Established in 1990.

Nargis, the Master Tailor has been sewing since childood. She specializes in all types of tailoring and alterations. She is an amazing custom tailor and fabricator. Aside from tailoring clothing, she has created amazing custom curtains, bed sets, baby crib sets, and custom bassinets. Very recently she created a set of 20′ and 30′ high custom curtains for Dave & Busters in the Irvine Spectrum Shopping Center.

Her skills and quality worksmanship are unsurpassed and hard to come by these days.

Nargis was introduced to the art of sewing at a very early age. She is now one of the leading Tailor’s in Orange County. She has designed costumes and dresses for famous Opera’s and Play’s. Also, recently she created amazing 20′ and 30′ curtains featured in the Dave & Busters in the Irvine Spectrum.

We brought in a very expensive comforter that we wanted cut down from king-​size to full-​size. Since the comforter was delicate raw silk with a rolled piping all around, we knew it would be difficult to recreate the look when it was cut down. The owner, sorry, forgot her name, took pains to make the comforter edging look as much like the original — we are very happy with the finished product. We will be returning to Le Papillon for future alterations.

I brought in a cocktail dress to be altered for a holiday party. The day of party, I was planning on picking up the dress after work; however, I had to work late so my husband went to pick the dress up. Her website says she closes at six, so I figured he had enough time. However, around 5:30, half an hour before the website says she closes, my husband called me to tell me the place was closed. When I picked up the dress the next day, she said she closes early when no one is there or if it’s cold and dark outside. That’s great, but then the website should say «hours approximate» or «hours dependent on personal whim» or «call ahead». She is friendly enough and the work she did on my dress looks fine, but I’ll not be going back. There are other places to go so I see no reason to patronize a business that may or may not actually be open during their posted hours.

This place saved me! I called not even a week before a wedding I was invited to and the dress I bought needed some tailoring. With almost no time she was able to get my dress ready the day before the party and it was perfect, great quality of work.

Really happy with the service i got. I had a broken zipper that needed repair. It was fixed with something even sturdier and was ready for pick on the time/​day promised. Well definitely being going back for any future alterations.

I’m happy I found this place! Over the years, I’ve invested in expensive shirts that I plan on keeping for years. I’ve lost weight over the last year and the shirts are beginning to look like moomoo’s. I’ve read and heard mixed things about tailors, but I figured I’d do a trial run on a few things.
I chose this place due to its location near Irvine Valley College and the Tustin Marketplace. It is tucked away in a plaza in the back near a courtyard/​pond. I brought in two wool shirts and three pair of trousers to have the body and sleeves taken in on the shirts and the waists taken in on the trousers. I was in no rush to have this all accomplished. Two weeks later, I picked everything up.
She did an excellent job on everything. No weird fit or stitch jobs on anything! It fits exactly the way I wanted! Prices are in line with the area, but are indeed well worth it!

I’ve been to Nargis twice now for two very different jobs. The first was pretty delicate: I had purchased a Sue Wong dress at Macy’s for about 60% off – almost totally due to some destroyed beading around the zipper. I did some research to find a good tailor in the area and chose Nargis, because I wanted someone who specialized in women’s clothing and was a dressmaker as well. Anyway, Nargis fixed all of the beading on my dress (a daunting job) and hemmed it for me. She got the job done in under two weeks, and total cost was about $ 75. For Orange County prices, plus all that intense bead work, I thought $ 75 was fair. I’ve now worn the dress two times – once to a gala and another to a black tie wedding. Beads are still in tact.
The second time I took a chiffon bridesmaid dress to be hemmed and taken in around the bust. Again, finished in under two weeks, strong work, dress fit perfectly, and reasonable pricing. I plan to continue using Nargis for all my tailoring needs. I figure this: If she can repair damage to the beading of a Sue Wong dress so convincingly you can’t even tell it was ever damaged in the first place, then she can do anything.

I’m SO HAPPY that I have found this lady, again! I had been a long time client (over 5 years) and didn’t even know that she had moved to her new location at the Arbor (on Jeffrey and Walnut in Irvine) almost a year ago. I moved out of the country for two years, so when I went back to her old location, I saw that she was no longer there and assumed that she had retired. So, I went on Unilocal to find someone close by and came across this alterations place behind my favorite Japanese restaurant, Taiko. When I went in to the store, I was ECSTATIC to find that it was her store!!! What an awesome coincidence!!! That totally made my day … Thank you, Unilocal!!!
Anyway, this lady is hands-​down the best alterationist in town! She’s so experienced that her work is impeccable. I trust her with all of my clothes. She is also very nice and very attentive to detail. I am very picky, but she always exceeds my expectations. On top of all that, she is very reasonably priced. She does excellent work and delivers on time. I love the look of her new store, too. It’s so clean and bright. I can also walk down a few stores and get a boba drink at Lollicup on my way home! Love her new location …
If you are looking for someone to alter your clothes and knows what they are doing, charges a very fair price, and provides great service, this is the place to be! Five stars all the way around!

