Shining Stars Christian Preschool

My son has been going here for 3 years. He is now going to kindergarten, so sadly has to leave. Shining Stars is a quality daycare. The site is clean and safe. As your child grows and goes to a new class, there is consistency with the quality care provided. That is so important to me as I am always worried about a change when he starts a new class after loving the current one. The instruction prepares the children for the school years ahead while making it enjoyable. There are also events throughout the year for the children and parents. All the staff are amazing, including the Director Stacy Williams, and Assistant Director Pamela Mammen. Be rest assured that your child is safe and in good hands at Shining Stars!

The entire staff at this school is very nice, caring and courteous. I could not ask really for anything more.
My son has gone here for the last 2 years or so even during his transition to potty training. It was very hard for him to get adjusted in the beginning but he has really taken to the program and enjoys going to school now. There is a good schedule of learning activities such as letters, colors, shapes, numbers, etc in which he has learned. He also sings of songs he has learned. I am very satisfied with his development. Preschool is a great starting base, but parents should also foster the learning at home imo.
School grounds are very well maintained and clean. I always see the staff constantly cleaning and organizing. The outside play area is secure and large enough for playing for the kids. There are activities and other service offerings.
I personally like the exposure to principles such as sharing, being kind to others, etc. and discipline using the time out method.
The photos on Facebook are great as it shows all of the activities for the kids.

I was ver apprehensive about sending my baby girl to a preschool/​daycare wasn’t very keen on the idea.
Ever since she started here, her vocabulary has improved, shapes, colors. The whole deal
I have to admit I am impressed the staff all seems very caring and courteous.

We love Shining Stars! We are a Catholic family, and so we were interested in sending our 2 year old to a Christian preschool where he would be gently exposed to teaching of the Bible, and just how to be an all around good person (so if you are not Christian — do not be turned away; the kids aren’t learning about Jesus, specifically, but rather Christian teachings like being nice to one another and helping). We also loved that the school has a curriculum and so it’s not just glorified babysitting. Every week you can check the bulletin board to see what letters and numbers the kids are learning/​reviewing.
Mrs. Tina really nurtured our son who cried almost everyday for a month. We switched him from TuTh Full day to Tues — Fri half day, and those 3 hours everyday really helped him to learn to love school. There were days when I had to wait for him at the door to leave because he didn’t want to go.
Unfortunately, our son has a weak immune system and was getting sick every other week. I am a stay at home mom, and so when he’s sick he just stays home with me. Ultimately, he was only going about half the time, and so my husband and I decided to pull him out. Hopefully, we can re-​enroll him when he gets a little older and stronger.
We love Shining Stars and Mrs. Tina so much! I wish we could take Mrs. Tina home. lol!

My son went here for about a year. Overall the staff is caring but the lack of organization and communication at this school led us to leave. The focus on learning preschool skills also seemed to be lacking. As soon as I moved my son to another nearby school he totally blossomed and starting writing letters and spelling. I also was not keen that I asked about what their philosophy was and what religious content would be taught to my son and the assistant to the director did not give me a clear answer. She only stated that they believed that they taught that people should be good to others. This was not true! If a school is going to teach religious principals to my child I would like to know up front what they are going to teach. This has led to some very interesting conversations I’ve had with my son about god and he is barely 4! Overall I pulled my son out because of the high turnover of staff and lack of communication. He had 4 teachers in one year and I was not told who the next would be up to two weeks before the next term. Potty training here was a nightmare because of the lack of communication between teachers so i could not get consistency and support from the entire team. One teacher would tell me one thing and the next another. Even after talking with the director Stacy it did not improve though she promised. There seemed to be a real disconnect on my son being an individual with distinct needs. I would be very fearful if my son had allergies or something that this lack of organization and lack of communication would be detrimental. I never knew what was going on with my son either academically or personally. What a difference with his new school where they email me photos, send lesson plans before the new week, and the teachers give me constant verbal feedback on how my son is doing. At the new school he is an individual. I would not recommend this school at all and there are others nearby that are much better. It was tough for me to change schools but ultimately the best decision I made was to get him out of this one.

I absolutely LOVE this school! We started my daughter here when she was 18 months old (a little over a year ago). Mrs. Yami is the teacher for that age & I promise you will not be disappointed if your child is in her class! She goes above & beyond with everything. She truly loves the kids in her class & treats them as if they were her own. She even would text me regularly with updates & lots of pictures. When she moved up from her class, she bought my daughter gifts AND she gave me a CD with over 250 of pictures she had taken of her during her time in her class. How awesome is that?! I wish she could have stayed in her class forever, although I do really like her new teacher, too. :)

