I discovered this place while picking up food across the way. It is amazing; everything I like to eat under one roof. Frescas, paletas, chamango, and the list goes on. It’s a few minutes from my office, which may be a bad thing. My first visit I purchased many different ice cream bars and stuffed them in the fridge at work. Pistachio, coconut, and bubblegum are a few of my favs. While eating the coconut bar I noticed a hair frozen inside. I threw it away and proceeded to eat another, lol. You know it’s good because the hair didn’t even phase me. Being the greedy/always hungry person that I am I can never leave with just one thing. I always order hot Cheetos and nacho cheese in addition to my ice cream or drink. I can’t wait until my next visit so I can try something else

All I have to say is ANGELKISSES! I am totally obsessed with this ice cream! It has won a bunch of awards at the county fair. It’s the creamiest cherry ice cream with Marciano cherries, raisins and nuts. Can’t get enough.

Watered down flavorless crema! Crema should not be so thin that you can serve it out of a squirt bottle! I went here for fresas con crema but I won’t be returning. I’ll be trekking to Pico Rivera where they serve their thick delicious crema with a ladle!

Back in the 80’s I was a substitute teacher and worked at schools all over East LA and Highland Park. I really came to appreciate the street vendors who appeared after school. Fresh fruit sprinkled with chili and salt seemed very novel to me as a snack that kids would line up for; very unlike the ice cream truck of my youth. A little more familiar to me was the man selling the Mexican pop-cycles called paletas. The thing that made paletas exotic and exciting were some of the flavors that were available, and I absolutely fell in love with pepino con chile(cucumber and chili). Well one day after a ho-hum lunch at Subway, I noticed this place out of the corner of my eye and decided to wander in. I was presented with an astounding array of flavors from which to choose, but I bet you can guess which one I went for. I must admit this was different form the flavor I remembered, this was much less sweet, but it was still refreshing and tasty. The price for my pop was $ 1.60, and I believe if you buy a bunch the price goes down a little. I look forward to going back.

PALETASPALETASPALETASPALETASPALETASPALETASPALETAS Besides CARNITAS… Michoacan, MEXICO is well known for it’s Paleterias and their wide variety of flavors, La Michoacana does it right using the finest and freshest ingredients real fruit etc… to make their Paletas y Nieves, they have several locations if you’re ever near one of them stop by and check them out. I got a Paleta but was so excited to try the flavor I forgot to take a photo before I ate it all… Oops my bad! Chongos Zamoranos — I know right now you’re saying WHAT… chongos zamoranos is some kind of desert this dessert comes from Hidalgo, Michoacan something I’ve heard of but never tried before. These guys make it then chop up pieces and put it inside the paletas, I believe they also make an ice cream, the paleta was creamy and very good, these guys have a crazy flavor selection, their are so many that sound so good it’s hard to choose! 5-Stars Bionico — A variety of fresh fruit like Strawberry, Banana, Apple, Mango, Grape then topped with granola, raisins, shaved coconut and crema … freshness of the fruit and the Crema is what makes or breaks a Bionico, this was good, above average. 4-Stars Summer is almost here, come on down and get your Paletas y Nieves
