Steak ‘n Shake

I hold a close spot in my heart with this Steak N Shake. This is where my boyfriend and I met for our blind date. 2 years later this is still the only one we go to. Also the QUICKEST, cleanest, and friendliest I’ve ever been to and most importantly the best in the area.

This place was awful when I was in high school and it has not improved in 20 years. The service is still slow with serious attitude. And the food is not good and not cooked to order. My hash browns were dripping in grease/​butter to the point I had to towel them off before eating them. My mother asked for hash browns and bacon well done. They came back pale and barely cooked. Her scrambled eggs, meanwhile, were a toasty brown. My father’s poached eggs came out as fried eggs. Mom asked for a coffee refill twice and I finally had to get up and get someone for her. The restaurant was not busy and there were an abundance of servicers.
When I paid, the cashier asked me how the meal was. I told it her it wasn’t great and not cooked to order. Her response — oh, the kitchen has been a mess all morning, I wish I didn’t have to work today.

It seemed like with a rush at the drive thru, the crew became flustered. They forgot parts if our order. Thankfully I checked before leaving the lot. Fries were not fresh and hot!

I have been eating at various Steak and Shakes for a decade now. This is the worst one I have ever been to.
Took 20 minutes to get a high chair and order drinks and food. Took 20 minutes for food to show up. My sandwich and my friend’s fries were the ONLY food that came out correctly. My child sized milkshake was the first thing to show up OMG WHO DOES THAT WITH A BABY AT THE TABLE? Our food was cold. Our food was late. The *replacement* food took ANOTHER 15 – 20 minutes to show up.
And the capstone moment was when, after I had been EXPLICIT that I wanted my chili cheese fries, NOT a cup of chili with cheese to pour over it, and she reassures me she knows what I mean… a cup of chili with cheese shows up.
…THE CHILI WAS COLD. At that point, I’m done fighting it.
No idea what my server’s name was, because it wasn’t on the receipt.
We informed the cashier that the service was bad, the orders were wrong, the orders were *cold*, *AND* the waitress’ attempt to «fix» things were also 1) wrong, in my friend’s case, and 2) cold in my case.
… She asked if we wanted a free shake.
I am singularly unimpressed.

Love love love this steak and shake ! Best in the area I live closer to the southport one which is terrible to say the lease ! But this location my god is consistently the same great quality ! Someone needs to have the southport location come and get some tips !!

I am so in love with this Steak ‘n Shake!!! I’ve been to this Steak ‘n Shake the last 4 times that I’ve ate out. And have had the same waiter Charles. And I have got to say is that he is by far the best waiter ever! He’s fast friendly and on top of it every single time. This one is the best run Steak ‘n Shake out there! I would love to give it 10 stars!

Does anyone even work here? Sat here for a while with no service. Very disappointed in the night shift

This Steak ‘n Shake is absolutely THE BEST out of all the other surrounding Steak ‘n Shakes! I believe this location is the best managed, has the best and fastest service, and is the cleanest. The waiters/​waitresses definitely do not keep you waiting for your food and they’re always refilling your drinks without having to ask! The other great thing about this location is that they still make your drinks with the real vanilla or cherry syrup instead of using those new Coke machines that some of the other Steak ‘n Shakes have converted to. This is my favorite location and I am always very pleased with every visit!

Loved the peanut butter banana shake. There were little crispy bits and banana bites and I drank way more of it than I intended to.

Used to not be a huge fan of Steak and Shake, but this location always seems to impress. Double steakburger meal is my jam. Chili and fries as my side. Grilled onion, pickle, tomato, lettuce and mustard relish. New to Steak and Shake is their fry seasoning that is on the table, shake a bit of that on the burger and fries for a nice addition. The food here is always hot, fast and satisfying. Check out the local paper for coupons that save you some considerable money.

Excellent value from the $ 4 meals and bonus when children eat free on the weekend. The waitress we had today was VERY attentive and went above and beyond to help us with our unruly infant. I’ll definitely come back to this location.

I go to take advantage of happy hour which lasts from 2 – 4 pm and 2 – 4 am. Half price on all drinks. But I end up buying food, too. Always got to get fries and a Frisco melt.
