Malang Termite and Pest Control

I signed a contract with Malang a year ago to prevent ant invasions, but it did not work. I was very disappointed to see ant trails throughout my house every month since receiving treatments from Malang.
Bottom line: Malang just does not work.

Terrible service. Unfriendly people.

Jeff was good 3 years ago when he came knocking on my brand new house. Now, I can’t even talk to this guy when I call his cell number. I left several messages to tell him about rat problems that I was having in my backyard. I cancelled his service, then he called me back. What a customer service… Jeff, you should take care of your customers like you did 3 years ago, then you won’t lose any more customers.

I recently moved to a new area and was taken over by ants. After calling a few different places and couldn’t get anyone out til the following week I was recommended to Malang and cross my fingers. I called and by the luck of god he was close by and came over that day! No more ants or spiders or mice! Anytime I’ve called for an extra pop by service they came with a smile and at no charge. Thanks guys for your awesome service and promptness. Will tell my new neighbors for sure.

I’ve been a customer since we moved into our neighborhood last year. When we first moved in, ants were somewhat of an issue. We have the quarterly service and we have seen only minimal ants and spiders around the house since using malang, mostly an occasional spider. Ultimately, results are important and malang has provided them.
I havent had the service problems that i am reading about here with fellow Unilocalers, they have always shown up, offer to spray off cycle (i havent needed to take advantage of this), and even moved small things near the house (like sandals or welcome mats) in order to spray. I lock my yard gate on most days so knowing which days they come by is important so i can unlock ahead of time, havent had an issue yet.
As long as malang continues to stick to the schedule they provide on the online account (which is actually kinda handy), are friendly enough when they come by, and ultimately provide results, i will continue to be a customer.
When the results are perfect I will give the last star. It is harder to prove the absence of something than it is to prove the existence so i will caveat this with the fact that i am not sure i would be able to give any service 5 stars, but i sure hope malang tries for it.

It’s my opinion that Malang is a poorly run business. Jeff makes an effort to be a nice guy, but that evaporates when you push back about the bad service. In my experience, if you disagree with him, it’s your fault.
Recently, we gave Malang a second chance after stopping service. We did this because we thought Jeff had taken care of the administrative problems he was having for well over a year. That much appears to be true. However, in the last month we have seen way more roaches than we have seen since service began over four years ago! And nothing on our end has changed: We’re not messy people, clean regularly, and have all the same neighbors.
So, today I called and talked to Jeff about the 14^th (!) roach we’ve seen in ONE MONTH! The conversation was fine to start, but then he asked for a SECOND time if we could change our first Unilocal review. I told him I’d be happy to, but I wanted to see our recent upsurge in pests get dealt with first. Here’s where things went sour. Jeff proceeded to say I was playing a game with him, withholding the editing of the previous negative review. That didn’t sit well with me at all.
I have NO problem changing the previous review… IF THE SERVICE HAD BEEN FIXED! BUT IT WAS NOT! I told him it was ridiculous for him to ask for that before his company had proven the service was improved. It was at that time that he said «the relationship isn’t working out» and he hung up. What?! If you’re running a business, maybe you shouldn’t have continual scheduling/​billing problems, declining service, defensiveness when these things are criticized, demand that your customers change their reviews, and then accuse them of playing games. I’d start there before refusing service and hanging up on your customer of four years.
Be wary of the «nice guy» persona.

We’ve used them for several years, through multiple owner changes and promises of improvement. They aren’t delivering. After countless billing and scheduling issues, we are dropping them. Jeff is a nice enough guy but they can’t get their act together. I’m done!

My original post was that Malang must not be in business. (See Below) That is not the case
Jeff the owner contacted me and was very sorry that he missed the appointment and I rechecked his phone and it does work.
Jeff of Malang has been doing a great job on one of my investment properties and I am glad that we resolved the mistakes. My apology to Malang Pest Control and Jeff.

