Hertz Rent A Car

Seriously DO NOT go to this location!!! Coachella weekend I booked a car rental from san luis obispo hertz, they had awesome customer service there. I had to drop it off here in indio at 12:30PM because according to Unilocal they close at 1PM on Saturdays. Had to pay for 3 days because there was a piece of paper written with a sharpie on the door saying they closed 12PM on Saturdays instead, they also were closed Sunday. Called today (tuesday) to confirm they had the car I dropped off because I live 6 hours away. The first guy who picked up the phone at this location said if you dropped it off in the slot then we got it, unless someone fished it out of the door. He didn’t even bother to check my name or anything so I hung up. Called 15 minutes later and a girl picked up, she said they received the red car, but it’s not under my name, but under someone else’s instead. Asked her who’s name it was under but she said she wasn’t allowed to tell me who and told me I would have to call the next day.(probably because it was 20 minutes till closing when I had called) A close friend of mine who also works at hertz said it was definitely under my name and this location was just lazy to check the drop off. SO UnilocalERS I’m doing you a favor, take your business elsewhere because obviously it will not be appreciated here. I’D GIVE THEM ZERO STARS IF I COULD!!!

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I rented a car here on Feb 9^th. Through my insurance agency. From the moment we walked in their customer service was non existent. I reserved a midsize vehicle and to my surprise they didn’t have one. Was given the option of two Armada’s only to be told one needed an oil change and then was given one with no gas. The guy who helped me Floydell (compound word) was not only rude, but obviously didn’t bother to explain that the vehicle would exceed what my insurance covered for my daily policy coverage. Because I asked for a car comparable to what I drove (mid size car) he said «She must want a Lamborghini» no! I want a car that is comparable to what I have, and is covered by my insurance. I explained that I have children and didn’t understand why I made a reservation and yet there wasn’t a car available.
I left and later that day received a phone call demanding I bring the vehicle back that weekend since it had been rented. The girl said she would have a Camry (mid size car) available on Friday. I asked her how can she guarantee this if I reserved one today, which is Tuesday and there was nothing other than two Armada’s? She stayed quiet. I also said I had just filled up the gas tank and if I would be reimbursed if I brought the vehicle back now. She said no, it would be my loss. I will NEVER go through Hertz again, I have told my insurance agency this is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I would prefer to pay the overage if a vehicle and deal with Enterprise they are much more competent and have better customer service.

Damn — this place is THE WORST-​WORST! Really, I thought Enterprise was terrible. Honestly, I didn’t think it possible to be worse than Enterprise — and they REALLY DON’T CARE.
These guys, and in particular, this location, is a disaster. Starting with the glazed-​over look of the employees that says, «I really don’t want to be here,» to the dismal selection of cars.
When you over-​hear their people say, «is their air in that cars tires; oh, let the driver check it,» you know you’re in really good hands!
They gave me a Jetta; worst car I’ve ever driven. Hands down. Needed air in the tires, and was mechanically unsound; stalled on left hand turns, leaving me in the middle of an intersection — and not once, but many times. Badly needed alignment as it dragged me into the next lane if I some much as took a sip of water.
Went to another Hertz dealer to turn the car in early. «Sorry, no cars — and drive safe.» He was kidding right?
I just don’t know where they find these people. Customer service? What’s that!

Rented a car online. Called their corporate headquarters. Confirmed the reservation. Drove 25 minutes to this Hertz location.
When we got there –No car. No offer of a discount if we we came back at a later time. I would give it zero stars, if I could. Complete inconsideration.

If I could give this location zero stars, I gladly would. I reserved a rental car earlier today for a 12:00PM pick up knowing that they had a 1:00 PM closing time (according to their Unilocal page). I arrived at the location at 12:05 PM and the doors are locked with the staff inside. The hours posted on the door had been covered and changed with new handwritten hours. The staff which lacked compassion, turned me away and told me since I arrived past their closing, they are unable to help me.
I called their customer service hotline and received the same answers with no resolution.
My concern is that they allowed me to reserve a rental at the same time the location closes and I was not advised through the online booking system or confirmation email of their closing time.
Coincidentally, every car rental establishment in the entire region is either closed or sold out, which is even more problematic.
Hertz needs to ensure that their customers are aware of closing times, not allow reservations/​pick-​ups to be made when their locations are closed, and be flexible with customers who are placed in these predicaments, which are caused by Hertz inability to effectively communicate their operating hours.

These guys are so professional and friendly plus best rates and always convenient. I’ve used Enterprise and Avis and this company and location is the best, clean cars GREAT staff!!!

Just received a response from a review I posted a few days ago. Your employee suggested I go to a competitor of Hertz, and I did. It amazes me to see how rather than satisfy a customer you allow your employees to dictate how Hertz will be negatively be represented or perhaps you just dont Care. Either way I have found another company that took care of me after hearing my ill encounter with Hertz. So yes I was taken care of by your competitor.:-)

The Worst in every way possible,
I took my Chevy Volt in for service and the dealer provided me a courtesy car. Hertz gives me a massive Chevy Suburban. I accepted this as I was only driving a few miles to get home (10 miles) and return it once my service was done. Prior to returning the big suburban I topped it up over from what I started with. I returned the vehicle and find out they charged my credit card. I then placed a call to the Indio Hertz and they tell me it was for a fuel charge. I explained to them I put in gas and only used the vehicle about 30 miles. They said a manager would call me back. Never happened. I called again and get a run around about me needing to find my contract. Once again no return call. Terrible experience. I will be contacting my credit card to dispute the charge.
Update: They did call back to refund the charge. Thanks Management

I would recommend anyone considering going to this Hertz location to actually go to the Palm Springs location where you actually get good service that you deserve. Employees and manager here are not helpful and courteous.
