Dr. Phuong Chi Phan

When I finally saw the doctor, she just went over things I could’ve gone over myself with the help of Google. I could’ve better diagnosed myself.
I asked the doctor if I needed a blood test. She says I only need one every 5 years. To me, that sounds a bit off… I’m no doctor here, but I think one should at least get a blood test annually to make sure all their levels are ok.
They made me pay a co-​pay. This is understandable. However, it was cash only. They don’t accept card or check. I didn’t have any cash on me, so I had to leave the place, find a Chase, and go back. Get out of the medieval age, and at least accept check. Godddamn. Not ever coming back here again.

Dr. Phan has been my primary care for many years. Yes, the wait time can be excessive. On the phone, the girls have absolutely no personality. The waiting room is average and I wasn’t that happy to see a kid friendly area there because I intentionally picked her many years ago as an internist and not GP. No offense, I don’t like being around sick kids or around kids when I’m sick. With that said… I’ve kept Dr. Phan so many years because she’s a good doctor. I went in for a simple skin condition I’ve had before and asked if she could give me a prescription for a topical that worked in the past. She wrote the prescription, but gave me an over-​the-​counter, cheaper alternative. It worked! She knows I have asthma and allergies. I’ve been to doctors that won’t refill my prescription because they have to «see» me first. Why? Allergies run in my family. There’s nothing new to see. Dr. Phan has renewed my allergy, asthma and certain other female prescriptions over the phone… no visit necessary. She sent in a prescription so I could get medical equipment for my asthma free. When my allergies were at their worse, she wrote me referrals to an ENT and allergy doc. Can I tell you how hard it is to get referred to a specialist when you have an HMO?! I tend to have ortho-​type injuries; skiing, softball, boarding… it’s nice to just get the referral to an ortho specialist instead of «Here, take some pain pills and see me in a month if it still hurts.» Referrals, prescriptions, lab work, wellness in general, Dr. Phan is there and doesn’t play games. The wait in the waiting room is well worth it… to me. Oh, and, yes, Dr. Phan is not a very talkative person. She says what she needs to when she needs to. I honestly feel it’s a cultural thing.

Dr. Phan did what she was supposed to do and did it fast. My mom had a surgery last year and needed to undergo general anesthesia. The office recommended her for the clearance, as you can get in relatively fast, get the EKG in her office and labs downstairs. All the same day. Sometimes just to get in for an EKG you have to wait for a week, then review, etc.
She reviewed everything and cleared my mom for surgery. It was quick, painless and not too costly. Other doctors charge an arm and a leg for the same service.

My father has MediCal. He is a cancer survivor with a history of open heart surgery two years ago. It was very difficult to find a doctor who would accept this insurance in Irvine. Dr. Phan accepted my father as a new patient. It is true that the waiting time in her office is too long. However, the quality of her service exceeded our expectations. She was very thoughtful examining my Dad. She also was very knowledgeable about my Dad’s further management, and she even call us in the evening concerning my Dad’s health (my Dad had a high blood pressure during our visit to Dr. Phan). We appreciate Dr. Phan’s professionalism.

Horrible office. Please do not go. I don’t want to write a whole paragraph explaining why because all the rest of the people covered it. Basically, My mom likes her because she easily gives out referrals and rx’s but as a younger patient, I can’t deal with her office. It takes forever, she doesn’t really acknowledge your existence. I asked her one time why I had a rash on my arm and she just said «I don’t know» and perscriped anti-​itch cream. A while back I had a cold and she gave me medicine for strep throat which made me end up get the flu somehow and I ended up in the ER. They said she shouldn’t have gave me that kind of medicine when I didn’t even have the strep throat. Anyway. horrible place. Don’t recommend it at all.

this was by far the most horrible experience I’ve ever had visiting a new doctor or anytime after. I had a scheduled appointment at a certain time upon arrival I had to wait another 2 hours I was called into a room sat in there for another 30 minutes then the doctor came in didn’t even acknowledge me or say hello she just left her prescription pad on the tablethen proceeded to leave the room for another 15 minutes when she came in I was telling her my symptoms I had a really bad flu so she wroteme a prescription for something I had already taken did not work when I told her I already had taken that same 17 days earlier and it didn’t work she rolled her eyes at me and told me to take it again at that time I had asthma in a horrible cough as well so I suggested maybe she write me something that I had taken in the past cough syrup and an inhaler for the asthma she would not right either. I proceeded to ask her if she would write me my medication for my back pain since I have degenerative discs again she rolled her eyes and said I am not that kind of doctor? what ended up happening was I lost my job because I was out sick with the flu for 2 months I had to call her at home emergency and tell her please I’m so sick and pretty much back this woman to write me cough syrup and inhaler and the proper medication. who is the doctor here why should I have to tell her what I need and what works and why shouldn’t be such a problem to get the proper medication I felt like I was in India and this woman treated me like I was some kind of contact I’ve never felt so disrespected and felt where someone locked compassion empathy and just the proper knowledge of a doctor she refused to send me to a specialist and I cannot believe that this woman is able to be in a doctors office and see patients it should be against the law I highly suggest anybody considering seeing this doctor find somebody else I’ve never intentionally want to hurt anyone but this doctorshould be out of business and shut down

Can I give a 0 stars? The 5 stars is a false statement. Other reviewers that gave 1 star is a much realistic answer. The staff did not give us a welcome feeling. I asked them a simple question, gave me a false answer. They talk really soft over the phone. The nurse was rude, was not friendly, always in a hurry, got irritated and raised her voice just bc I had these symptoms, and couldn’t answer basic questions. The Dr was rude (carrie and dalinda said it all). The average wait to see a nurse is 2.5 hrs. To see the Dr is about 30 minute. So, it is total of 3 hrs. Oh yea, you only see and talk to the Dr for total of 5 minutes. While waiting, all the patients were talking bad about the whole experience. One patient made a huge complaint, but the staff didn’t care. The environment is not friendly. Don’t waste your time and money. Feel like I got scammed and Dr just want your money. The staff and the Dr doesn’t take the time to get to know you. No matter how often you reschedule or make an appointment, you will wait for a long long long time. If you are ready to wait for a long long long time then I suggest you bring a book or something. The TV is never on or broken. So disappointed.

This practice is a complete joke. I came in here a few years ago for a routine checkup. After waiting in a dingy shared waiting room (seriously? I thought this was Irvine!), I was ushered into a room in the back. A woman walked in and proceeded to NOT introduce herself, and started with the usual questions. Kinda rude. I asked if she was the doctor, and she said no, she was a PA. The doctor wasn’t even in the office that day! She was having someone with inferior medical training doing the heavy lifting!
You’d think that a first time patient would get to meet the physician they made an appointment with. How completely unprofessional.
Later, I looked at more reviews of this lady and apparently she has 3 offices (Garden Grove, Westminster, Irvine). After thinking about it I realized she might be TRIPLE BOOKING appointments to try and maximize her payday. WHAT A SCAM.
