This review is long overdue, but well-​deserved! I had my refrigerator repaired last year and I received GREAT SERVICE! I also defrosted my own freezer, so the charge for doing this was removed. Great Customer service, follow-​up and great work!
I would recommend Sunset Refrigeration to others. All of his work is by referral; advertisement not needed :)

I usually do not use this forum for negative reviews, but this time I just HAD to.
I chose this business for all of its’ positive reviews and I took the negative ones with a grain of salt. Well, shame on me!
I called to schedule an appointment to have a malfunctioning refrigerator looked at. The next available time was two weeks from today. Karen was not able to give me a time for that day and I would be called the day before with a 2 hour window for the next days appointment. That frustrated me as my time is valuable and it’s not easy to get 2 hours off work the day before. Two weeks ahead of time was okay and much easier to get time off to be home.
She asked me what was wrong with the refrigerator and I told her that it wasn’t cooling properly and that the condenser was going on and off. She then proceeded to correct my terminology and told me that it was impossible, the the condenser is not a moving part and can’t go on and off. I thought what the heck… you’re in the customer service industry? You don’t correct the potential customer or customer, just say okay and let it go. I started to tell her that it wasn’t right to correct me from a customer service point of view, but she didn’t allow me to do that. She told me that this was obviously not going to work, find someone one else, and then she hung up on me.
Karen may have been having a bad day and I get that. Sadly, her possible bad day and inability to take a deep breath or stop herself mid-​sentance has resulted in this bad review and lost new and repeated business.
I will also be taking my complaint to U-​Line, the manufacturer of the refrigerator that needs to be repaired.
Karen, the definition of customer service is: providing ‘excellent’ customer care before, during and after the sale.

This is a wonderful company! Prompt, courteous and honest as the day is long. The president came out to my house to fix my washer! He was so knowledgeable and quick at repairing the washer. I highly recommend calling Sunset for all of your appliance and refrigeration repairs!

We remodeled our kitchen and bought all our appliances from Renwes (I absolutely recommend Burt at Renwes): Wolf range, Wolf steamer/​convection over, U-​line beverage cooler and icemaker and Bosche dishwasher. The U-​line icemaker stopped working and I called U-​line service. I spoke to Brian who recommended me to Ivan and Karen at Sunset Refrigeration. A few months ago, our U-​line beverage cooler also stopped working and I was referred to Sunset, but they were booked for 3 weeks.
I called on Monday and Ivan came out on Wednesday. He took the time to explain what was going on and ordered the replacement pump. I appreciate the fact that it’s a husband/​wife business, 25+ years of experience with U-​line and are honest. I absolutely recommend Sunset and will continue to use them for my U-​line needs.

The seals around the doors on my refrigerator had split apart. I called Sunset Refrigeration and Ivan came to my home to check the refrigerator. Ivan called the company to see if the refrigerator was still under warranty but unfortunately it wasn’t. He would have to order the parts but also told me to call the company myself to see if they might replace the parts even though the warranty had expired. We unfortunately have had problems with the Liebherr CS2062 refrigerator… plastic on the drawers cracking/​ice maker intermittently not working. I called the company and explained the problems… the person I talked to told me that basically the seals around the doors are basically made to last 2 years! I found this statement amazingly… especially after spending thousands of dollars on a refrigerator! The company ended up sending us the seals for free! The reason I brought this up is that Ivan told me to call them and tell them the ‘truth’ about my thoughts on this subject. Although they will not replace the ice makers or plastic drawers I did get them to replace the ‘seals’. Ivan returned to replace the seals and was amazed that they told me that this part is ‘made’ to last only 2 years! Would I buy another Liebherr refrigerator ??? NO NO NO… will I call Ivan? YES YES YES!!! Call Ivan for your appliance repairs!!!

I have a few problems with a new stove, the details are not important, only that it was one of those jobs where, when you start to work on it, the problems unfold, and the job get’s bigger and bigger.
Ivan, of Sunset Refrigeration came to fix it.
While here, he discovered additional problems with the stove, that if left untreated would cost serious $ and would not be covered by the warranty anymore.
Ivan was on time, clean and friendly.
His communication was perfect, informing me of each step, time frames, status updates… I never felt left alone.
All that, I would expect from a good technician and I doubt, that I would have bothered writing a review.
Here is where in my opinion Ivan went above and beyond:
He first explained to me in details what is wrong with the stove.
Next, he provided me with a list of options we have.
Finally, he gave a recommendation, based on his professional opinion.
— And here comes the big one: His recommendation is the option where he is not involved. (He recommended the option where he does not make any money!)
It is really refreshing to see, that there are honest business out there that have my interest at heart, and are not just working based on their own gains!
I will use Sunset going forward, and I will recommend them to friends and family!

I had Sunset Refrigeration come and replace my ice maker. Did a great job. Said he would come between 2:00 and 4:00, but would call me when he was on his way. I was at work about 8 miles away that was the 15 min. I needed to get home. I give them 5 Stars. They also fixed a stove for me but I got the parts. I was going to fix it my self but a little harder that I thought. The parts took for ever. I ordered my self and even paid extra to get them faster, still took 3 and a half weeks. Next time I’ll just let sunset get them. Parts company’s just don’t stock parts anymore.
Sunset your the greatest. If my wife is happy thats what counts.