Nargis is the owner and the alterationist. She is excellent at what she does and I have been a repeat customer for over 3 years. She takes the time to see how the clothing fits on you and makes suggestions as to what will make you look good.
Most recently, I had maternity pants that I spent a ton of money on at Pea in the Pod (first pregnancy, didn’t know it was THE most expensive place to by clothing) and they were awful. They didn’t have the wide elastic that goes over your belly so while at work, they would slide down and I was constantly hitching them up. Nargis saw the issue and sewed in a wide cotton elastic panel using my well fitting maternity pants as a guide. She completed her work in a couple days as I told her I needed them for the work week. They fit great and I feel good wearing them. I would highly recommend her to my friends and family.

After my local tailor did a terrible job on some formal clothes I use for work, I was recommended to visit by a friend who has been going here for years. I brought a bunch of pants, dress shirts, work slacks, suit jacket, etc. and every single one came out perfect! Fairly priced and super nice service, I can’t recommend her enough. I will go back again as soon as I need more alterations.

I’m shocked to see how many people have posted bad reviews. Nargis has been my tailor over the past 10 years, and during that span of time she has sewn me over 8 evening dresses, altered my dad’s pants, and suit jackets, as well as my sister’s brand name jeans, and each and every time, she has been so beyond accommodating!
I live in Los Angeles and make the drive to Irvine, every few weeks with a huge bag of all my clothes and jeans that need work done. .I have a big family, and attend alot of weddings so I get my evening gowns tailor made by her. Not only does she make sure the gowns fit my body like a glove, but the fine hand sewn detail on the dresses are always exquisite!
(I take her all types of sequenced & beaded fabric to sew on the dresses)
As far as her rates go, her prices are very affordable in comparison to other tailors in BOTH Los Angeles area, and Orange county. Ive shopped around and tried to find a local tailor, but no one was able to service me the way Nargis has over the years.
You get what you pay for!

CALL FIRST! I’ve wasted 2 trips there during normal business hours and the tailor, who was supposed to be in, wasn’t. The clock is ticking on getting a dress altered for a wedding so if there are any tailors in Irvine who work normal hours let me know. So frustrating!

I had a bridesmaid dress hemmed and taken in and was very disappointed. When I tried it on at the shop I thought everything looked fine and fit ok (part of it might be the undergarments I was wearing), but when I put my dress back on for the wedding I noticed the poor quality tailoring. The hem had raw edges, was not straight and the extra thread was not clipped. The bust/​waist was taken in at the sides but was unbalanced. They put darts in the bust that altered the look of the draping across the dress and made the bust fit weird. My dress is ruined, but at least it was only a bridesmaid dress I will wear once.

I never rated a Tailoring business before as this is the first time getting something lengthen. I came here because of the convenient location.
About the customer service, the lady who took my pants was nice and friendly, however I had an impression that she could have done her job better. When I came back home I discovered that some of the altered elements were ripped so the threads were coming off… because I had no time to come back there so I had to fix it by myself…
Next time I think I’m going to try a new tailor.

Le Papillon Tailoring let out a bridesmaid dress for us. We discovered the dress was too small just days before the wedding, but the tailor was able to rush the job, and have it ready a day ahead of time, even. Also, her stitiching was flawless; her work was done so gently, you couldn’t detect where the old stitching had been removed. Can’t ask for more — the work was done on time, staff was friendly, and the price ended up being exactly what we were quoted. A little high, but it was last minute, and a complicated dress to let out.

well well well… She is very nice and friendly BUT
I took a pants and a dress there for a quick fix and it took her 2 months to do the job, while she told me max 2 weeks. I followed up 2 times and was feeling not comfortable to call again, because she was telling me she is gonna call me in 2 days but she wouldn’t …
She did an OK job and nothing impressive. and the price a little too high for the job and the time.

Service was friendly and fast. The tailor seemed knowledgeable with menswear and did a great job. Prices were a little higher than expected, but I have no complaints about the work done. I would definitely return here for the quick turnaround and pleasant customer service.

For some reason, the more I take my clothes here, the less happy I am with the work and the prices. That obviously can’t be a good thing when we’re talking about a tailor. She does a good job, just not a great one and it’s extremely expensive. I had an original hem done here and wasn’t extremely satisfied with it. I’ve also had some straps taken up on dresses and some other waistband issues taken care of and I’m never blown away with the work. I think I’m going to try a new tailor before going back here.
