History

Established in 1948.

Our firm opened in October 1976 on the second floor of the Stebbins Building in downtown Hastings. John L. Walker, CPA and Partner, founded the firm after four and one half years with a large international public accounting firm in their South Bend, Indiana office. Christopher J. Fluke, CPA and Partner, joined the firm as a staff accountant after his college graduation from Michigan Technological University in 1981. Katherine Sheldon, CPA and Partner, joined the firm as a staff accountant after her college graduation from Western Michigan University in 1992. We moved to the second floor of Mainstreet Savings Bank (presently Hastings City Hall) in 1988, and moved to our present location on Apple Street in October of 1994. David G. DeHaan, CPA and Partner, as of January 1, 2009, joined the firm in 1997, after graduating from Kalamazoo College with a Bachelors Degree.

Meet the Business Owner

Chris F.

Business Owner

I grew up in Hastings, attended Hastings High School, then spent four years at Michigan Technological University in Houghton where I received my BA in Business Administration and learned to downhill ski. Yes, it is cold up there in the winter, but it’s a «dry» cold. I began my career in accounting with John L. Walker, PC in 1981 and became a partner in 1990, when the firm’s name was changed to Walker & Fluke, Certified Public Accountants.

My specialties within the firm include:

Small business accounting and consulting

Individual and business tax preparation

Tax planning and consulting

Individual financial strategies

Estate planning

Computerized accounting systems

My goal is to provide clients not only with numbers, but to provide assistance and guidance with all their financial goals.
