My wife and I love this campus. It’s a hidden gem. There is security at the gate to check you in (NOT LIKE ITS NEEDED WE ARE IN IRVINE, ONE OF THE SAFEST CITIES IN THE USA), security driving around the campus and staff always around.
We have come here for weekend retreats and concerts in the park. When our son gets to the point he’s looking at colleges (he’s 5 now) we will most definitely recommend CONCORDIA!

After visiting several other universities in the mid-​West, my son and I came to CUI. I knew immediately I would love this place but my son wanted to keep an open mind. We visited the and the admissions office even scored us tickets to a theatre production on campus. By the time we were leaving, my son was sold. The people were so friendly, both staff and students. This is what I call a true Christian school. Its teaching are Christian, not just in name. When we were there for freshman orientation, I was able to talk to other parents and found out how many people who were not Lutheran were sending their children here for that same reason. During orientation, we were able to talk to some of the professors and various admin people. It was amazing how friendly they were and how willing they were to talk. The campus is gorgeous and feels very secure. It has two entrances, both gated. I felt very good about sending my son to California from Texas.
FAST FORWARD 2 ½ years… my son is now a Junior at CUI and it has been a wonderful experience. I’ve visited the campus multiple times to see plays as he is a theatre major. The classes are small and my son knows all his professors well. He has gotten to know the people in the various offices. When he flies back to CUI after a holiday, I will text him asking him if he is «home» because that is what CUI and all the people there have become. He has made some life-​long friends and is so happy there. The school has great financial aid and scholarships. If you are interested in a small, private school with high standards, give CUI a look. I’m already wanting my next child to go there if she wants.

I am a current MBA student at Concordia, and so far, I am really glad I made the decision to attend Concordia. First of all, all the instructors I’ve had are all very well qualified. They all have had decades of senior level executive experiences at major corporations in significant leadership roles. When they teach, they bring their past experiences which makes the lessons come to life and practical. This is vitally important for me in a Business school. The instructors are also very approachable and always very willing to help. Class sizes are small (10 – 20), so there’s plenty of opportunities to connect with the instructors or fellow students. Administratively, I’ve never had an issue with contacting the adviser, the financial aid office, the bookstore, their IT helpdesk or anyone. They always return calls or emails very timely.
If you’re considering a MBA program, I would definitely recommend Concordia.

Concordia university on the surface looks like a good place to go to further your education. However as a previous reviewer stated it is very disorganized and run like a glorified high school. The staff is very condescending and rude and you could get little assistance when requested. For the money your are paying in excess of 28k a year you don’t get your monies worth. Go somewhere cheaper… not worth the money and headaches

Transferring to a University can be quite a difficult task. I never thought I could afford to attend a private college. For a long time I was only looking at state schools. With most of them being impacted in my major (Communication) I did not have much hope of getting in. It wasn’t until my mom’s boss told me to look at private institutions that I ran across Concordia University Irvine. This was the best decision I had ever made. I ended up applying to Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton, CUI and Chapman. To my large surprise I was accepted into all four schools. I now had a decision to make. I wanted to save money, but was very intrigued by the small school size of Concordia. I knew Chapman was way to expensive for me, so that was out of the question. I attended CU Première and fell in love with CUI’s campus. It was such beautiful scenery and the people I met were so nice and helpful. I felt like I was already a student there. Not only did I love all of these attributes, but Concordia also gave me an academic scholarship. At that point it was not difficult to choose Concordia University Irvine.
I attended CU Première thinking that I was going to be a commuter student. A few weeks after CU Première I decided that I was going to live in the dorms. I had such a fun time living with my fellow students. I am now a Senior and will be graduating in May 2014. My professors here all know who I am by name and most of them know a good amount about my life. They are all so easy to talk to and really make you feel like you matter. I never have problems getting classes and even if I did I know that that Concordia would be there to help me every step of the way. I have never been a straight A student, but in first my semester at CUI I received my first ever straight A’s. I think this definitely shows how great the academics and professors are.
I know I have been strictly singing Concordia’s praises, but there truly is not a lot I do not like about this school. Everything that I may not particularly love gets made up for by the other advantages that this university has over others.
I am so happy that I chose Concordia and am excited to be finishing out my Bachelors Degree at such a great university.

