This review is for Joanne [aka The Hair Fairy]. She’s my go-​to girl for hair fabulosity.
Yes, I’ve written a review for her before, but I think she’s evolving as an artist with time. More than her cuts, her coloring is magic and I leave feeling like I have a bippity-​boppity-​boo moment.
[I debated writing another review because I want to hoard her like a crazy 85 year-​old woman living with 16 cats. But I can’t keep this secret to myself. You’re welcome.]
In true fairytale fashion, you will look like Cinderella when you leave and live happily ever after.

I have been coming here for years and I went to Jonathan’s salon before that, all for one reason: Mary. She’s been doing my hair for 7 years and I have always loved what she has done. I started getting my hair done after a friend recommended the salon when I needed someplace to get my hair done for a dance. After a few times of getting updos I had her cut my hair and was so incredibly happy I did. It was amazing. I had given her an idea of what I wanted and she tweaked it to make it work for my hair type and face shape. I started dying my hair a couple years ago and we have tried overall dark with a hint of red, a soft ombré and highlights all over. Each style and color has gotten tons of compliments, more than any other style that other stylists have given me.
Mary currently works Thursday, Friday and Saturday, which works for me. She’s quick and knows what she’s doing, so you don’t waste your time sitting there. She has worked with various styles, colors and cuts, so don’t be afraid to go to her. She also does updos and make-​up if you are going to an event. The salon is nice and somewhat of an upscale place (compared to Fantastic Sam’s and such), so the price point is a bit higher, but I think it’s so worth it. Nothing crazy or outrageous, just more than a chain or whole in the wall salon.

I have been going to Ruby for a few years now. My hair always comes out great and she is always a joy to chat with.

I’m absolutely lazy when it comes to my hair, and admittedly, clueless.
So this is like my 6^th love letter to Joanne Kim?
That is why I STILL MUST go to Joanne. She forgives me for my cheap affairs with cheap hairstylists. She knows she’s far. She knows I gotta do something.
But I KNOW I MUST RENT A CAR and Fly in from LA. No one else is worth my time or money. I want to puke knowing I had affairs on her.
Joanne just makes my already perfectly straight hair effortlessly perfect in precise tiny fell swoops of her scissors.
Of course, I have to like «do» my hair: use a great conditioner, put a bit of mousse on and blow dry it dry. Nothing comes without some effort for a good done hair day.
I’m going out right now and I just remembered to make my hair look even better,…Khuyen! Spray hairspray to push my middle parted bangs back. Supermodel, heyyy!!!
Dang, I look effortlessly good and I totally feel great about my hair.
Never spend your beauty hair dollars elsewhere. She is worth that Drive.

Excellent haircut from Joanne! She gave me exactly what I asked for and was friendly and fun to chat with. The woman who works at the front desk is super professional and friendly as well. A++

Allison is the best! She does a great job, and everyone always compliments my hair after I see her. She’s lots of fun, but still professional, and REALLY great at what she does.
When I first started seeing Allison, my hair was shoulder-​length, and she gave me cute side-​swept bangs. Then, I wanted to go short so she gave me a cute short cut. I got so many compliments! Now, a few years later, I am growing it out again, and Allison has managed to keep it looking really cute even through the worst parts of the awkward growing-​out process! I always enjoy going to see Allison and live how I look when I leave. I can’t recommend her highly enough!

I swear I love everything she does! She is sensitive to my embarrassing fear of change! Got bangs finally and new cut. LOVE it! Not to mention I have CURLY hair! The cut and bangs are perfect for straight, big body, or curls!
Her coloring is amazing too. She can do crazy colors to the most beautifully natural blonde. Ive seen her do it all, I am a brunette with an ombré color. The trendy dark then light at ends =)
She is always on TIME too. Love her to death, what are you waiting for???

My stylist is MARY.
I’ve followed her since I was introduced to her at Jonathan Martin Salon in Irvine (before they closed their doors). She’s been my only hair-​gal for over 7+ years!!! She’s super professional, funny, and someone you can talk on a personal level. She keeps track of what was done to your hair in her index log which I love because every customer should have a stylist that knows and wants to remember what they’re doing.
I’ve had botch jobs in the past which had traumatized me and left me cutting my own hair for over 3 yrs until a friend begged me try out Mary. She keeps up to date on the new techniques and works on you from beginning to end… washing/​shampooing your hair until the very end. The only time she’ll have someone wash your hair is if she has double-​booked. But she’ll let you know this before the appt is even confirmed.
I’ve referred her to friends and co-​workers for coloring, cuts, and even Brazilian blow-​outs! She definitely gives you a great bargain for referrals and if you’ve been a long-​time dedicated client.
Mary has done everything on me you can possibly think of… from jet blonde locks, to dark hair, multi-​blonde tones, and layered cuts. I give her the basics of what I want (cut length, color, etc) and let her roll with whatever else she wants to do. For those of you who are very specific and PICKY, be very clear on what you want. Its always good to bring in a photo of what your looking to achieve. Mary is very reasonable and accommodating if something came out they way you didn’t want it too.
Before you book, please note that she only works certain days of the week. I usually go on Saturdays. The salon itself is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Mary works on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (I think)…
NOTE: The salon offers beverages and white/​red wines while you’re getting beautified… And for those of you questioning the prices, it really depends on what you consider expensive and what you feel REAL QUALITY is worth.

