GWEN, Did the catering for my wedding on 9÷26÷15!!! From the beginning of planning my wedding she listened to what I wanted. She even did a walk through two weeks before the wedding to make sure everything she needed to make sure that my wishes were implemented. The food was amazing from the 4 choices of appetizers to the main course and to the most beautiful wedding cake!!! The was designed the way I had in visions it!!! The staff was great, too they set up the tables the way I wanted them to and they were friendly and dressed appropriately. Me and my new husband Matthew as well as our guests were very pleased with Gwen and how she put her loving touches into our WEDDING!!!

This is regarding the catering. The food was excellent. And, while the servers were here, they did a great job. But will someone please tell me why the hell they left the trash can full, and two full trash bags on the pantry floor? And, I had to mop the floors in the three rooms that they used, as well as cleaning all surfaces. They guests left two hours ago. But it took me two hours to clean up after the catering crew!

I stumbled upon this gem for my mother’s 70th birthday. It is very hard to find a bakery who does lemon cakes. Not only did they do the most delicious lemon cake it was cute as could be. Ms. Gwen was super friendly, super helpful and made a very satified customer who will be returning.

OMG! The Tarts are so amazing. I ordered 1 dozen sweet potato, lemon, apple, pecan and peach cobbler. All of them were equally tasty. The peach cobbler and apple tasted like mini pies. The size of the tarts were perfect, it was just enough to get all of the flavors. In addition, Miss Gwen is one of the nicest ladies, I have ever met.

Finally made it to Gwen’s! All the good reviews from people I know and respect were right on point. Gwen’s tarts are to die for. The pecan tart is a bite size treat. Can’t wait to try the lemon, sweet potato, cobbler and cakes — red velvet, coconut, German chocolate and yellow w/chocolate frosting.

I’m a huge fan of Sweet Red Bakery in Inglewood, however my friend suggested I try Gwen’s. Because I trust my friend and her palette, I decided to give this place a try… ohhhhh weeeee!!! Delicious Delicious Delicious … Customer Service-A++++ The bakery is very clean & very small, but small ok because the desserts are de-li-cious! Due to the fact that I arrived very close to closing time, there were only a few tarts left. They were amazing, very fresh, flaky crust, & simply divine. The coconut cake was moist & flavorful. As long as they continue to provide A+ customer service & provide fresh desserts I will be a return customer. Next on my list will be the beignets(I’ll make sure to post pics)

I absolutely love Gwen’s Tarts! They are so flavorful and fresh. I’ve never tasted a dessert so delicious before. I’ve also had Gwen cater a few of my daughters parties before and her food was to die for!

Gwen of Gwen’s Specialty Cakes is a very warm and professional person. She worked with me on a personal level to ensure I had the wedding cake of my dreams. Gwen went out of her way to ensure I was satisfied with her plans for my cake — she let me bring in pictures as examples, color swatches, and she even baked me a sample wedding cake to ensure that I knew exactly what the cake would taste like! She also personally set up my cake at my venue. I was completely satisfied by her professionalism and her cake looked and tasted amazing — like homemade, but better, and her rates are very fair. I can’t wait to work with Gwen again for my next event — I can’t think of another baker I would trust with my special events.

Tarts! Tarts! Tarts! I love Gwens Tarts… Pecan, Sweet Potato and the Lemon! I ordered cupcakes for my nephews 5th Birthday which were a big hit with the«Cars» theme. All I had to do was tell her what I needed and she came up with the best creative design. Gwen also catered my Grandmother’s 80th surprise birthday party and she is still talking about the food. Gwen has always been very professional and consistent. I wish her the best of look with the new expansion. Please stop by and enjoy a tart or two…

I have ordered Gwen’s Strawberry and cream cake twice. Both times the cake was killer. It tastes«real», is moist and not stupid sweet like it could be. I am not sure about her decorating skills because I always want the cake simple. Her prices are so reasonable it is almost unreasonable of her to be so cheap. her shop is next to a party store owned by a very nice Armenian family, so you can stop, get cake, walk over, get your fancy party crap… on your way… easy! If you are in a hurry or your pick up time is not flexible be sure to impress upon her that you are not playing around and she will get the cake done on time… if you act lax… she will be lax and you might have to wait… I don’t do waiting very well when I have deadlines. Support this small business, she is worth it!

I don’t know why it says the neighborhood is Crenshaw. This place is pretty much located around Centinela and La Brea in a little center with a party supply store. First, this place is like a mom and pop cake shop. I’ve drove past it and sometimes it’s open and other times it’s not. When I’ve called to ask questions, sometimes the phone is picked up and other times it’s not. Catch my drift… When you go inside, it doesn’t look like the cleanest most orderly place. There are also no cakes to look at through glass windows or cookies to pick out or cupcakes to drool over. Its just a desk, a computer desk and a couple refrigerator things to store the cakes in I guess. Oh… I almost forgot, there’s also a chair. Don’t get your hopes up because the chair is for Gwen not you :) Anyway, she seemed nice enough and pleasant. There were a few people in her shop giving their cake orders and showing her how they wanted the cake decorated and so forth. They seemed to be regulars. She does a variety of cakes, but I don’t know about her decorating skills because I’ve never seen any cake decorated by her. Also, her prices are extremely reasonable. My sister had ordered coconut cakes from here a few times before and they were always good. I probably should have let her order for me. The 9 inch coconut cake I received was cold and once I tasted the cake I immediately felt like it had been frozen. It just had a certain texture to it and didn’t taste as fresh as I’ve tasted her cakes in the past. It was still good though, but not OMG spectacular this time around. And you know what, I’m almost certain that she makes cakes for Dulan’s Soul Food kitchen on La Brea and Manchester because those cakes taste too similar not to come from Gwen’s. Anyway, I will definitely eat her coconut cake again if my sister orders it. Who knows… I may give her another chance myself.