Probably the worst institution I have ever experienced in my life.
I played on the softball team at Concordia University for about a semester and eventually just quit and left the glorified high school altogether. In my short time attending the school, I quite possibly met the absolute rudest people I will ever encounter in my lifetime. Every single person I met there was extremely pretentious and condescending, especially the faculty and staff members. Certain coaches on certain sports team [cough cough] would openly talk behind peoples’ backs and make fun of certain players after they’d just walked away. If that’s not enough, I was absolutely a victim of bullying from the coaches, let alone the other players and other students in general. [keep in mind this is a «Christian» Institution]. The professors I had there, with the exception of one, were all condescending, pompous jerks. One could argue that this instance would be at any University, but keep in mind that Concordia is an extremely small school, maybe 25 students per class, this type of attitude is extremely frustrating when you feel like you’re basically in high school all over again.
The registration/​counseling system is EXTREMELY disorganized! Normal colleges have registration times set during waking hours, I mean maybe it’s just me but that definitely seems like a logical concept. But not Concordia! As a freshman, our registration time is at 12 midnight. Makes sense. –_​_​_​–
And there aren’t enough classes for everyone, even though the University forces you to take said classes in what they call their «Core System». Yes, a «liberal Arts» school that forces you to take their classes. The word ‘liberal” means «freedom»…clearly someone in charge there is a complete idiot. While I was there, I was taking 16 units, I only had 1 class for general ed, and 1 class for my actual major, the rest were for the core system and were chosen for me by their crappy, inexperienced counselors.
Oh and to top that off, they placed me in a hybrid class, half online and half in real world. I wasn’t informed of this apparently insignificant detail until midway through the semester, by which time I was already pretty much failing.
The rest of their disorganization was distributed to their campus. While yes, I definitely cannot deny its aesthetically pleasing qualities, I can say that its architects definitely forget to actually put direction signs up around the campus. And for that matter, they also clearly lacked creativity because every single building looks exactly the same, except for the chapel [go figure] which in my opinion is stupid looking anyway.
And don’t even get me started on their food! I’ve seen fruit flies, spiders, hair, you name it, in and around the food. No surprise, nothing EVER tasted fresh. I’m pretty sure i chipped a tooth on a croûton…
All-​in-​all, Concordia University was absolutely the worst thing that’s ever happened to me, and believe me, that’s saying a lot. I’ve never met bigger hypocrites or un-​Jesus-​like people ever in my life. Hopefully they make some changes there. I can’t say that I don’t wish everyone I dealt with horrible diarrhea though.

Beautiful, beautiful campus! I am excited to be attending here!
If you’re a photographer or an artist, you can draw up some inspiration from this place as it overlooks a great view from being on top of the hill.

There is a lot to like about this school, and one short Unilocal review would never get into why this place is great. Let my start by saying if you are honestly looking at Unilocal to find a review on a university, and take all of the reviews seriously, you’re a fool. Secondly, this place isn’t for everyone. If you are looking for a easy way to get a B. A, and just want a piece of paper, there are many more cheap and easy options out there. If you want a place to party, get drunk every night, and barely show up to class, this place isn’t for you. If you want to learn, however. If you want to broaden your horizons and get a phenomenal liberal arts education (which our Core program is nationally recognized as among the finest) come here! We would love to have you, and not only that, this school guarantees your success.

The campus is beautiful, peaceful and very quiet. We went just before lunch. I don’t know if school was in session but as we looked around the campus, we started getting hungry and decided to stop at their food place. It was very reasonable and good for students. Prices for guests were good too.
We were just visiting so I don’t know about the school itself.

I love this place. As a school, it has great teachers and professors, plus a staff who really seems to care about its students. If you are coming here for a conference or meeting, take advantage of who beautiful the campus is.

As college cafeterias go, I really can’t complain about Concordia’s. I lived on campus for 4 years and ate in the caf almost every day without getting sick of it. Bön Appetit does a great job of providing variety and also responding to what students want. Definitely not the typical college dining hall that most people dread.

The Eagle Rock Café has a cool diner vibe with solid food choices. The staff was very supportive of my gluten free needs. Nice hangout.

Been visiting the campus lately, and I really enjoy the Starbucks (Emendare) for a coffee and very good pastries! Great place to hang out with students, study, plan, and talk about life!

