I called on a Tuesday to see if they had any openings for partial highlights and the man on the phone said I could come in at 6:30. When I walked in, I was not greeted and then waited in the waiting room in the very back of the salon. At 6:45 I asked to use the restroom and didn’t get any inquiry about the wait. At 6:50 I paced around the salon and heard the receptionist say to someone «she’s waiting on partial highlights», yet still no-​one approached me. I stood at the door and paced the salon again. I finally left at 6:55. It is 7:10 and no one has even tried to call me.

After reading some of the reviews from this place I was a little skeptical about the type of servic I might be in for. However, I am pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the color turned out. The stylist is Rachelle, a professional and awesome colorist. She started working her magic right away, consult was quick and the result is, well look at that color… Yep I’ll be back =] thank you for the calming tea.

I am so pleased with the cut and color I received from Rochelle. Before she started to cut my hair, we talked about a couple of different ways to cut and color it and I am so happy with how my hair turned out. I usually am never a fan of how my hair is styled when I leave, but she made my hair look so pretty and even gave me some tips on how to style it. Rochelle is so sweet and I am looking forward to my next appointment with her!

I have been going there for 5 years and Stephanie has always done a great job on my hair color and cut. Prices have gotten a little high, but I blame that on the Irvine company.

Have been coming here for years and Sahera is the best colorist and always listens to what I want to do with my hair! Always leave happy especially after I have had one of their complimentary hand massages!

Excellent! I was able to get in last minute. It was conveniently walking distance from the office and I got a prefectly done ombré by rachelle. She listened to everything i wanted and even took the time to look at pictures i brought in to help pick what look would be best for me. She listened to my budget and worked with what i had in mind and recommended a few things. I also got my eyebrows waxed in the spa and gotta say i have never felt so relaxed and calm for a waxing. The atmosphere there is awesome. I didnt get the estheticians name but she was very nice and welcoming. I would defineatly recommend and most defineatly return. Very satisfied with my visit.

The few times that I have gone to this salon I call in and they say to come in at a certain time. When I arrive no one is available. Last time I was there I waited 30 minutes. Oh and don’t get fooled by the «free samples» the samples are the size of a penny. The stylist said the owner is cheap with the samples.

I’ve been getting my haircut here for almost 5 years, and after the last visit I will NEVER go back.
Recently I went to get a men’s haircut, and the stylist who has always cut my hair was noticeably intoxicated. It wasn’t just «a drink at lunch», as her hands were shaky, she smelled like a bar, repeated herself constantly, knocked over her tray of scissors, and could barely put the hair dryer back in the holder. A disaster.
My hair was effectively mangled (I’ve since had it cut very short to help recover), and there were times the scissors were dangerously close to my eye. Because I had known the stylist for so long, I decided not to make a scene.
Later, I did attempt to contact the owner, but he wasn’t around and so I left a message. A week passed and I was never contacted. I’m left with the only option of leaving a negative review here to serve as a warning to others. Please use caution before visiting this salon.

Went in today to get my 10 year old daughters hair cut and was turned away, she said their policy is 13 and over I thought this was strange and checked their website and their policy clearly states ages 10 and up…

Located in the Spectrum center makes this hair salon extra inviting. Unlike most salons, Aveda consistently offers a pleasant experience with calming aromas, low-​noise level dryers and void of gossip!
The head massages with shampooing is to-​die-​for!

