Kingchops

A very solid Taiwanese style kitchen that serves and excellent deep fried pork chop. They have a limited menu, but most of the items on there are pretty good and the service was fast. overall there is nothing too outstanding about any of the dishes, no dessert offerings and the atmosphere very underwhelming. But a good place for noodle soup with your Taiwanese style fried pork chop.

Been passing by this restaurant for the longest time and having heard mixed reviews about it, I was never that interested in giving this place a try.
I had a huge craving for Porkchop rice and finally decided to give this place a try. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. The Porkchop had great flavor and made me reminisce about my time eating in Taiwan. I would say this is as authentic as I can get here in the Rowland Heights area.
Portion is just about right, although hungrier ppl might have to order an extra Porkchop on the side. Price is reasonable, and they have unlimited Chinese sweet tea!
Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying the Porkchop noodle or the chicken leg rice next time!

5÷26÷2016: I called to check if they have lunch break, because Im craving for their pork chop. The owner said yes they are in lunch break, however he got OT today so why dont i just come n eat!!! Wow how lucky am i ??? So happy and appreciated =)

I wanna say this is honestly the best Taiwanese style pork chops I’ve had in LA.
I’ve tried several other places before coming this, and each time I was a bit disappointed. Either the pork chops were not deep fried to the right amount, or the taste was a little off. But not Kingchops! I had the pork chip rice and everything was incredible in terms of flavor. Even the rice was yummy too!
If you want some authentic Taiwanese food, definitely give Kingchops a try.

Hands down one of the best place in so cal for pork chop rice! This is owned and run by the same owner from Taiwan, it’s a famous, well know pork chop rice restaurant so we’re very lucky to have them open one here in the states.

Review is based on service. Very poor experience. Waitress does not take order. Waits awhile and finally takes my order. My food was only delivered partially. When the missing entrée was pointed out after 20 minutes — they figured out it was never cooked. Wait another 15 minutes for pork chop to be delivered but missing the soup. Soup finally comes but waitress never asks about what to drink. I go get my own ice water from the dispenser. FAIL. Finally the check is triple of what I ordered. Obviously incorrect bill.
Never again.

The fried pork chop or chicken leg with noodle soup!!! Yummmm. Also the best part is drizzling their sauce (vinegar on the table) on the meat and noodles. They also have free self serve tea and water.

Whenever I visit $$$-$$$$ restaurants, I opt for soup over meat for my appetizers. Why? Because anybody can buy a fresh and tender piece of meat. For example, anybody can visit their local fish market in the morning and acquire some of the freshest fish. Just throw the fish onto an All-​Clad for a quick sear, top it with ponzu or butter, sprinkle some green onion or herbs, and you got yourself a quick and cheap $$$-$$$$ dish comparable in texture and taste. But when it comes to soup, it’s insanely hard and time consuming to make it great. Anybody can buy broth, but even if it’s from Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods, it won’t be as good as making soup from scratch and letting it simmer for many, many hours. And that’s not taking into consideration all the trial and error that goes into this process. That’s why I greatly prefer ordering soup at such establishments– it’s way harder to replicate.
All that said, Kingchops is definitely not a $$$-$$$$ restaurant. In fact, it’s just a $ restaurant. It’s a restaurant that originally opened in Taiwan in 1961. It was known for its small dishes (what we call appetizers) while most stores back in the day focused on entrees. Nowadays, these small dishes are extremely common in Taiwan, where street food continues to be king.
Anyway, Kingchops is known for their pork chops. I’m not even a fan of pork chops, but Kingchops makes it great. They’re most famous for their pork chop and rice dish and their pork chop noodle soup dish (fried pork chop served on the side). The soup is just marvelous. You can tell it’s been cooking for hours upon hours, just soaking in all the ingredients. The noodles are thin and perfect, going perfectly with the Taiwanese lettuce (called «A Cai»), hard boiled egg, and pickled mustard greens (known as «Suan Cai»). The pork chops were tender, balanced and full of flavor, and, like the noodle soup, served really hot.
Another reason I love this Kingchops is because it’s family owned. The mother and father run the store and their daughter sits and does homework at a table by the cashier. It’s pretty common to see this in Asia (even a Chinese restaurant in Irvine has a kid’s table for the owner’s children), so it really brought back the mom and pop shop feeling. I’m all for supporting these establishments!
As always, the Taiwanese food is inexpensive. I ate here with three other people and our total bill was $ 34. We all left full and satisfied. Love these Taiwanese spots. Just another reason to love the area!

