Chaparral Park

I came late afternoon and there were a couple of people there. I made it to the top and the view was nice.

Nice spacious park, green all around. You can access the Turtle Rock Viewpoint Trail from here (to the very right of the park). There’s a playground for kids, families come here at all times of the day.

The park, trails and bench up the hill close at sunset. Police have been patrolling regularly and sitting at the bottom of the hill, ticketing because its illegal to park in the neighborhood unless you live there. Residents call the police at any little thing. Not worth it.

Excellent neighborhood park to meet up with friends afterschool. Beware though… no bathrooms!

Interesting park located right next to the Turtle Rock Trailhead. Park itself is pretty average but nice.

the bench at the top is a great romantic spot, especially if you watch the sunset.
watch out for mosquitoes, though!

I love the hill in this park, there is a great view from the top, and its a nice spot to observe the meteor showers from. Not to mention I just feel accomplished after I climb the damn thing to the top!
the rest of the park isnt awful either. the whole thing is on a hillside so its not really flat anywhere except for the soccer field that butts up against the elementary school. but if you want to do a picnic or anything there are some tables with the attached benches scattered around on the mostly flat areas.
The whole playground was re-​done a few years ago and its all plastic and safety edged and there is a recycled rubber walkway around the whole thing. Its really cool. I actually like coming by after the kids have cleared out around dusk and swinging on the swings.
This is also one of those parks that has a «fitness trail» where you can go through the different stations along the route and do all the exercises it instructs you to.
I can rant like an old person about the kids that cause trouble late at night, but the popo seem to have taken an interest lately so at least its moderated.

There is a part of the park where you climb a million stairs and climb up a hill. On top of the hill is where you will see a beautiful view of the city lights. This is a really romantic place to take someone but only if you’re willing to do a little exercise to get up the hill.
