We were visiting from Nashville and stumbled across this gift shop on our way out of town. We spent almost an hour’s time and over $ 100 in this place. Every product in the shop is the epitome of fun and quirky. I just wish there was one in Nashville!

Silver In The City is an incredibly handy place to grab a last minute gift (or an incredibly good place to start looking for a gift). You can’t go wrong with their selection of Indiana goods, cute stuff or jewelry. There’s a pretty good price range, so you can find something for everyone on your list. Silver In The City makes it easy to give a thoughtful gift.

Looking for a quirky, fun, unique gift for a bridal shower? Or maybe a graduation gift? Or a last-​minute birthday gift? Or even a «just cause I like you» gift? Silver in the City has you covered for all occasions.
Ranging from drinking gifts for the alcohol-​loving uncle to the mother that is obsessed with local jewelry to even books about poop and penis sizes for… whoever… Silver has you covered.
Seriously, this store is the best to find the weirdest, most out-​there gifts for someone, all while respecting local artists and talent. It’s a great store, with a great location. The staff are always friendly and helpful. And the music is always on point.
Walking your dog and don’t want to leave them outside alone? No worries, Silver lets you bring your pup in!
Yes, it can be a bit pricy, but remember that you’re supporting local businesses and artists and that will take away that guilt from spending a little extra!

Enjoy this place every time I come to Indianapolis. Impossible not to find a unique gift for the woman or man in your life here. Many unique Indiana and Indy items to show your pride! Shirts, mugs, books, candles jewelry. They took the time to ask and wrap my gifts for me with tissue which was a great touch.
Minus one star for two reason. They have employees ON TOP OF YOU as you shop. Apparently they have a shoplifting problem, which sucks. But I feel pressured and uncomfortable sometimes, you literally have to shop around them. Also, their jewelry… while adorable and delicate, it’s expensive as hell and has no indication of what it is made of, 14k gold? I would hope so, the thin pendant I was looking at was $ 130. Which is fine if you had a warranty or something, at least when you buy boring jewelry at a chain you can usually get assistance if it breaks or free cleanings. It would worry me to spend that much on such a thin chain necklace. Most of the rings I saw were $ 40+.

Eeeek, I love every single thing in this store and it’s a great place to buy an unique gift for someone, just make sure to buy yourself something too, I always do.
You will find quirky hipster decorations, chotskies, Indiana themed shirts and art, art supplies, fun staff, good music, and on and on I could go.

So I’ll start off and say that your not gonna find cheap things here. It’s one of those awesome nick knack places with stuff you can’t find anywhere else!!!
The staff is absolutely wonderful, super helpful and super sweet.
Their store is well separated by product type. They also have an entire selection of Indiana clothing gear, and wonderful locally made jewelry.
If you are looking for a gift for someone but don’t know what to get them, you’ll find it here. You’ll also find something for yourself because there is just so much cool stuff here!

Love this shop! They have a great selection of gifts and jewelry. It’s a good place to look if you are searching for some Hoosier memorabilia. Their monument «Christmas» tree stationary and other Christmas gifts this year were adorable!

This is the place to come for funny socks and terrific jewels to adorn yourself. They have quite a few designs around the state of Indiana and Hoosier loves. The cards and stationary are staples at this shop, but there are so many other treasures like, adventure bags, candles, and other home décor items.

I love coming here!

Seriously, this place is a gem. I love every inch of this store. From the kitschy knickknacks to the handmade silver charm that’ll «love you to the moon and back” – there’s a gift for everyone here.
Perfect Christmas, Birthday, Anniversary or «Just Because» Saver… you’ll always find something for your someone here! Even just to stop by, it’s even a great waiting room for spillover waiting people from surrounding restaurants! We had to wait for Bru Burger for like 45 minutes and we just shopped til we dropped!
Whenever I need to get something for friends from out of town, I can’t think of any other place (well, this place and Homespun.) But more so Silver in the City is my place to go! You can also bring your doggy there!!! MORE REASON TO GO AND FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE.

Every time I need a unique, fun, one of a kind gift I head to silver in the city. You’ll likely come home with something for yourself, too.
The staff are pleasant and never pushy and often have great suggestions when you’re stuck.
An added bonus is they carry many locally made baubles and gifts. It gives me the warm fuzzies when I can support local!

I love this store. I’ve bought so many gifts there over the years, and so much fun stuff for myself. It’s sort of an Urban Outfitters as far as books, sarcastic magnets, and funny gifts (hand sanitizer designed for situations where you suspect the person may have touched their genitals recently, for example.) Then there’s lovely artisan-​type things, such as décor and candles. There’s a decent amount of locally-​made items, including books, clothing, and jewelry. They also have jewelry from a variety of unique artists around the country. The staff is incredibly fun and sweet. They let dogs come in and shop with their owners. It’s probably my favorite store in Indy, and has been for nearly a decade.

Fart lip gloss. Mini terrariums with gold dinosaurs inside. Socks covered in bacon strips. Cookbooks for couples. Stationary with the coolest designs in all the land.
Yep, just a glimpse of what you’ll find at Silver in the City on Mass Ave. Set aside a half hour to explore the ever-​changing inventory. I often leave with a smile on my face or some sort of creative juices flowing.
Fun fact: Unilocal’s data team pulled the top 50 rated gift shops in the country and Silver in the City was 10^th! Not my shop but I’m beaming with pride.