This company was assigned as a part of warranty of my 6 month new Libherr refrigerator.
Person who called me was, Karen, the worst person I have ever talked over the phone. Just trying to setup an appointment, she was condescending and very rude that I have to hung up the phone. (Also I fund the other reviewer had a similar experience with her) Not sure the quality of their services, but how she represents the company, may not good for their businesses overall.

Honest. Reliable. Works hard to help the customer get satisfaction. Have used them for dishwasher and refrigerator repairs over the past few years. My recent refrigerator repair took quite some time and Sunset made several visits out. The appliance company stopped making the part (don’t blame the messenger!), but Sunset found a replacement part and worked through the problem. It’s like they take your repairs personally. I couldn’t be happier with them and highly recommend them.

I’ve had this company out to fix my oven, my fridge, and my dryer. All were fixed completely and I haven’t had a problem with any of them since. I think there was one part that took a while to come in (I have ancient appliances), but they managed to find the rare part (whereas Sears had told me they didn’t make it any more and I should just buy a new appliance), and I didn’t mind the wait at all. It’s refreshing to deal with a company that is honest and reliable. I won’t use anyone else — they’re the best!!!

We recently had our cook-​top rewired by Sunset Refrigeration. Now, let me explain that this is not just any cook-​top. Ours is a custom sized top from the 1970’s. Unfortunately for us, when ours died, we could not replace it without redoing the entire counter-​top. We contacted Sunset Refrigeration after a friend told us about them. They were very honest when they accessed the possibility of fixing ours (which was not probable).
However, just a week or so after they came out, I received a phone call that they were able to track down parts and get ours working. They completely gutted it and replaced everything, right down to the knobs on the top. These guys saved us tons of money and our cook-​top works great! I really recommend these folks. They are a small business that goes out of their way to take care of the customer!

This company was referred to my by a local San Clemente company that didn’t work on Viking refrigerators. The temperature alarm has been sounding for quite some time and the ice maker wasn’t working. The service call was a 10am-​12pm slot. They showed up at 12:30. He was pleasant, worked on the fridge, changed out the ice maker. Said it was fixed. The next day I come home to the fridge alarm sounding again. They came back out (and arrived late again), new ice maker was not making ice, could not determine the exact cause for alarm and left a thermometer for me to monitor the freezer temp over the next couple of days and they would call to come back out. That was a week ago. I finally had to call them today to have them come back out. The person on the phone was rude and started yelling when I asked for the first appointment time, because I didn’t want to waste my mornings waiting for them as they have been late. She raised her voice again and said I should talk to the owner then because she can’t make him show up on time, he’s the one who gets there when he gets there. Thats about the time I hung up. Won’t be having them back. Ever.

Ivan came to fix my washer and he did great job.
He was courtious and professional.
He explained the causes for the problem and knew what to do right a way.
He also cheked my dryer for efficiency and charge was reasonable.

After having our dishwasher repaired too many times to count by other repairman/​companies, he repaired it once and we have had no problems since. Sunset Refrigeration and Appliance Services has come through every time here. This is a company I trust and honestly prior to Sunset I dreaded calling repairmen. I never knew who would show up, if I could trust them, and if they would actually fix the problem. Sunset is easy to communicate with, trustworthy, friendly, and affordable.
The first time Sunset came out was for our old gas stove. The repairman walked in and immediately commented on the smell of gas. He went right to work and discovered the cause and fixed it right then.
Sunset has also worked on our fridge, which did require a part, but was quickly fixed.
I highly recommend this company.

I used to buy the extended contracts from Home Depot, Best Buy and Sears, etc… hoping to keep repair costs manageable. My experience was often that the number of companies they contracted with was limited — therefore the waiting time for the repair company to then contact me and the wait for their first available diagnostic visit could be ridiculously long. The other problem was that because I hadn’t hired them myself, they were sometimes quite rude or apathetic. After dealing with this time after time, I decided to find my own service company.
Sunset Refrigeration & Appliance has become my one and only repair company. Knowledgeable service, reasonably priced and HONEST business practices — experience with other companies makes the latter quality rare and valuable!
My LG Tromm dryer and washer and my KitchenAid Refrigerator have all been brought back to life by Sunset R&AS. I have recommended them to my family, my friends and I recommend them to you!

Sunset Refrigeration and Appliance Service is the most honest and reliable appliance service I have had the pleasure of doing business with! They will remain my go to repair man until they retire!

Used them to fix our Sub Zero freezer without any problems. So, when our KitchenAid dishwasher needed work we called them. They said they could fix it and just needed to order the parts. Of course they charge us $$ for the house call that would be applied to the final bill. Well, the «parts» took months to come in (with no calls for updates) and then they were the «wrong» parts. Multiple promises and excuses later we ended up calling another company. They came out and fixed it the same day. Somehow they ended up having the «back-​ordered» parts. Find it hard to believe that they couldn’t get the parts they other repair services seemed to carry in their trucks. No excuse for poor customer service and lack of communication.