I am very disappointed while reading these reviews because no one mentions my stylist, Ruby!!! I’ve never tried any of the other stylists there, but I’ve followed Ruby since her days at Carlton Hair in Irvine. I’ve been going to her for the last 5+ years and have never been disappointed. She leaves my hair looking and feeling like silk. Plus, thanks to her wonderful thinning shears skills, I no longer have a huge pouf of hair. She’s to thank for all the compliments I get, even months after my latest cut/​color. It’s been a while, so I think I need to give her a call! And you should too, you won’t regret it!

Joanne will make you feel beautiful!

After graduating from college and getting a better paying job, I figured it was time to upgrade my hair game.
I’ve been going to Paul Mitchell the School (Costa Mesa & SD) for all my haircutting needs throughout my years in college, and I’ve never had a bad experience. To be quite honest, my hair grows way too fast for me to shell out $$$ every 2 months.
After doing extensive research (on Unilocal,duh), I decided that AG Lounge was the place for me, and that I wanted Joanne to work on me.
It was rather difficult to make an appt at AG because they never picked up my phone calls. After that hurdle, it was all smooth sailing.
I arrived, and I didn’t have to wait an additional 10 – 15 mins (like I usually do at the PM school). Joanne is very knowledgeable, and she listened to what style I wanted and tweaked it slightly so that it would work better with my face, hair type, and everyday styling. Not to mention that the girl consulted, washed, cut, and styled my hair in under an hour! She’s a cool girl, and a great person to talk to. This made time fly by even faster.
If I had the money, I would keep going back to Joanne. She’s amazing, but unfortunately, my student loans are looming, and I’ve got to start eliminating some extravagance so that I can afford it later on down the road :)

I’ve always been a very particular gal. I remember when I used to refuse to buy silk blend clothing. It had to be 100% pure silk or I’d turn my nose up to it. Funny, things still haven’t changed much when it comes to my hair.
If I find someone I like at a store, I’ll keep going to that same person for my needs. Same applies to massage therapists, trainers, etc. Hair stylists are no different. They can either make or break how you feel about yourself. That’s why they call hair the Crowning Glory. It’s one of the first things people notice next to eyes.
My 1^st stylist I fell in love with got so popular, he upped his prices & moved to a location too rich for my taste. Luckily, I found another AMAZING hairstylist by referral, but then he packed up & moved without notifying his clients. What a terrible feeling it can be when your hair stylist deserts you. Guess I got to know firsthand how stylists who are ditched by clients without reason feel.
JESSICA AGUILAR was referred to me. She was working just out of Chino Hills at the time so it was quite a distance. But I am willing to drive a good distance for fantabulous service. It’s that loyalty thing.
The woman can color! And when the roots grow out… the color was done so properly, that the roots look good! Whoa! Stop the presses! Roots look good? Yeah… and unfortunately because I couldn’t see her on Saturdays as often as I would’ve liked because the distance, my hair would have long periods of root growth.
And she’s such a sweetheart! Soft touch on your head. Even the sound of her voice is sweet. Yeah, I know that sounds weird but ever have a stylist or therapist with a horrible voice? And they keep talking? You know what I’m talking about. She’s super professional. And she’s gorgeous to boot! I know, I’m saying weird things. But when you’re being taken care, it doesn’t hurt that the person taking care of you is attractive ;). Don’t lie… you’d prefer attractive over not.
I was soooooooooooo HAPPY when Jessica decided to work out of AG. After 4 years of seeing her way up there, she’s close by! YES! No more good looking roots! Plus if I need emergency hair done, she’s nearby! So now my Crowning Glory looks exactly that ALL the time now.

I found Corinne H. at AG Lounge on another website similar to Unilocal,and since she was the most reviewed I booked an appointment with her. I have been going to her for two years now, and I can’t believe how great she is every time.
The first time I walked in to see her, I had verrry long hair and I asked her to chop it to my shoulders because my other stylist wouldn’t do it and always talked me out of it.
I couldn’t have found a better new person! The cut was the best cut I have ever had, and she still continues to do amazing work. I even took my clip in extensions to her to see if she could blend them with my hair cut, and she was more than happy to do that for me.
She really listens to the color you ask for, the look you are going for and executes it wonderfully.

Allison is a great hairstylist! I have been seeing her for about a year now and have never been disappointed. She is very friendly and sweet, listens to my concerns, and gives great advice on what I can do with my hair. I always love my haircuts and color! Best of all, she takes the time to do a great job. Some of the hairstylists that I had in the past seemed like they were rushing to do their job, just so they could squeeze in as many appointments as they could in their schedule. I would recommend Allison to everyone!

Joanne Has been doing mine, my daughter’s and my husband’s hair for over 10 years now and we love her. She is an expert in her craft and we won’t go anywhere else for our hair.

JOANNE KIM IS A ROCK STAR!!!
I’m a veteran hairdresser of 14 years and Joanne is one of 5 people on the planet who can cut my hair and I am always 110% happy. Hyperbole? No. She gives me EXACTLY what I want but better. Joanne is a perfectionist, which means it’s DOUBLY hard to give me the kind of cuts I like, perfectly imperfect. Usually I give up and cut it myself because I’m in NYC and my gal in in the OC. But when we can get together it’s hair magic.
Joanne is also a top notch colorist. I’ve seen a TON of her work and she has everything in the world to be proud of. She is more than gifted, she is responsible, meticulous, fun, creative and versatile.
