Elegant Improvement

We had our engineered hardwood floors done by Elegant Improvement a year and a half ago. We read the initial reviews before visiting Bobby and the studio. Reading through the reviews again, it looks like our experience is almost identical to Mike P’s.
In the beginning everything looked fine and beautiful. However, almost immediately after the install we noticed several areas of the flooring where the beams popped up or squeaked. We called Bobby, and the guys had to come again to rip up the floors in those areas (only) and «glue» them down. It was another week of extremely dusty and messy work. Plus, since they only glued down those specific spots, there is a significant difference in feel and look walking over them.
Fast forward the year, several more large spots of the floor boards have emerged. There are boards popping up/​down, loud squeaking, etc. that have been impossible to ignore. When we called Bobby again, over the phone, he promised to come over or have his guys come by. It has been over a month now and no follow through. When we had a flooring professional over recently for an evaluation we were told that the initial install was botched. Meaning, the guys did not properly level the sub-​floor before install. They were lazy with the demo of the original tile flooring. What a shame. If they had just done it right the first time, we would not be looking now to have to repair the damage with a credible company. Also, we think it’s pretty shady for Bobby to say he will come by and see what can be done but outright lie and not come or call to follow through. That there, proves that he/​they are not a good/​credible/​professional business.

I have done many upgrades to my condo over the past 20 years in order to keep on trend. Recently, I had hired Bobby and his exemplary crew to install new laminate and baseboards (the 10 year old laminate was outdated and wearing badly). Bobby (owner) is extremely knowledgeable, professional and was able to keep within my budget. Not only am I extremely pleased with my flooring and new baseboards, the job was done right! I have a challenging area around the stairs where the spindles meet the floor. The old laminate was placed around the curve in a «mickey mouse» fashion and was never done correctly, and has bothered me for 10 years. Bobby’s crew, (Mario and Edgar) were able to place the laminate around that tricky area PERFECTLY!!! My condo looks like new! Guess I don’t want to list it now!
Don’t hesitate with having them do any renovation– you are in great and capable hands with Elegant Improvement!

Our experience with Elegant Improvement was seamless from beginning to end.
Elegant Imrovement couldn’t have been more accommodating with us! We were very impressed with Bobby’s timely response to our request and getting back to us with a very acceptable quote. Once the project started (putting in hardwood flooring that needed to match existing hardwood flooring), Bobby and his team were fantastic. They were able to match our existing floors beautifully. The team were efficient, clean, and courteous. I look forward to the next project (tackling our bathroom) and wouldn’t consider any other business than Elegant Improvement.

I found Bobby here on Unilocal and visited his showroom in early August to see what types of floors he had to offer. He had several types of engineered hardwood floors on special and the prices were pretty good for what I could tell. I had Bobby come out and do an estimate for installing the new floor throughout our downstairs.
Bobby was able to schedule a time to visit our home for the estimate a couple days later. After getting the estimate, which was reasonably priced compared to other quotes, we finalized our decision on the wood and then scheduled the install. Bobby was very flexible with the install date.
The installers were on time and friendly and the install went mostly well, except we had requested white risers for our stairs and they had installed wood risers. This request was noted on our formal quote, but the installers were not informed of it and had to order the white paneling to finish the stairs. This was remedied without issue, but did add some time to the install.
After the install was completed, we loved our beautiful new floors and everything seemed fine. After a few days though, the floor in the kitchen was not settling well and continued popping and making significant noise whenever it was walked over. Everywhere else in the house was not making any noise. This had become a bit annoying so I contacted Bobby about the issue.
Bobby was very receptive and said he would come out and take a look. He told me he would call me back and schedule a time to visit, but the call never came. I called him the next day and finally got him to agree to come out that Saturday.
Saturday came and went, and Bobby never arrived and he never called. About a week later, I again called Bobby and got the same type of response: very friendly on the phone, but never called back and never agreed to a day or time to come out.
I have attempted to contact Bobby regarding our floor issue several times and each time he never got back to me, or he agreed to come out but never showed up. I think it is amusing that he was so quick to come out and give an estimate, and do the install, but now that he has my money, I can’t get him to even call me back.
Overall, I am very disappointed with Bobby. The issue is probably a simple fix, yet he will not come out and even take a look. If he had, I probably would have used him again for future projects. Given my experience with them after the install, I would definitely not recommend this company for any home improvement projects. I understand sometimes things go wrong, but the company should make it right after the fact.
I researched the issue that I’m having with my floor and it is likely caused by improper leveling of the sub-​floor before installing the floating hardwood. The kitchen previously had glued-​down hardwood, but the rest of the house was carpet. The glued-​down floor probably was not removed properly or completely, resulting in the clicking noise and popping we have when walking over it. As a word of warning, make sure your installer does a thorough job of removing glued-​down floors before installing floating floors over them.

This was the second estimate we got, and they came in about 40% lower than the 1^st one. We asked for hardwood floors, and when Bobby came to provide the estimate, I asked him about our outdated staircase. He gave us a great idea that I wouldn’t have thought of, and it turned out better than I expected. Our floors and staircase look great. The workers were on time, detail focused, and cleaned up after themselves. I’d recommend them 110%.