I do not write many non-​food related reviews so you know I mean business when I do.
We have been customers for nearly two years — since we first moved into our brand new home in a brand new community. We liked the owner who came knocking door to door to show us a list of our neighbors’ names who have signed up to use their pest control service (unbeknownst to us, there were ant problems in our newly constructed community) — not sure about privacy issues re name dropping, but whatever, that is a different discussion.
Long story short, we liked him, and he personally serviced our home and was quite courteous. Then, his business grew and employees came to service our home and overall service level went down.
Please allow me to share something that really bothered me and is a primary reason why I cancelled my regular service with their company (and my neighbors are also planning to do the same if have not already done so).
For the last two scheduled services I had, I was very dissatisfied. I came home from work and found an invoice /​service summary left at the door. I am used to that and appreciated seeing the «bug people» come to «do their thing». However, two days after the supposed service took place, my husband found ants all over the outside of our side yard (this is the wall outside of our kitchen sink). He was very upset and asked me to call and have the «bug people» come back. I called a few times, each time picked up by the answering machine. I was tired of waiting for them to pick up the phone, and gave up.
Then, the next time they came for our scheduled service a few months later, I happened to be home that day. I was organizing a few things upstairs, and saw someone walking around the front of the house. I didn’t think anything of it. Then, minutes later, a knock came at the door. I opened the door and someone other than the owner handed me an invoice /​service summary and left. He did not say anything to me, did not greet me, did not tell me what he did or ask me any questions, literally, just handed me a piece of paper, turned around and left. Puzzled, I took the paper, closed the door behind me and went inside.
When I finally read the paper carefully, it read, «gate locked, could not service». I was thinking to myself, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You personally handed me a piece of paper, and you couldn’t ask me to unlock the gate for you? More importantly, Our gate does not have a lock that cannot be opened! It is simply a hook that you unhook to open the gate! Anyone taller than 5 feet tall can reach the hook!
I told my neighbors the story and they also shared similar dissatisfaction. They felt bad since they were the ones who introduced «The Bug Professional» now called «Malang» to us in the first place.
I have worked for small businesses. It is great to have a good client base, but it is terrible that service levels decline when the business grows and clients begin to leave. It’s too bad.

Matt, called me the next morning to explain the mishap and even offer to credit me. He came right over and did an extensive spray. I was impressed with Matt’s professionalism.
I was also glad to hear Jeff’s business is expanding, with more technicians to fulfill the demand.

I have been using Bug Pro (I guess I do remember they were called Barrier) for about 2 years. Maybe longer. I am surprised about the negative reviews. I am not sure how anyone can tell if pesticides were sprayed or not outside. Isn’t it a clear liquid? Nevertheless, the proof is in the pudding. I almost never see any insects in or around the house. At the height of the ant season, we had some outbreaks but the orange disks Bug Pro provided are little pieces of heaven. I assure you if the bug issues were not under control, we would have moved on to some other company (as I have in the past). I do not have time or patience for insects or poor service. We have a 4000 square foot house, so it’s a big job, but I have been more than satisfied. Plus the employees have always been super friendly and helpful. A++

I’m not a Unilocaler, since I don’t have much of an interest in reviewing restaurants (which seems to be the main purpose of Unilocal). However, I’m finally writing my first Unilocal review in order to help steer consumers away from this company. Don’t you find it mildly suspicious that Bug Professional only has 5-​star reviews, followed by one (now two) one-​star reviews? Anyways… back to the reason I’m here today.
A few days ago, Bug Professional (formerly named Barrier Pest Control) stopped by my house in a corporate truck, stayed for three minutes, and dropped off a bill. Upon their departure, I checked outside to find that no insecticide had been sprayed at all. Essentially, I was charged for a nonexistent service.

I love Jeff. I requested service via the website. Jeff called me back and was able to come out that afternoon. My family and I moved into our dream home which has turned into a nightmare in that we had a plethora of ants everywhere. They even found their way upstairs where there is no food. Jeff sprayed inside and out. He explained what he was doing every step of the way;. Now I expected someone similar to «Dog the Bounty Hunter» seeing how you’ve, in my book, gotta be hardass to deal with icky things. Nope — Jeff is as sweet and clean cut as they come. He knows his bugs and knows his stuff. He even called a few hours after he left to see how we were doing. I am huge in customer service and Jeff is on par with Nordstrom. I highly recommend this company — — - and Jeff!