Rhetorical question to self: Why didn’t I read these reviews prior to going? The summarized version is don’t go here!!! I made an appointment and went in for a hair color. I showed a picture of the color I wanted and was informed it was too hard for them do. Then we spent 20 minutes looking for another color to dye my hair. We settled on one that they stated they could do. Then they had me wait 30 minutes for a stylist to see me (despite having an appointment). Finally, the stylist colors my hair and finishes 4 hours later… and it LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURE. It looks like trash. It looks like how I walked in. It looks like I haven’t colored my roots in months. It was a joke, plain and simple. I told them I’m going to have to go to another salon to correct this shoddy work. The stylist tells me there wouldn’t be a charge. THEN… a Persian male (the owner) comes out of nowhere and mentions he wants full price for the botched job (approx. $ 200). If it wasn’t so outrageous, it would be funny. They stated if I didn’t pay, I couldn’t leave. If I tried, they would call security. They tried to slightly negotiate the price, but it didn’t matter. To me, it was the principle. Why pay for something you didn’t receive? They stated they only wanted debit or cash to pay for the botched job (so that I could’t dispute it with my c/​c company). I was outraged by this. Not only did they give me a terrible hair color, but they also had me cancel and/​or late for several appointments (by taking 4 hours to complete the work), not to mention I had an event to go to the following day and showed up with my hair looking like s#!t. Also should be noted, they left hair dye all along my face — which was very hard to take off once I got home, despite using a hair color remover solution. Aveda has stated this is not their salon, but moreso they sell products for the salon to use as well as their name.

My hair was great initially, the price was overcharge for services, her asking price before services was around $ 200.00 but she tried to get $ 300.00 and settled for $ 250.00 On the next visit the stylist seemed to not want me as a customer. I was told to finish my wet hair myself with a blow dryer, and the color washed out in two shampoos. My first visit cost over $ 250,00.but she wanted more money for the color and style, and she wanted more money for products, and the style. The second visit she promised the cost would be $ 85,00. for just touch up roots, I was charged over $ 150.00., and that color washed out in 2 shampoos, at home, showing my roots, as if nothing was done.
As I said the first visit was my hair was beautiful and her treatment was very nice, the second visit was a get rid of me and overcharge on both visits.

Every stylist I’ve seen has been wonderful. Love the location. However, parking isn’t always great. Their tea is amazing! I definitely would recommend this salon to everyone.

I chose this location out of pure convenience, honestly. I live nearby and practically live at the Irvine Spectrum, so it made sense to find a new salon rather than traveling 30+ miles to my old stylist/​salon. I was very reluctant to come due to the poor reviews but I’m glad I went with my gut instinct rather than the low star rating on Unilocal.
I, naturally, have dark Asian hair so whenever it’s dyed, it tends to turn orange rather quickly. Looking to get rid of the awful brassiness and wanting to get rid of my ombré color, I opted to go dark brown. I was definitely satisfied with Courtney’s expertise and assistance in choosing a color. I wasn’t really sure what to expect going in, but I’m definitely glad I did.
I’m here today in the chair, as she changes my hair color yet again (I change it every few months) and I expect nothing but great results from her!

Amazing salon! From the moment I walked in I felt I walked into a great place. I was greeted, offered some tea to drink and given magazines to entertain myself with. My stylist went over my hair cut needs and she was amazing! I left with the superb hair cut and color and even the texture of my hair feels different. I can’t say enough of this place, I was very impressed, which I am often not. Nicole is the best and I will definitely be going back. I also get treatments done with Relli. She is super sweet and takes her time. No rushing any treatment. I love this place and it’s definitely worth the drive for me.