Food here isn’t too bad, but I mean, it’s cheap Taiwanese food — it does what it does well — pork chops and deviled egg tofu and etc. Good place to go for cheap taiwanese food!

A 50+ years shop from Taiwan is actually found here in the States! Can’t believe it. Although I don’t live in the neighborhood, whenever possible, I am always here. People are nice! The place is clean and neat. Most of all, the food is always good and consistent! Never fail! A must!

King Chops originated opened in Taiwan. This is one of the most authentic places to go if you want authentic fried pork chop. Coming here reminds me of home and how good it is that I don’t need to fly across the world for some authentic Taiwanese food. This business is family owned and they do take pride in making sure you are happy.
The service is better than most Chinese places and overall I do enjoy coming here.

The most popular dish is the fried pork chop served with dried noodles or noodles soup and a side of veggie and half and egg for $ 7.50. The food comes out fresh, hot, and quick. Be prepare, they serve a good portion to fill anyone up. As a side dish, you can order cold pickled cucumber or boiled vegetables served with ground pork on top. You can also order fried chicken leg.

Oh so good! Love their pork chop with rice. It comes with a bowl of soup. (Pork chop rice w/​soup for $ 8.15). Also the cold appetizer– seaweed was delish. Reasonable prices for tasty food!
Wish they open a location near me. Short business hours. Service was ok/​fine. Parking lot can be hectic during lunchtime.

The most authentic taiwanese pork chop rice and fried chicken rice establishment in Los Angeles. As a native from Taiwan, I swear by their pork chops and chicken to send me all the way back without actually ever flying back to Taiwan. It’s a plate of pure goodness and happiness for me. I call them — *chicken yum yum*, *porky pop pop*.
It’s very taiwanese though, so everyone speaks mandarin and taiwanese there. Some English, but they have menus with picture so not to worry. My chicken yum yum and porky pop pop are truly very glorious to my taste buddies! *unending salivation*

Maybe I’m not ordering the right thing at this place. Being that my dog’s name is Porkchop, I skipped out on ordering the Porkchop at this place and stuck to the chicken. There was more than one time that I ordered the fried chicken dry noodle and every single time there was something wrong with it. Once they gave it to me in soup, I didn’t mind but it wasn’t what I ordered. I was hoping it would be good but the soup was super bland. As for the dry noodles, not very tasty at all. They come in a lump, all stuck together and a bit difficult to eat since its a giant ball of noodles. The noodles are either over cooked or not cooked enough. The chicken is ok, seasoned well but wayyy too oily for my taste (I ended up always drying up the oil with a napkin). Portions are decent size and filling. I should maybe try something else on the menu if I go back to this place.

My favorite place to get pork chops. I actually hate pork chops but this is the only place I order and enjoy them. The noodles and broth goes very well with their pork chops and the appetizer bamboo is also delicious.
You can order the pork chops with rice or with small/​large amount of noodles. The restaurant originated in taiwan and if you go to XiMenDing, taiwan you can find king chops there too (never actually ate there but I’m assuming it’s good too)
Also management changed here but last time I went it still tastes the same. The original owners have moved their restaurant to Irvine California

i loooooove taiwanese pork chop and rice. i never noticed kingchops next door to my favorite ramen place, but once i did i had to try it. it was just okay.
what i ate:
— pork chop and rice: the pork chop itself was really good. tender and juicy. it’s not really the crispy version, but still well seasoned. the ground pork over rice was good as well. it came with a side of stewed firm tofu, which was okay, unremarkable, and some broccoli (not cabbage). oh! maybe we caught the owners off guard as my friend came in right at opening, but i never got a boiled tea egg with my meal! i only noticed towards the end of the meal, and it wasnt worth asking about.
pros:
— great for togo lunch imo. it seemed like most of their business was togo orders.
— great price. everything was very affordable
cons:
— this is nitpicking, this really is… but they served us water in a nice glass bottle, but then gave us styrofoam cups to drink out of. are they THAT lazy to wash cups?
— paper menu, which makes ordering easy, as you can just mark off what you want to get
— menu is very small and specific.
would i come again? probably not, i like bobee better.

