I thought I had found a really good small business attorney. I really liked their pitch, I liked Eric the owner he was more of a down to earth old towne orange guy vs. a newport coast type.
The end experience goes back to the old adage STEREO TYPES EXIST for a REASON= attorneys generally suck, and the whole profession has a bad rep for a REASON.
I had them help me file my trademarks. Spent a couple g’s to file. One went through, one didnt, would have had to spend more to fight it– at the time not worth it. I felt overall I got my value worth with their assistance and would probably use them for future business needs. I even recommended them to a few other women biz owners.
Fast forward 1.5 years later– its time to file an extension for use on my trademark. They sent me an email reminder. For $ 300 they could file the extension for me. I kinda scratched my head. How complicated was filing an extension??? Was it worth a $ 300 an hour attorney?
I clicked on the government link and filed my extension myself in 2 min. for FREE. All it took was some quick reading. I am not a moron– I can read something and comprehend relatively quickly even if I am not fully educated on the entire subject.
So I called them out on their $ 300 fee, and in turn received an email firing me as their client. WOW, LOL. Too smart and self sufficient? They could’ve been cool and I would’ve continued to like them and recommend them.
