Jerry’s Wood-Fired Dogs

Just hate that this location was closed! It’s makes no sense, they always got good reviews and are so, so great! It was such a shock to arrive at the locked doors in the afternoon while a man was scraping the name off the glass.

Stopped in for a quick lunch before the movies. It took nearly 25 minutes to get a burger and hot dog. It wasn’t crowded and there was no one in line. The food was good. I have eaten at other Jerry’s and overall the food is consistent between places.

Great Chicago-​style dogs with a California twist! Fries are excellent. Loved the peanuts on the table and good service. We will be back! Menu is cumbersome and intimidating, but there is something for everyone. Poopy-​seed bun was homemade and all the dogs are charred. Pickles are kosher-​style. For a guy from Chicago we found a new place for hot dogs!

I was pretty darn surprised by this place. We were here last week at a somewhat off time (like 2) and received the most wonderful customer service. We had 4 kids with us and the employees went out of their way to help us making the whole meal great from start to finish.
It was definitely the bright part of a rainy day… and let’s be honest, who doesn’t like tater tots!

I just love this place. Hot dogs are so tasty. I like their chips and deep sauces as well. The staffs are every nice too.

We come to this establishment with 20 – 30 of our patrons with special needs. Jerrys Dogs is very accommodating to our group and the owner, Jerry, is extremely nice and generous. When we have an event nearby we make Jerrys Dogs our place to visit! The hotdogs are delicious and you can pretty much build your own burger. Their steak fries are the best! The staff is welcoming and willing to assist in any way that they can. The restrooms are tidy and the restaurant is spacious and clean. We give this place five stars because they are disability friendly.

I ordered a chili bowl which on the menu said it came with cheese and onions but when I received and opened it at work there was no cheese no onions but I guess it was due to the fact the two girls were flirting with one of the co workers friends/​bf. She did hug and kiss him so as an outsider the assumption was that it was her boyfriend and she probably got distracted while serving my chili.
Customer service wasn’t great I don’t care if their friends and bf were there eating and chatting but when you have customers waiting for their food and you are two busy talking to your friends that’s rude especially when you can’t get a simple order correct. It was an okay experience wouldn’t go back.

Jerry has delicious dogs, particular favorites are the California and Ruminski.
They offer free peanuts to snack on like a bar would.
The only reason this is a three star review is the price. For $ 7.50 (tax included), all you get is an average sized hotdog. As good as it may be, it’s nothing filling and getting a side of fries and a drink costs you an additional $ 4.25…at these prices I could get a huge sandwich with sides at Lucille’s.

Sunday afternoon visit, approximately 2:30, we had to look for a clean table.
I felt the Menu board Combo offer was deceptive. It says, ‘… save $$$‘
The combo offer of chips, fries or salad and a drink is $ 4.25
That is PLUS the $ 4 – 8.00 dog/​burger.
In actuality, you save 30 Cents.
The skin on fries were nicely spiced; the tater tots were bland but both were a generous portion. The hot dogs were normal size. We had a pastrami dog and a spiral cut dog.
Bottom line
In my own humble opinion: Pricey
2 hot dogs, 2 fries, 2 sodas $ 20.00
At least we can say we tried it, Once.

Eating at this place took me back to my high school days. Aaaahhh… Love the pink slime hot dogs.
We got specialty dogs: turkey dog & Big dog
They both tasted the exact same except the beef one had a slight beefy taste. Toppings were nice, I piled that crap on high. Normal grilled onions, fresh onions, green relish, etc w Dijon mustard on mine. Also got tots and they were the normal good, super crispy ones that u can Not possibly f-​up. (Unlike the dogs). It came w 1 free sauce, ooooOOooO, chipotle aioli. Meh, tasted normal.
Anyway, it was good to try once but never again.

Just finished the Texas dog with chili cheese onions bacon and Fritos! Sounds delicious right? Well, meh. Dog was burnt and warm. Chili seemed chalky, or maybe it was the cheese and there was too much bread…
The tots were delicious and the staff was efficient and courteous but not sure I will visit again.