As a follow-​up to the comment posted by Bug Professional Pest Control:
I would like to refute the following:
Seth Kaufman let ants and spiders build up the entire summer until he couldn’t stand it and finally called in October.
I did not let bugs and spiders build up all summer. I sprayed the home myself and also had another professional do a one time service prior to the summer.
The customer wouldn’t permit spraying to be done on the inside on the first visit, so the outside was treated.
I did want the inside to be sprayed, however the Bug Professional could not meet me after 5pm after I got off work
The customer called back, the next day and requested the inside to be sprayed. A special trip was made to treat the inside within 24 hours of Seth’s call. After the treatment, I mentioned to Seth Kaufman to give the treatment 7 – 10 days to see results.
This was not a special trip as it was promised in the service that was agreed upon. The bug professional did not stat give it 7 – 10 days, he stated 2 – 3 days and I called after the weekend and had him come back the Monday or Tuesday after.
Seth called a day later and d told me there were ants everywhere in his home. I promptly drove to his home a 3^rd time and there weren’t any ants to be seen. He was mad at me because I didn’t spray his ceilings, and he pulled out a ladder and asked me move it all over his home to spray the ceilings. I told him that’s not the way it is done, and even though there wasn’t any ants, I went ahead and applied some ant bait over the cabinets.
As an exterminator, he should know that the ants would move where there wasn’t poison or bate. I explained to him how each time he sprayed they kept moving up to higher ground. I asked him to treat above the cabinets since that is where they now were. I provided him a ladder which he thanked me for and used gladly.
A couple days later, Seth called and was going crazy saying there were spiders. He started cursing me on the phone because I wasn’t able to come out the next day. At this point, I simply told Seth that I could see it wasn’t possible to keep him satisfied. I can celled his service without a cancellation fee and wished him success for his pest control needs.
I was not going crazy. I called on a Monday he said he would come out. I did not hear from him all week. He called the following Monday saying he would be out by the end of the day. It is a flat out lie that I was cursing. I was very stern in what I was saying only after he kept cutting me off. I was asking questions as I am not knowledgeable about exterminator services. He raised his voice and got very indignant and then canceled my services.
After I posted this initial review he emailed me begging me to take down the post and asked what he could to make me happy. At which time I told him never to contact me again and to please leave me alone as he was the one who canceled my service.

Bugs are not my business. That is why I hire the Bug Professionals. They really are a great company, that prides itself on bug elimination. They are the best in the bug trade, as far as I can gather. They really go above and beyond the call of bug duty, and for a lady who doesn’t care to exterminate her own bugs, these guys are ready and willing.
They are kinda like bug superheroes for the prissy gal within us all.

I have used bug professional for about 6 months now, since March 2011. Every time they have serviced my home, they have been courteous, professional, and have addressed any problems I have had.
i called in between my scheduled treatment about a month ago. Jeff, the owner came to my home the next day. He went above and beyond mu expectations… he treated the perimeter of my home, inside my garage, and treated inside my home as well. I was very impressed with his professionalism and made sure I was satisfied with the work done.
Not only is bug professional by far the best service I have had, they are the the most inexpensive as well.

So, we started seeing more ants after the initial service. Jeff had warned me they may come back but to call him if I started seeing them. I called and Jeff came out the next day to take care of the issue. He was in and out in like ten minutes.
I was really appreciative of the quick service and the amazing service they provided. I am now going to be recommending this company to all my friends and family.
It is hard to find good companies that are out for more than just taking your money. Jeff works hard, in my opinion, to build his relationships with his customers and I really like that.

Although I don’t typically provide reviews for non-​food venues, I felt compelled to send a quick note about Bug Professionals.
In ALL of my experiences with them, the team has been very attentive to my needs and has gone above and beyond to make sure that all is well… best of all, they are probably the most inexpensive out of the bunch. I highly recommend. We’ve used them for about 6 months. They come out regularly, but in addition to that, if you see anything in between the scheduled treatment dates, they will come out at no extra charge.
