Rook

Rook was absolutely amazing! The space is modern and upscale and the rice bowls we both had were awesome as was the service.
The only reason we are giving it 4 stars is because just like the sister restaurants (Black Market & Siam Square) Rook is overpriced for what it is. It is amazing… but frankly, it should be for the price.

This was my first time at Rook, and I’d heard nothing but great things going in. They certainly didn’t disappoint! A round of fried pigs ears for an appetizer — WOW. Salty and flavorful with a runny egg for dipping, out of this world. I ordered the Korean tostada for lunch, and after a bit of rearranging the beautiful presentation I was able to dive in. Meat was tender, veggies crisp, avocado nice and fresh. My lunch companion tried the sisig, or pig face hash, and he had a rough time keeping me from stealing all the pieces I could manage. Just amazing. Thought about it for the rest of the day.
As I mentioned, this was a lunch date, so the restaurant wasn’t too crowded and parking was easy to get manage. I’d love to try out the dinner menu at some point, as well as the bar. I will definitely be back for more of that sisig if nothing else…

Amazing fun for our Palettes!!! We missed the chance to go to the old home, but we were happy to see that Rook had a new home! Totally recommend for our foodie friends! Grilled Avocado steamed bun, Korean fried chicken steamed bun, oxtail dumplings, crispy pig ears, Logansia scotch egg, and Sisig.
Live large or stop living!

Rook is easily in my top 5 restaurants of Indianapolis. I’ve been going through withdrawals while they were closed to move to their new location.
It was worth the wait! The atmosphere of the new location better fits the personality of the restaurant — sophisticated and open. I love that the space is now large enough to take reservations, especially online reservations!
I was always more than satisfied by the menu, but the expanded menu is great! Besides the expanded food menu, it was great to see a strong selection of beers on tap and a cocktail menu.
I started with the fried chicken steamed bun, which was a lovely contrast of soft bun, crunchy chicken and a spicy sauce. I was a little weirded out by the idea of fried pig ear; I didn’t need to be. It was a fun crunchy way (served with a soft egg) to start dinner. Everyone at the table ordered one of the two ramens currently on the menu. I chose the non-​traditional combination of coconut curry and ramen with shrimp. Brilliant idea! The large shrimp were grilled to perfection and nestled in a big bowl of savory sweet red coconut curry with ramen noodles.

When the old location closed down for the move I was absolutely devastated. Where was I gonna go for lunch to get my Raven Banh Mi (legitimately one of my favorite sandwiches in the city)? How would I impress people by taking them for delicious Asian fusion in a cool atmosphere? What was even the point of Fletcher Place anymore? (Answer: Bluebeard, Milktooth, Amelia’s, Spice Box… is Fletcher Place the best food neighborhood in the city?)
The new Rook is just as stylish and cool as its predecessor and the menu is still a satisfying mix of Asian fusion and street food. It’s no longer quite as casual — someone actually took my order at my seat — but the mission doesn’t seem to have changed. The Korean fried chicken steamed bun was fantastic. The bun was soft, the chicken was hot and the pickles and kimchi mayo set it off perfectly. I don’t see anything wrong with going back and ordering 2 or 3 of these at a time. My Cuban Banh Mi was a perfectly good Cuban but suffered a little in comparison to the Banh Mi served at the old Rook. That said, it was a good sandwich in its own right and the Chinese mustard was a nice touch giving it a little extra fire you can feel in your nose. The service was top-​notch and lightning fast, but I was there at 4pm so your experience may differ if you go at a more crowded time.
This iteration of Rook has a consistent menu all day (nothing lunch-​specific) that I was told to expect monthly-​ish rotation on. Leaving, all I could think about was when I would be able to come back and try some of the other dishes that had made my food selection so tough (the bowls and the burger, specifically, all seemed like great options). Giving it 4 stars for now but I’m more than ready to raise that on subsequent visits.

If there are kinks in an opening week then the new Rook hides it well during a day 3 dinner and a day 5 lunch visit.
Wrote home about the korean fried chicken steamed bun, oxtail dumplings, beet home fries, longanisa scotch egg, korean tostada and crispy pata.
Got my feng shui on with layout, seating options, color scheme, lighting and décor. Nice vestibule wind break.
Service tops.
I’m a convert.
Glad the neighbors or IHPC didn’t stop this Rudisell-​Salazar train.

So our crew is adding this place to our «regular hangout list», such a nice spot, cozy cool bar, great and I mean great staff. Eli behind the bar is the man!
The attention to detail is what puts this place in the top tier of eateries. A knowledgeable staff is the sweetness that will keep people coming back.
The food is rich and tasty, small plates except for the two entrees, fried pork and a steam pot dish (currently).
Try the fired pigs ear and egg, wonderful! So good, it could be last meal type food!
Definitely returning and expanding this review.

Oh the rook! So excited to try this place. Went with a friend who said they used to be in a smaller venue but closed to move to this space. This is the perfect addition to fletcher place. They just recently reopened.
Asian fusion mixed with comfort street food. Very cool atmosphere. They had some great low key rap music playing. Tables for two and long community tables. Full bar.
I ordered the Korean fried chicken steamed bun as an appetizer. It was delicious. It had a great spicy sauce with a hint of mint. They are definitely small — so do yourself a favor and order one per person rather than trying to share. I have a picture with my hand for size reference.
I decided to go for the coconut curry shrimp ramen bowl. I’m not huge on coconut but it was the perfect mixture with the curry spice and noodles. My friend ordered the galbi bowl and practically licked the bowl clean.
The ramen dishes are big enough to share. I had plenty of left overs. If you’re looking for a new Asian fusion restaurant to try. I give took two thumbs up!

Oh my goodness! First off, let me start by saying the staff at Rook is on point! Super friendly and great atmosphere! The new place is beautiful and trendy! Chef Carlos and his crew make an amazing array of dishes!!! Tonight I had the Galbi rice bowl and my boyfriend had the embutido, talk about mouth watering! Definitely try those! The drinks were delicious and what fancy water they have! If you haven’t tried this place, you are truly missing out! You need to go, try it, go again, try it some more! Don’t forget the Halo Halo! Now I don’t need to jump on a plane and fly the many hours to get my Filipino fix! Thanks guys!