For some reason, I prefer the original Silver in the City location on Mass Ave to the newer store in Carmel. I think it’s because it fits in more with the vibe of Mass Ave.
At SITC, you’ll find classic Hoosier gifts like United State of Indiana apparel and the state of Indiana slapped on every product imaginable, but you’ll also find quirky stuff. For example, swear words abound on greeting cards and socks (so maybe leave the little ones at home) and you can buy sloth tea infusers, because why not? If you have a quirky friend, this would be a good place to buy them a unique gift they’ll actually enjoy. I was really impressed with the jewelry selection — probably takes up a third of the store.

A semi-​expensive but very cute little place to find all kinds of gifts, home décor, and jewelry. So glad they also have a Carmel location in addition to their Mass Ave store!

Someone warned me that I wouldn’t be able to go here without buying something. I played it cool for about thirty minutes but then I saw cool vintage-​looking sunglasses and immediately caved. This place is so unique and if someone were visiting Indy, I would definitely take them here. There are so many unique Indy items that make me proud to live here. The jewelry is incredible. I’m always wearing about six rings at a time, so their massive ring selection really gets me. They also have tiny mason jar shot glasses, funny socks, cool room hangings, notepads, postcards, games, everything.

I will admit that I chuckled when I read multiple Unilocal reviews comparing Silver in the City to Urban Outfitters, a pop culture wonderland that has attracted more than a little controversy in recent years due to revelations of its CEO’s support of conservative causes and politicians. While you don’t necessarily get that kind of feeling while shopping inside Urban Outfitters and one certainly doesn’t want to unfairly label an entire corporation based upon the actions of one, it’s hard not to think about that vast difference while shopping in Mass Avenue’s Silver in the City, a beacon of light and hope and warmth and fuzzies offering such wares as Pride Flag t-​shirts and the gosh darn awesome «We Like You Here» t-​shirt complete with a rainbow printed Indiana map. In other words, I’m pretty sure the CEO of Silver in the City actually does like everyone and not just because they have money.
In fact, they like your animals too. This is proven by their sign at the front door informing customers that dogs are welcome. I figured if dogs were welcome that wheelchairs must also be welcome. So, today I made my first visit to Silver in the City.

This place is awesome. First off, it is truly wheelchair accessible. This is incredibly rare on Massachusetts Avenue where most of the buildings are older and entrance into the retail shops can be hindered by big bumps, small steps, big olé’ freakin’ steps, and stairways to heaven or hell or somewhere like that.
This entryway is perfectly accessible and the doorway was wide open on this beautiful Fall day in downtown Indy. As you peruse their relatively small yet nicely arranged location, it’s impossible to not be struck by how accessible they’ve managed to make it and how friendly the staff is. Oh sure, they’re definitely out and present and watching for any problems (those who need help and those who just want to take stuff) but they project a friendliness and warmth that makes you want to go goth.
Speaking of making you want to «go,» it says something awesome about a store when a footless paraplegic has an overwhelming urge to buy the novelty socks you carry. These had awesome graphics with hilarious sayings ranging from inspiring to sarcastic and everything in between. I think my favorite saying was «I hate Everyone Too.» Man, these socks really made me want feet. I think they should make stump socks like these.
I wheeled down every aisle and had no problems with the chair, though I suppose a bigger power chair might have some issues. I loved the items ranging from candles to clocks to pop culture novelties to jewelry to much more. Unlike many similar shops, Silver in the City actually does have quality items at reasonable prices and I’m guessing they have fun gifts in just about every price range.
While I didn’t buy anything today, I enjoyed my visit tremendously and will unquestionably be back in the near future with plans to buy. Silver in the City also has a wonderful website and offers free shipping on orders over $ 50 in the U.S.
While Urban Outfitters may be a fun place to shop, I’ll give my tip o’ the hat to Silver in the City not just because of politics but because the staff is friendlier, the atmosphere is less pretentious and there’s truly something for everyone and not just the hipsters and the people with more money than common sense.

Sarah S described it perfectly: «an Urban Outfitters minus the clothes but with a huge addition of a jewelry section.» From the name I imagined it only being silver jewelry and décor, which I’m not a fan of, but that’s not the case. It’s actually only half that, maybe even only a third of the store. When you first walk in you’re greeted by displays that feature no silver at all-​mostly modern décor and gifts, which are they’re true specialty, in my mind. Some items are a little crass and kitsch, but the majority is not. Great place for baby shower gifts, like novelty onesies. They also have a wide variety of scented candles. I walked away with a Cinnamon and Honey 8 oz for $ 18.50. A little pricey but worth it considering the fragrance load it has.
They also have a great selection of locally made items, like drink ware, apparel accessories and screen printed t-​shirts. This is a great little boutique for Christmas gifts. I think you could definitely find something for everyone here. FYI: they gladly take returns with receipt within 30 days of purchase.
Ironically I never looked at the silver items so I can’t comment-​HA!

This is one of my favorite little shops to go to in Indianapolis.
When my friends come and visit some weekends, we like to go to Mass Ave. and browse around in here during the day. They have so many fun little knick knacks and cool sunglasses/​accessories,
I am a collector of clocks and the day that I can afford it, I’m going to get that clock with the giant five on it. If someone beats me to it, I’m just going to cry my little pretty brown eyes and just get one of the other cool clocks hanging up on the wall.
I love these little local shops, because it just makes you feel good about supporting the local economy.
