History

Established in 1924.

In 1924, the very first Sam Ash Music store opened in Brooklyn, New York, and brought to its customers the most popular instruments of the day: banjos and mandolins. Naturally, as times changed, so did our store — we adapted to a changing market as the big band era brought with it the popularity of brass and woodwind instruments, and later the advent of rock ‘n’ roll brought on an intense demand for guitars, electric basses, and drum sets. Not only has our company witnessed the debut of amazing music technology, we’ve even been responsible for introducing some of it. The first cymbal boom stands, the first rock-ready drum sets, the first affordable wireless microphones, and even the Les Paul Special reissue were all musical innovations that the Sam Ash company had an active hand in developing and introducing to the American music scene.

Meet the Manager

Jamie J.

Manager

I have been employed with Sam Ash Music since the beginning of 2003. Before coming to the Indianapolis location, I started and worked for 7 years in the Nashville, TN store. I moved to the Raleigh, NC store and helped there for just over a year. While spending many years touring with bands, owning/running my own music venue, I earned my Audio Engineering degree from SAE. Being a drummer since birth, I now have spent a lot of time on the other side of the glass, involved in studio work, building up the local music scene and loving what I do.
