Privateer Rum is a craft rum distillery located in Ipswich, MA.
There is no «good enough» at Privateer. No compromises. No shortcuts. Ever.
Privateers during the American Revolution were part patriot, part high-stakes entrepreneur. They took the fight for Independence to the British Crown in defiance of the formidable Royal Navy. Understanding the risk and perils, they captured British ships as prizes, or perished as pirates if caught.
Andrew Cabot (1750 – 1791) was a merchant and rum distiller who became one of the most successful American privateers. He deployed a fleet of ships including Pilgrim, Revolution and True American for which this Rum is named. He was said to be uncommonly clever and an astute judge of men and situations. Whether smuggling molasses past British patrols or prizing British ships, Cabot was a true American.
We launched Privateer Rum with two goals — creating better American rum and providing a great experience for the people involved including our customers, partners, advisors and friends.
We invite you to visit our distillery and experience a behind the scenes tour and tasting.
