Elaine Gan-Yong MD

We happened to meet Dr. Gan as she was the attending Pediatrician when our first daughter was born. We liked her from the moment we met her and she is now the Dr for both our girls. Her office is very friendly and always available for us. The walk-​in hour is very nice in case something comes up unexpectedly.

I have been wondering if I should write a review for dr Gan Yong as I want to keep her as much for my newborn as possible. But hey, without these Unilocal reviews, I wouldn’t have been able to find her. So here we go…
We chose her/​this office for our newborn (born ⁹⁄₁₇) based on Unilocal reviews and recommendation of a nurse at Hoag and my doctor. Another nurse at Hoag commented that this doctor is likeable at Hoag when we told her our choice of pediatrician. However, other doctors from the office visited my son at Hoag while he was there. So don’t be surprised if that happens. We gotta see dr Gan Yong after going home from the hospital. She herself is a laid back doctor. She will answer all your questions and doesn’t rush you. She is very kind and gentle; my son didn’t cry once when he was seen by her. Well, I also always make sure he gets hooked up with mom’s boobies before the appointment. So that might have helped too.
The assistant (I don’t remember her name yet) is super gentle and good with my son. She makes us feel at ease when we bring our kid there. It seems to get appointment easily. The wait is short if any. Overall, I feel very blessed to find this office. They are full of wonderful doctors and staff.

Our kids have seen her since we moved to OC and my kids were little. We are sad that my kids can’t see her anymore because they are adults.
She is very patient and gentle. She has a happy demeanor which puts my kids at ease. She is proactive and when we had unusual issues she would run tests to rule anything serious out.
I would recommend her to anybody. Others who I know who see her also appreciate her care.

I can not say enough about Dr. GAN-​Yong! She cares for my three children and we love her. She knows exactly how to communicate to each of my kids to be sure we have a positive office visit each time. She is patient, flexible and understanding. She is such a huge advocate for the health and well-​being of our family and truly part of it! As a Mother of three, I also appreciate the organization of Irvine Pediatrics and their staff. Never have to wait more than 2 – 3 minutes, Saturday appointments and I can even bring sick kids in daily from 8−9am with no appointment! Dr. Gan is top-​notch, 5-​stars all the way!!!

This is a follow-​up to my first review. I’ve had another child since then who is also seeing Dr. Gan. We love Dr. Gan and her assistant, Marta. The wait time, if any, is short, and the front desk staff have always been courteous.

Elaine has been seeing my infant for about 3 months now. It started with her first visit in the hospital and then two well visits at her Irvine location.
What’s great about Elaine’s location is that they have two separate suites. They have one suite for well visits and a separate suite for sick visits. This gives parents somewhat of a peace of mind knowing that their kid does not have to be amongst other sick kids for well visits.
I can agree with other parents when they say Elaine can be laid back, however I think she uses this approach to really show that there is nothing to worry about and help the parents relax a bit. However she does care and take pride in what she does. I scheduled an appointment today to take my daughter in for a sick visit, and instead of having to go in during the rainy day and flu season, Elaine called me to discuss my daughter’s issue over the phone! This saved me a trip, time, and worrisome that my daughter may catch a sickness around the other sick kids! I was thankful she took the time to call! I’ve never had any other doctor do this, so I was quite impressed.

We’ve seen Dr. Gan for our 2 kids now for years. What’s great about her is that she is practical and to the point about facts: re our kid’s health. She is always attentive and listens and responsive when you need her. She is also a very warm and caring person. We love her!!!

Dr. Gan is wonderful! She has been my son’s pediatrician since he was a newborn and I will not go to anyone else.
She is knowledgable, attentive and caring. I feel like I can talk to her, ask questions and voice my concerns about my son’s health. Being a mother herself, she understands. Over the years, almost 7 now, she has given us great care and attention at every visit. My son says she is ‘really nice’ and I agree. She genuinely cares about her patients. We moved more than 15 miles away and I still go to see Dr. Gan. We love her and would recommend her to any parent looking for a great pediatrician.

This is a review of Dr. Gan-​Yong only, not the practice itself. Dr. Gan-​Yong is nice and friendly enough with both myself and my two boys. I have been seeing her for 2 ½ years, since my first son was born.
She is a pretty laid back doctor. Nothing really seems to frazzle her and none of the things I ask her about seem to worry her. Part of it is probably due to the fact that she’s a doctor and she’s probably seen/​heard everything so it’s normal to her, but I think it’s also her personality.
She’s also the kind of doctor that doesn’t give you a ton of information. If you ask her something, she’ll answer you, but she doesn’t necessarily offer up a lot of info.
If you are a neurotic mother, which most new moms are, you will probably find her to be a bit too laid back for your taste.
But I will say that I never feel rushed with her and we don’t wait very long when we have an appointment.

Dr Gan is the best pediatrician a mom could ask for! I have been seeing her since my first son was born almost 9 years ago. She is very knowledgeable and dependable– but most of all, she always puts me at ease with all my worries when the kids are sick. She is readily available and always reachable!