After getting three or four bids around town, Bobby came and gave us the lowest by $ 2500 difference. We got laminate flooring covering about 1000 sq ft of floor. He told us it would take three days to take out old floor and install new. It only took one day for everything. Amazing job, everything is beautiful and they cleaned up very nicely after. I will recommend them to all my friends!

We have used Elegant Improvement for a project each of the last 5 years. They have done the following: installed granite counters and travertine backsplash in the kitchen, installed marble and granite on our fireplace, installed hardwood floors in most of our home, and restained and refinished cabinetry. The workmanship has been absolutely superb, the workers are pleasant, on time, and always cleaned up after themselves. Owner Bobby has wonderful design ideas and is a joy to work with. His prices are very competitive. We’ll never hire anyone else.

My expeirence with this business was overall very good after initially having some communication issues. Once those issues were cleared up, the owner Bobby provided a promt estimate and was on time. We set up a date and his installers (3 of them) came over (on time also) and installed over 300 sq. ft. of wood flooring in less than four hours. They were clean and neat and left without a trace, just my nice new wood floor which came out beautiful.

My wife and I had water damage in our home and the carpet was ruined. We spent many hours calling many carpet places. We decided to go with Elegant Improvement based on time, professionalism and cost. Bobby the estimator was very prompt when he came to our home. He was very gracious and listened to all our needs. He came out several times to our home and gave us ample time to decide on what to do. He was very flexible with our time schedule as far as when to start the project. When the crew arrived to lay the carpet they were done in one day. The next day the crew arrived again and installed the baseboards. The carpet and baseboards were installed by excellent skilled craftsmen. The crew members were very clean, cordially and helpful. They clean up their mess before leaving, made sure everything looked good to us, and helped us return the heavy pieces of furniture to the correct place. The cost was very competitive and reasonable. On the corner of Irvine Center Drive and Sand Canyon there is a large vacant lot adjacent to Verizon Wireless. Living in the area, many residents have been wondering what might be going in there? We are kind of hoping for retail, maybe a grocery store within walking distance of the Orangetree community would be nice.

Really bad communication. Wasted my time. -
I need new granite kitchen countertops.
I visited this showroom after reading the great reviews on Unilocal.It started out great. Bobby, the owner, said he could come out and measure the next day. He came out at promised exactly as promised. He said he would have the estimate ready in a day.
Never heard from him again. He didnt email me or call me with the estimate as promised so I emailed him as a reminder. Still nothing.
Finally, I called him a week later and he acted as if he didnt even remember me or coming out to measure. He said he would call back after researching my file.
He did call back with a standard full retail price. I said great, please email me the bid. Still nothing.
How can I do business with someone who can’t follow through with such a simple task?
I can forgive once, twice, but not thrice…

Bobby (the owner) is great. Patient, friendly, honest, and gave me a better quote than anyone else. In fact, after he already gave me the estimate I realized my condo complex required underlaymment and he said he would throw that in for free.
Also, while the crew (who I also can’t say enough nice things about) was installing hardwood and new molding in almost my entire condo I realized leaving the old molding in just the bathrooms was kind of weird so I asked if they could replace those too.
I wasn’t charged anything extra for the extra work and it turned out beautiful!
I highly recommend Elegant Improvement.

This is THE place to go for the best value for your money. Bobby (owner) is friendly, honest and helps you find the right product for your needs. He was so patient with me as I came in half a dozen times and kept changing my mind about what I thought I wanted. I ended up going with his recommendation and have not regretted it for a day.
I’d also like to add that the installation staff was the best crew I have ever had in my home. They were courteous, respectful, friendly, hard-​working and above all did an exceptional job with the installation. They paid attention to the fine details, and if there was ever a doubt, they made no assumptions but asked me exactly what I wanted.
In summary, I got a stunning hardwood floor install that I stare at every day and think to myself, ‘wow, these are gorgeous.’ And I didn’t have to break the bank to get them. I will be back to Bobby and Elegant Design Flooring for everything else I need as well!

This is the amazing place that we have gotten really great prices on moulding (crown & base) from. They also have carpet there & I think like marble countertops & stuff. It’s really great quality, the people are REALLY nice, helpful & knowledgeable. They also are open on the weekends despite posted hrs. You just have to call & see when they will be in. They will also cut moulding into pieces for you if too long for your vehicle or something.

It’s amazing how our place has completely transformed! Our small condo actually looks a lot bigger and brand new! I don’t know why we didn’t do this earlier! Bobby (the owner) spent a good amount of time taking measurements of our unit, drawing out the floorplan, and gave us a quote right there on the spot. We had estimates from different flooring companies, and none were as meticulous, professional and friendly!

The installers were just as friendly and professional. The three hardworking men were extremely careful and courtesous when handling our belongings/​furniture. They moved/​disassemble/​reassembled all of the furniture, and they even remembered exactly where everything went (even the clothing in my closet!) We are so glad to have chosen Elegant Improvement — we would use them again in a heartbeat! Thank you so much for my new floors! And I love my 4″ baseboards, too!!! =)