As a mom who has worked with many children, preschools, and teachers professionally, I was looking for a very specific school for my toddler. First, the staff: once I met the director, Stacy, she put me at ease right away, explaining the benefits of placing my son into school. She was very knowledgeable and personable. I can tell right away that the staff cared for the children. They all knew my son’s name within the first week, saying hi and bye and telling me how he is adjusting to school. This was not just his teachers, but other personnel on sight. The teacher Mrs. Yami, communicated with me letting me know how he is doing and adjusting. She is a wonderful teacher and am so blessed to have her care and teach my son.
Second, cleanliness/​germs. I have visited other schools and this school by far was the cleanest, safest environment around. As having a healthy kid is very important for him to continue to learn. I constantly see staff cleaning the school and it is pristine. They have protocols on how to deal with cleaning the toys, equipment, classroom, and children’s hands.
Third, environment. The teaching environment was decorated and age appropriate. My son does many projects and is constantly learning and talking. The kids are happy and follow the teachers instructions, and if not they have protocols to deal with those situations.
I have been so blessed to have found this school for my son. I highly/​strongly recommend it to any parent who is considering putting their child in school. As a stay at home mom (and a working professionally before), I was very concerned about who can trust/​watch/​teach my child. I can say that this is definitely a place that I comfortable to take care of my child. Thank you OC Shining Stars!

All 3 of my children attend Shining Stars Christian Preschool. It is an amazing place!
My oldest son had been there for over 3 years. He has been assessed and been «promoted» to higher classes as warranted. They consistently have caring, intelligent teachers who keep my kids motivated and above their «grade» level. Each class has a teacher and an assigned aid/​assistant. They also have additional aids/​helpers when the teachers need a little extra help. The ratio of kids: teacher is always below the required 12:1 ratio (often closer to 8:1 when I’ve counted).
The big kids (2 yrs-​5 yrs) have an adjacent, yet separate, playground to the little kids (18 months — 2 yrs). This way the equipment is age/​size appropriate, but siblings get to see each other. For added safety and piece of mind, the whole place is monitored by video and the front door is only accessed by a security code specific to each family.
I feel like family when we enter each day. The staff truly care for my children as if they were their own.
They even offer a hot lunch program in addition to their provided 2 snacks a day. (Such a blessing to this busy mom).
Added bonus, not only is Mommy happy with the education and environment, but my kids love it too!

I enrolled my 4 year old daughter in this school after reading good reviews on Unilocal and toured the school. I was impressed by the spacious and clean playground. But I immediately witdrawed her after two weeks of enrollment. The director was great in explaning the program and she is very energetic when we first met during the tour. She was also one of the teachers in the baby room.
I feel that the school is lack of experienced teachers and staffs. Most teacher I saw here are young girls working as a volunteer or mainly babysitter type. They only have a couple of main teachers and that was it. My daughter class size is more than 12 to 1. Due to lack of teacher, they have to combine kids from the other class into one.
I came to pick up my daughter around 4:30 pm one day and saw the chaotic scene at the hall way where they left the 2 – 3 yr old class playing because the weather was cold. But I saw the big kids are play outside in the playground. The teacher looks stress and screaming at the kids fighting for toys.
Even the main teacher in my daughter class also used a loud tone of voice to stop the chaotic in the class. I heard that one day from sitting by the hallway.
I don’t recommend going to this school. I took her to Montessori on the Lake and the result is wonderful. Every students learn their manner and there is no screaming/​yelling from the teacher, plus the tuition is bit less than Shining Stars.

My kids love this pre-​school! The children really learn great things. The teachers are spectacular! I would not even consider another place:)

I highly recommend it! We are very please with the quality of the school, the professional service from the staff and for the great teachers. Our son attended this preschool since he was 2 year old now he is 5 and moving to Kindergarten. We saw how much he has learning and enjoy it being in preschool. The school offers music class, gymnastics, bible reading, and always teaching great christian values.
Prices are very affordable compared with any other schools in the area.
The facilities are clean, big playground, cameras watching the class rooms all the time. I spend so much time doing my research before putting my kiddo in a preschool but it was worth it! We had a great experience

We are so happy with our experience at OC Shining Stars Christian Preschool. Our two year old son loves going to school and he loves his teacher! He has learned so much since he started attending preschool. The teachers are so positive and warm, and they always take time to talk to you. The director has been delightful to work with. I highly recommend this school!

My son just turned 3. He has attended this school since he was about 2 and a half. We are delighted with the teachers and staff.

This preschool is awesome. I highly recommend it to anyone looking at preschools for their young children. The director is highly informative and is a wonderful person. I immediately felt comfortable with her when I first met her. The teachers are loving, caring and truly want the best for your child. My son had a hard time with separation anxiety but the teachers always put him at ease when I left. They hugged him and stayed with him until he calmed down. That made me very happy.
The curriculum is fantastic and my son is learning his letters, colors, shapes and is enjoying himself when I drop him off in the morning. If you need a great preschool, please check out Shining Stars, you will be so happy you did!