Located in a strip mall with a good amount of parking spaces, Kingchops is a CASH ONLY restaurant, so make sure to come prepared!
My friend and I came here for lunch today and ordered the #2, porkchop with noodles. She got the soup and I got the dry noodles, each $ 7.50 each. They first brought out the porkchop, which was marinated, crispy, and served with some pickles. This was tasty, tender, and juicy, and the flavors were accentuated with the vinegary dipping sauce they have at the tables. When they brought out the noodles, they also gave me a small bowl of soup for the dry noodle order. The soup was a little bland compared to the flavors of the porkchop and the dry noodles. The dry noodles were delicious and pretty large; I wasn’t able to finish this and took about half of it home. It tasted like they were made with fresh noodles and included minced pork, half an egg, and some greens.
I do like that they leave a glass bottle of water on your table so you don’t have to keep pestering them for refills, but I wish they invested in reusable cups, since they would just give styrofoam (which is wasteful and makes the environment sad).
Overall, I think a good value for lunch!

This place used to be the best place for taiwanese pork chop! Now, not so much :(simply because the taste or mix they used on the pork chops taste different, not as tasty TBH and OMG don’t even get me started about portion size!
Literally everything shrunk by 1 size, when they moved to this location, the old location used to be in diamond/​life plaza on fullerton. Even after they moved here I’ll still come simply because it was still good.
Not until now. sadly the pork chops last night was sorta ridiculously small and apparently they sell their pork chop for $ 5.50 just by itself? That literally would not be worth it… its smaller than my palm! Mind you I have like a child’s size hand LOL –_​_​–
Okay and the sides, it wasn’t even like 1 serving more like half like or less than ¼ cup lol and the only thing that stayed the same was their rice lol kinda cant be stingy on rice well thats a given… overall, worth a try if you never had it! I came here last night and was hungry for dinner, did not leave full lol.

I don’t know if I am just being picky, but the ‘#1 Pork Chop Rice’ was not mind-​blowing for me. The pork chop itself was juicy and flavorful but was also drowning in oil. The minced pork on top of the rice was more bland than usual, so I probably would not come here solely for the minced pork rice. The #1 is filling and comes with half of an egg, bean curd, broccoli and a bowl of soup.
Although the nice waitress spoke to us only in Mandarin, you are given a paper menu to write down and relay your order. The food comes out quickly and steaming hot.
Although the parking lot was packed, the small restaurant was empty as can be. I have had the most delicious pork chop rice in Taiwan, so I know that I have impossibly high standards for my Taiwanese food. I will continue to come here for the pork chop until I can find a superior Taiwanese, Chinese restaurant.

When you think of Taiwanese food, you automatically think of San Gabriel or Alhambra where it’s bustling with aromas of Taiwanese stinky tofu, boba and noodle shops. Rarely would you think the City of Industry serves up decent Taiwanese food that’s authentic and affordable. Cue ChopHouse. It’s situated in an Asian plaza much like the San Gabriel ones with an abundance of Chinese restaurants with a diverse mix of other Asian cuisines.
The food at Chophouse is really simple. The menu has a few key items that they’re known for, and is probably the most substantial of them all: the fried pork chop. You can get in a combo, al la carte or with noodles. Really tasty, nice sized portions for lunch. The other item I got was the beef noodle soup which was also excellent. The tomato broth is both very abundant and very rich. They use soft layers of beef to flavor the soup along with a hefty serving of thick noodles. Really delicious! Also a real surprise because I haven’t had beef noodle soup with such a strong tomato flavor (love it!).
The other sides I tried was the meatball — a sticky rice flour with meat inside and topped with a tangy red sauce on top. It had bamboo inside. Yummy!
Easily a great choice for lunch in a casual atmosphere. I enjoyed everything I tasted and won’t hesitate to go back again if i am ever in the area!
