Mitchell was very helpful the entire time, he kept in touch diligently and lead me through the process. He was very pleasant and helpful and I always understood what was going on because of him. If you think your computer is done and you lost everything, SDRS can get that data back, because that is the situation I was in!

I initially called them and gave them my contact number and email. Mistake number 1. They were incessant in their calls about when I’d be bringing the drive in. About 2 weeks later I brought the drive in and no one came out to meet me. They rent space in an office building in Irvine. The condescending wench at reception took my drives and when I asked she said they do not validate. She was also rude about this when I asked her, stating «Well you’re not a customer yet» or something to that effect. I just remember it being really rude. During my initial conversation with Rob Anderson I asked him if the repairs were done on site or did they ship the drives elsewhere to be worked on. He assured me that it was on site. This concerned me because I didn’t want my drives shipped. If they were lost in transit I would be screwed. They email you a work order which you have to approve and send back. I did this once I received it. A week later, nothing. No contact at all. I email asking what the status is on my drives and Rob says I didn’t sign the work orders. He sends them again and I approve them and return. I have my quotes a few hours later. So I go to pick up my drives because I need 2 quotes for them and when I arrive there’s no one in the office, again. I call and get Rob on the phone and he evidently isn’t in that office. He’s in LA. As are my drives. Tthey shipped them to L.A. which I was specific about in our initial conversation. He says that he can ship them back to me but it’s going to be $ 24.99 each drive to ship back. There are 5 drives. I ask him if someone can take the drives back to the Irvine office and I’ll get them from there. He says it can’t be done. So now I’m thinking «What a jackass». I make a special trip to their office in LA on Melrose to pick up my drives. The office isn’t impressive and the guy at the front totally not friendly. I would not recommend these guys to anyone. It’s been a few months so I’m sure I’ve forgotten some of the things that pissed me off about this place, but you get a general idea of my experience. I ended up using Data Recovery Man for the important one of my drives. He was cheaper by about %20 and professional. Took time to talk with me on the phone and to actually meet me when I dropped the drives off. It was still expensive but at least he knows his stuff and is professional. Because they wasted so much of my time, Secure Data can pound sand as far as I’m concerned.

Really good experience! Had to collect data off a failed external hard drive, and they were able to collect it all for a competitive price and in a timely manner. The only reason for four stars instead of five is that they tended to push to meet their timelines instead of working to meet their customers’ (we were traveling for work at the time), but the end definitely justified the means. I would recommend!

Very professional from first contact to completion of data recovery. Jeremy Provchy was our representative. Excellent communication and follow through. Data was delivered quicker than we expected. We were lucky and they were able to recover all of the data from our failed HDD. Although I hope not to need their services again in the future, I would happily return if the need arises.

So very happy! Massive number of photos and videos on two different hard drives, not to mention countless other files, we thought were lost forever are now returned back to us! This has been an emotional time for us since many of the cherished pictures and video files were of an extremely close family member we lost a few years ago. I am so glad I didn’t throw the hard drives away. I had previously sent them to another recovery company and they were sent back informing us the data was unrecoverable! We were crushed. Having to go through two major DR events in less than 45 days isn’t anything I’d wish on my worst enemy. I can almost claim to be an expert now on how the process goes, but it’s painful no matter how you get to that situation.
Our first experience with another recovery service was extremely frustrating and we felt the communication was lacking. When the second event occurred, we sought another service that was local and was basically the first to answer at 2am. We paid for an expedited recovery assessment, and within several hours received a quote for $ 20K!
There was no way in hell that would happen, so I found and reached out to Secure Data Recovery Services. I initially spoke with Eric and explained our situation, and since we had just paid for an emergency assessment with another company he offered to do the same for no charge. They took a look at the other company’s assessment report and found it lacking any useful information, so at the end of the say SDRS provided a detailed report with a positive outlook for a successful recovery.
Mitchell was assigned as our account rep and he provided detailed updates throughout the process. Having an iSCI RAID 5 NAS crash with two failing drives is an extremely challenging and time consuming process (as I’ve learned), but Mitchell provided me with regular updates. Since the execs also wanted me to check in every 2 hours practically on the status, he was kind of enough to take every call and give the current status even if there was no change… even when requested at 5:30am!
The first round of recovery produced mixed results based on the original configuration of our virtual volume images, so they offered a second round to re-​scan and confirm a successful recovery. The second attempt did produce a 100% successful recovery, so it thankfully concluded on a happy note… as happy as one can be given the circumstances.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, the experience will be stressful and not cheap at all. But if you have no other alternative and absolutely need your critical data recovered, I found Secure Data Recovery to be a qualified recovery service with helpful staff, and the cost was actually lower than most competitors.

My sales rep for this company was Chris McMacken. I called in reference to backing up my my son’s hard drive. He answered the phone and followed up with an email. I was assigned a case number and was able to log online to a very easy to use Customer Care Service Center page. You can use this page to make payments and view the work that is being done. I was «very» impressed with the professional customer service and quick return of emails and phone calls. No waiting a day (s) like many companies do before hearing back from them.

Not cheap, but a life saver.
They take your dead hard drive apart in a clean room, replace the damaged parts and pull the data off and put it on DVDs. It is a miracle. They keep your damaged drive to use for parts for other customers.