I don’t understand what you review when your college is on Unilocal.So far everyone has picked the MAIS program (I don’t know what that its) and the caf (I only lived on campus one semester, I’m under qualified to judge. But it is ran by an outside company separate from the school and it never tried to give me salmonella. Maybe that’s helpful). So maybe I’ll take a stab at academics, since other colleges on Unilocal seem to have people talking about that…
I’m an undergraduate at CUI, and I love it. Love. It has all the perks you want from a small, private university. Classes are small, professors learn your name and are competent in their subject area, people return emails and phone calls, and not once have not been able to take a class I need because it’s too full. The campus is easy to navigate, and it’s pretty.
It is a Lutheran university (and I am a Lutheran student) and it is best know for its church workers program (which is, in fact, outstanding), but there are other reasons to go to school here.
From personal experience, this is an excellent school for anyone who wants to become a teacher and it has an excellent reputation with the schools in the surrounding area which helps with the job hunt later. I’m also a history major and if I wasn’t a Lutheran student, I would still go here for that program alone.
One of the other things I like is that there isn’t a mandatory chapel requirement like Biola and Azusa Pacific have. Chapel is offered, the campus pretty much shuts down and yeah, I go and I like it. But I think I like going in part because it’s not a graduation requirement, it’s a personal choice.
Anyway, if you want a small private school experience, especially a Christian one, check out CUI. I’ve always felt like I’ve got my tuition’s worth out of it.

If you want to visit this campus, you need to watch out.
As a visitor, I went to the school cafeteria to eat lunch today.
The sandwich contained raw chicken. I asked for a partial refund, the staff members just told me to get something else to eat. I would not give in. Finally, they asked the assistant/​operational manager named Cecilia to talk to me. She said that since this is an all you can eat buffet, she cannot give me a refund. She said that she would treat me lunch the next time I come in. Are you freaking kidding me? Why in the world will I ever come back? How dare you to make me feel cheap!
So in the end, they served raw chicken, and I did not even get a dime back. Even worse, I asked this manager if there’s a wellness/​health center on campus because I did eat some raw chicken. She said that the wellness center is only for the students. So she did not even bother giving me the directions to the wellness center. And she’s right.
I asked another student how to get to the wellness center. The nurse there told me that they could only help the students. There’s nothing that she could do. The administrative assistant was nice enough to give me a sheet of walk-​in clinics. The nurse was just as cold as you could get.
After I got home, I called the school to file a complaint. A lady told me to contact the manager Kevin Callahan directly. I emailed him and told him about the incident, and he never got back to me.
What a horrible school. So much about being Christians. They should be ashamed of themselves.

After completing all the work for the class the Prof. gave me an F and the administration backed him up. Moral of the story; when you fill out the teacher survey at the end of the class do not say anything negative about the Prof. or it will affect your grade. Two students wrote bad reviews about Professor Podobas and both students received «F“‘s. So, just blow smoke on their reviews and write what you really think under a pseudonym on www. Rate my Professor. com.

the school is tiny. ran into a LOT of people i knew in the cafeteria. my brother also works here.
now for the review…
went to the cafeteria and received no explanation on how the food lines work. well. here’s how i think it works… there’s a slip that has about 10 menu items on there which included; 1) hamburger, 2) cheeseburger, 3) garden burger, 4) quesadilla, 5) patty melt, 6) tuna melt, 7) grilled cheese, 8) something else and 9) the SPECIAL (listed on the kitchen counter). you can circle as MANY dishes as you want. they put it ALL on one plate, so don’t go too crazy. I ordered the tuna melt, cheese burger and quesadilla with provolone and fries (mmz). i wanted to circle almost everything but instead my coworker and i split menu items so that we can try a little bit of everything. my plate was PACKED!
theres all sorts of sauces (like over 10 of them) for you to choose from. i chose tapatio and A1(my FAVORITE!)!!! XD
there’s also soup, salad bar, dessert (cookies, yogurt, breads, and FRUIT!) we didnt make it to the dessert bar b/​c the cafeteria closed by the time we were ready for dessert. :/​
this is by far the BEST AYCE (probably one one too) that i have ever been to. I hope FaCT puts on another training here so i can get my nom nom on.
Cafeteria closes at 1p. you can dine in or get a togo container for 25 cents!