As a poor college student, I survived on Top Ramen and hot dogs (or «schlongwurst» as my sophomoric roommate called them). By the time I graduated and got a decent job I was so sick of eating both of those things — I swore I’d never eat them again. Time wore on and although I’ve never touched Top Ramen again, I do enjoy a well cooked dog now and then.
I stopped at Jerry’s and ordered two hot dogs: a pastrami dog and a BLTA dog. The pastrami dog is pretty self explanatory — a dog with pastrami and mustard. The BLTA is also rather obvious: a dog with bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado.
The very congenial fellow at the register handed me a pager. I took a seat inside; there is lots of indoor seating and even more tables outside (a shared patio with other eateries in the complex). 10 minutes later my dogs were ready (I was a bit surprised it took that long but I guess they cook to order… but still…).
It was quickly apparent that it wouldn’t be easy to eat these. The toppings are placed in ways to make it virtually impossible to just pick up and eat. I had to use a fork to push and mush things around to fit inside the bun — there was no way I was going to «fork and knife» a hot dog!
The dogs themselves were very good, made more flavorful by the wood-​fire cooking. The buns were soft but sturdy. The BLTA had plenty of fresh LTA but minimal B. The pastrami didn’t look anything like the online photo which shows pastrami stacked high on top. Three small pieces of pastrami which they grilled to almost crunchy status were placed on top of the dog. It was difficult to bite through so I just took the pieces off and ate them separately. Very disappointing.
I did enjoy the hot dogs but for the price I would consider my other options unless I was really craving a wiener. 2.5 stars.

I love hot dogs. This place is really good. They have a dozen different types of hot dog and sausage sandwiches as well as hamburgers. The LA dog and the Dog Father are my favorite. The BBQ bacon cheeseburger is da bomb! The skin on French fries are better than other burger or hot dog joints. Any place that has snacks already on the table is #1 in my book.

We just moved into the apartments across the street and my husband and I decided to walk to check out the eateries nearby. The leaves in my salad were going bad. The mac and cheese was gross. The hot dog was ok but I ate it bc I was starving. I got the BLTAA with preztel bun and spicy chicken sausage. My husband got the blue cheese burger. I didn’t even finish my food which I virtually never do bc I hate wasting food. I will not be back. Very disappointed.

I had the strangest craving for a hot dog the other night so I decided to stop by since I’ve never been. It was rather dead for a Monday night, only another table in the restaurant.
Upon perusing the menu the LA dog immediately caught my eye. I have a thing for LA street dogs, in fact I will go out of my way every time I’m out there to grab one. If you’ve never had an LA dog it’s basically a bacon wrapped hot dog covered in mayo, ketchup and mustard, topped with peppers and onions. So simple yet so good. I was so excited to see it replicated here that I immediately ordered one.
It fell so short. The bun was so depressing, it was stale and worst of all wasn’t grilled. The bacon was barely detected and the dog had no flavor whatsoever. Even the strange tapatio sauce on top couldn’t redeem this dog. Sadly the best part of my meal was the side salad. Oh well.

The restaurant is super clean inside, and there’s outside seating, I believe. I’ve been getting hot dog cravings recently, and we decided to give this place a shot. I had their V-​cut hot dog, since they claim that the said cut makes it leaner, but it was still very greasy for my taste and I don’t appreciate the non-​standard hot dog bun.
My friend got a California dog, and seemed to love it, however :)

When I’m craving a hot dog first thing that comes to mind is Jerry’s Dog. They have several choices but for me I usually just get The Original combo with tater tots! I load the hotdog up with grilled onions, relish and ketchup. Yummy!!! Tater tots are legit but they also have fries and the potato chips which I usually get medium well. I don’t like them too crispy.
Another good one is the Texas Dog — Fritos, bacon, cheddar cheese, chili and onions!
They have burgers as well but we haven’t tried anything other than what they are known for… Hot dogs duh!
This location is near the movie theater so it’s pretty convenient to get a quick bite and head right across the way to the movies.

