely miss the paddle boat on.
The accommodations are decent and fairly spacious especially given the price. The desk and is convenient to get some work done. However, on the negative side, the queen bed is to a bit small for a couple.
As usual with the Residence Inn, you get all of the common amenities (fridge, dishwasher, microwave, cooktop, although no oven, so the local pizza delivery is your best option for baked goods, which is fine for me because burnt frozen pizza is my speciality).
Update: Dinging one star for very bad internet. In this day and age there is no excuse for crappy Internet.

Very helpful, they switched my room for me and even remembered to bring my cell phone charger which I had left plugged in in the old room.
They serve breakfast everyday. The rooms are big and the place is nice and quiet. Even when it is full of people I can’t hear anyone in the adjacent rooms.

Kind employees, clean rooms, perfect location right off of the canal… I mean do you need more?
Our room had a kitchen, bedroom with queen bed, and a pull out bed in the living room. The pull out wasn’t the comfiest, but when are they?
The breakfast was fine. Scrambled eggs, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, sausage, baked goods, fresh waffles, french toast… the usual.
Since the room was a bit costly, I wish parking had come along with it. I mean it is right in the city, so parking will cost you a pretty penny.

Was able to stay here at a very affordable rate on New Years Eve. Conveniently located only a few minutes from the busy downtown, it was a great way to enjoy the city without having to pay the high hotel costs. Alyssa at the main desk was very friendly and welcoming. We originally booked a floor with a city view, but were pleasantly surprised to find they upgraded us to a room with a canal view, which is great to look at out the window.
They had the usually amenities, and a decent free breakfast in the morning. The room was very spacious and clean, bigger than the typical hotel room.
**a big plus** maybe it was just because it was New Year’s, but upon checking in Alyssa told us that they were waiving the $ 19 parking fee for our stay. This was a great surprise and much appreciated.

Stay here and park in the Mall parking garage if you visit downtown. The garage is about 4 minutes away, and takes only minutes to walk to places downtown. We only paid $ 2 for 3 hours during dinner rather than the expensive $ 15 + fees for valet or other lots.

South Portland, ME
This place was my home base for four days when I visited Indianapolis for business.
My single queen bed room was actually a mini-​suite, complete with a little kitchen and living room area. The bed was comfy, the pillows were plentiful, and I even had a view of the canal. The staff were exceptionally friendly and not at all stuffy. A solid experience through and through.
I took advantage of both the fitness room and the pool area during my stay, and both were small but definitely sufficient for my needs.
There was always coffee out (very appreciated) and cookies served in the afternoon. A complimentary breakfast was laid out every morning.
What’s lacking from this place are the fineries. The little touches. There were no mints on the pillows, no treats or minibar in the room, no room service. In the lobby there’s a small «market» with refrigerated foods and basic toiletry items, but the room itself is utilitarian.
My one real complaint is at least one hallway smelled quite musty. If I’d been assigned a room off that hallway, I would have requested a room change.
Residence Inn Indianapolis Downtown on the Canal probably won’t blow your mind, but it will cover all your needs and provide a comfortable stay at a great location.

This 3 star hotel far exceeded my expectations and provided even better than the majority of 4 star hotels that I’ve been to. We checked in late past midnight and the lady working the night-​shift was amazing. She was super friendly, checked us all in promptly and got all of our requests promptly. All room service requests were answered immediately. Free breakfast, free in-​room internet, free newspaper, free snacks/​dinner on many days of the week. Amazing. The coffee was amazing, everything! I’m definitely remembering this brand.

Super nice hotel. They are almost like little apartments! They have a whole kitchen including silverware, dishwasher, and fridge. It also have a living area detached from the bedroom.
This hotel is right on the canal. Many of the rooms have views.
The hotel has activites. I think on certain nights they have cookouts, etc. Mostly during the week.
There is a pool and pool table downstairs. Nice common patios to sit out on.
I recommend this hotel for a stay in Indianapolis.

I have to agree with other folks and reviews. Being a person who has stayed in hotels over 70% of my time the past several months — little things annoy me — rude staff, room double booked (yes this happened to me recently with another chain), lack of amenities (coffee, tea, etc.).
The front desk was very kind and accomodating. I have never stayed in a Residences Inn and liked the Apartment feel — coupled with have a canal view made my stay enjoyable.
Service — Great
Atmosphere — Okay — they are doing soem construction but no dings here for them trying to improve their facilities
Cost — medium but worth it
I will stay here again.

I was just reading some of the other reviews about this property, and noted that the friendliness/​helpfulness of the staff was called out. I’m glad to see that, because that was also what stood out most about this property. Every single person at the front desk throughout our stay went out of her way to be friendly and helpful. They gave us directions and advice on places to eat. One woman went out of her way to find us milk for our 2 year old. Another gave our son, exhausted from a day of walking the canals in the hot sun, a bottle of gatorade free. Note: as general advice to other hoteliers — the friendly and helpful staff make an incredible difference. I will always stay here in the future when I travel to Indy, and will always recommend this place to friends and colleagues.
The location is amazing — right on the canals. The lower level opens right on the canals. The whole time we were there, we never even needed to exit at the street level.
The property itself is typical Residence Inn — kitchenette, two-​room suite, etc. The rooms are fairly small, and the furnishings not terribly exciting — but they were all very clean and adequate for our family of four. The breakfast was excellent (better than usual extended-​stay hotel-​quality), and we particularly enjoyed eating our breakfast on the patio overlooking the canals. They also have free light suppers during the week, which we weren’t able to partake in.
All in all, an excellent place to stay in downtown Indianapolis — and thanks to the staff and management for being so welcoming!

This was a great place to stay.
First off, it’s right on the canal — we got a room on the canal level, so the water was about 10 feet from our window — nice and beautiful, seeing the ducks go by every now and then.
They provide a nice continental breakfast, with eggs, sausage, cereal, belgium waffles, fruit, juice, etc.
But I also need to give kudos to the staff. There was a problem with our room — there was an occasional leak from the room above us above the counter in the bathroom, which caused some dripping. Because of it, the manager gave us free taxi rides to get to and from the theater on Saturday night, which I thought was a good response. (I’m sure they would have transferred us to another room if we asked, but we didn’t want to bother with moving all of our stuff).
Also, the staff were great in helping us to find a place to eat. It was new year’s day, and half the places were closed and the other half were booked, but the guy at the desk spent about half an hour calling places for us so we could have a reservation at a good restaurant somewhere.
You are within walking distance of the zoo, downtown, and within a long walk of the Murat theatre, so the location is great. Being right on the canal was great for us as we love to run, so it gave us a great place to run without having to worry about traffic lights.
The staff were wonderful, the location was ideal, and the breakfast was good. I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here 3 or 4 times while my farther in law was in IU Hospital. This is a real nice hotel, Our hotel rooms were always very clean. The staff are great. Its also within walking distance to downtown which is awesome. I look forward to going here again soon