I have been going to this salon since I was in high school! Since I am in my mid-​twenties now, that is almost ten years! I use to go to the one located near Trabuco but since I don’t feel like spending the gas money to get to a place that is so far from the freeway, I have been going to this location. I have always liked the hair cuts that I get from here, until recently… hence the sub-​par stars.
My hairdresser that I had cut my hair into a longer bob style, and though I am sure there are people out there who could rock it, it didn’t really fit me very well. Here is the thing, she had cut my hair the previous year into the same exact style and it looked fantastic! I wasn’t sure what the problem was but I went back so we could see what we could do with it. It wasn’t a bad hair cut, it just wasn’t for me. My dissatisfaction came from the way she handled the re-​do (so to speak.) I showed her additional pictures that may have showed her the look I was going for, and rather then trying to understand, she immediately told me that it was a styling issue on my part! Look– I get it. I am no hairstylist. But I can straighten my own hair– and I at least know what’s acceptable and what’s not acceptable to me! That should be enough. I said «Okay…» and she began to straighten my hair. (I had only blow dried my hair, since I went on a run earlier that day and did not have time to ‘style it’ in a manner that would have perhaps made her assume that the issue was not about ‘styling’). I then asked if maybe she could add some layers so it wasn’t so blunt on the bottom. I don’t think she took her time at all to do this, because I ended up with VERY short strands that were uneven, and looked awkward. There was no blending between the shorter ends on the longer layers. I tried to work with it, (which is why this review is 2 months later from the appointment) in fact I suspended my initial anger because I was hoping after a week it would sort of settle as some hair cuts do… But I can unequivocally say that this is the worst hair cut experience I have ever had. I look like I have a hair cut from 2005 when the whole mullet, random short layers was actually popular.
I really think this experience is due to the way the hairstylist handled the second appointment. I think if she maybe tried to be more attentive to the clients needs, rather then make an assumption about my own hair styling abilities, the second appointment would have went much differently. Grant it– I don’t know much about hairstyling techniques or the vocabulary that maybe hairstylist would use to communicate how to do a certain style, but I am sure that is the case with most of Belle Isle’s clients– so it is my honest opinion that they need to take the time to listen! Or at least really try and look at the picture that you show them. I know how to straighten or curl my hair however, so the reason that I don’t like something isn’t a flaw on my part– nor is it necessarily the stylist– I just wasn’t satisfied with how I looked. Mind you, I am not a bad client I tip well and I even tipped her for the time she took to butcher my hair the second time. Since fantastic hair is the ‘product’ that they are selling, I would suggest they go about their customer service differently since fantastic hair was not what I felt I got… and for the amount that you pay??? pshhhhhh forget it.
Unfortunately, I won’t be back for this reason.

WORST SALON EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I went in to get my hair done low lights and high lights and came out looking like a zebra with white blonde highlights and dark brown almost black low lights all over… And to make it worse it was spotted like cheetah stripes, as soon as I noticed I went in and they tried to fix it but I still see a lot of cheetah spots the girl that did my hair kept poking my face and eyes when she was dying it so un — professional and so messy, when she was blow drying my hair she kept hitting me on my shoulder with the round brush BEYOND disappointed at this salon and to top it off it was $ 160 for the messiest job ever I highly do not recommend this place at all

Absolutely terrible location :(I should say if you are considering Aveda their products and HB salon is amazing. This particular location not so much.
I’ve been going to the one in HB for ten years now but we moved to Laguna so I thought I’d give it a shot because HB was a little far. Omg so first of all they don’t level their stylists so you can end up with a complete amateur or pro it’s just luck of the draw. For a haircut levels aren’t that important but when doing color as I did it you need a pro. Her name was Rachelle and not only did she make my partial highlights super light (I have black hair) the placement was horrific! It was so chunky and just so bad.
I came back and they admitted it was terrible and the only option I had for correcting it was to do an all over color, which means I no longer have highlights.
My hair has now been colored twice in two days and instead of offering a complimentary treatment or something she’s like you should get one to avoid damage but we have to charge you. So I spend 250 for highlights I don’t even get because she had to do an all over color and you want to charge me for a treatment for damage to my hair that you created. For reals? Never coming here again and will be making the drive out to HB. Left day 2 paying 103. Seriously so a total of 353 for basically a haircut. Ridiculous. Will never be lazy again and will make the drive to HB. Really wish I had read the Unilocal reviews before I went.
Will be contacting customer care, lets see what they say.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON!
I got my haircut yesterday at this salon and the stylist cut my neck with the clippers. It hurt when it happened but I didn’t realize how bad the cut was until I shampooed my hair this morning and it hurt SO bad! When I looked in the mirror I saw how severe the cut on my neck was. I was afraid that someone else may have been cut by the clippers as well and who knows if their blood was on the clippers too… I called the manager today to let her know what happened and after several phone calls I finally got through. She didn’t apologize, she called me a liar and said that the clippers didn’t cut people and then hung up on me! You read that right, she HUNG UP ON ME! I called the Aveda Corporate offices and filed a formal complaint. Do yourself a favor and don’t get your hair done at this salon.