Co-​workers come here for lunch. I can see why they make the trek.
I don’t dig dogs in general but I dig Jerry’s Dogs!
The menu is so large, I needed to stand back. The cashier was helpful and friendly! That’s always good for digestion.
One person in our lil group didn’t want a dog… Lucky him! They also have burgers! Woop!
I got a plain ol’ naked dog. It was delish. Someone in our party got a Hottie Dog which looked very tasty. He enjoyed it. Burger boy was very happy too.
We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. I’m actually a little regretful that I haven’t stopped in earlier. I just thought they were regular old hotdogs that you can get anywhere. Nope! Lots of toppings and different dog types make this place unique and worth visiting.

I have been wanting to try this place for a while, but as my husband is not a hot dog fan, it was sort of on the back burner of places to visit. One lucky day there was a Groupon and I insisted. He caved in.
Luckily to his surprise, there were chicken sausages and such as well. He went with the baja chicken sausage (which had peppers and such blended in), as well as a side bowl of chili. He loved both and said that they were both delicious. Yay! We can go back more often! They also have burgers here if you do insist.
The menu consists of popular made up dogs, sausages, or you can build your own with any style and add any toppings that you desire.
I had my heart set on trying the onion crunch dog (which is funny considering I don’t like onions). But, I am weird and don’t mind onion rings or fried onion strings. This dog consisted of fried onion strings, cheese, bbq sauce, and bacon. However, once again like other places that I have visited lately, the online menu and the in person menu are very different. This can become frustrating to try to get an idea of what I want to have to switch it. It did not exist. Luckily I am not picky and can find other choices. I think I can custom make this one but I didn’t see the fried onion strings as an option, but they do offer it on the side with jalapenos which my husband would eat. I could even make the dog without the strings and add the stuff that I love even more. Ah well. I guess I will give it a shot next time!
I decided to go with the mac n cheese dog. I got it spiral style which cuts a good portion of the fat out. It came with mac n cheese, croutons, and I believe cilantro and tomato. There was supposed to be bacon as well but I suppose that was MIA, because it was not there. I also ordered a side of homemade potato chips but that ended up not getting added to the bill. I noticed when I sat down and had to go back and make another transaction.
My husband had added peppers, onions, and pico to his chicken sausage but came to find out when we grabbed the completed food that they no longer had pico. I’m not sure if they meant that day, or ever. It would have been nice to know ahead of time. Luckily, he loved his meal anyways so we will be going back.
Per a tip from Unilocal I got a side of chipotle mayo to dip my chips in. Odd you say? Yeah probably, but it tasted good.
Despite these issues of missing items and purchases, I enjoyed my meal very much and the service here was very friendly. So, for the overall good experience, I still give this place a good rating and will definitely return.

We recently purchased a Groupon for this place and decided to try it out on the way home from work for a early dinner. Low and behold our trip coincidentally fell within the Happy Dog Hour special (Tues-​Fri 3pm-​6pm) which was a nice surprise.
This was our first ever visit to Jerry’s so neither of us had any idea of what we were coming into but both of were fans by the end of the meal. I was a bit confused on the sausage descriptions as to whether the ingredients listed were toppings or cooked within the sausage but the worker quickly answered my question prior to ordering. I opted to go with the Baja Chicken Sausage (smoked in tequila lime with jalapenos, onion and bell pepper mixed in) and it was absolutely delicious. The sausage itself was bursting in flavor and gave off a touch of heat and my toppings of grilled onions, grilled peppers jalapeño ranch really gave it that extra kick of flavor. I originally had also asked for pico de gallo as well but was later informed that they no longer carried this as a topping. Even without the salsa this truly was one of the best sausages I have ever had.
My wife went into the visit with her heart set on trying the Onion Crunch Dog which she read about on the online menu but upon arriving this was no longer on the menu. It seems that the menu has changed in several areas from the Jerry’s Favorites to the selection of toppings but the online menu has not been updated which is not good. She opted to go with a different selection rather than trying to recreate the missing option and seemed to enjoy what she had.
I also decided to try the chili as a side and this too was flavorful and really topped off the meal nicely. The chili was topped with cheese and diced onions and I would definitely order this again as well.
Overall a great first impression. Delicious, food, helpful and courteous staff, clean restaurant and decent pricing. Try it out.
