History

Established in 2008.

To say we are a coffeehouse or a community center describes part of who we are –after all we do serve hot beverages and we are a place that is accessible to the entire community, but it only tells part of the story. The term «third place» (the «first place» being the home and the «second place» being the workplace) is more accurate; we are indeed a place to gather, have a bite to eat, to read, and visit with friends. A more accurate description, but not complete.

Clark’s Corner is about connections. It’s the connections we have to our friends, our families, our town and our region. The connections to our grandparents and our children. Clark’s is a place that keeps each generation connected to the ones that came before and the ones who will follow.

Clark’s Corner is a place where each member of the community can connect with any other; whether at boisterous, large gatherings, or quietly in small groups over a hot cup of coffee.

Amador County is a rural California county with approximately 36,000 people. Known as a beautiful gateway to the popular gold and wine country areas of Northern California, Ione was originally known as an important supply center on the main road to the Mother Lode and Southern Mines during the California Gold Rush. Known for its fertile lands, it became an agricultural hub and important stage and rail stop for miners and prospectors. The town prospered during and after its gold rush founding. Several existing buildings from the mid-to-late 1800’s still exist.

While Ione was known as a critical stopping point in the 1800’s, times have changed. Alternative routes were created and the town has struggled to create new opportunities to remain relevant.

Luckily, the loyal residents of Ione and Amador County have worked hard over the years to create a number of popular destination points. Fortunately, the vision that Clark’s Corner had in 2008 has contributed
