The Great Frame Up

Amazing framing shop. I bought a few prints that my office needed to frame, and these guys did an amazing job, were very helpful and delivered as they promised. Their suggestions on the frame and the glass and the map or spot on and the end product looked amazing and I’m very happy with how the prints turned out to be, they look amazing and I couldn’t be happier. So I would definitely recommend this framing shop to anybody was looking to get their artwork framed, these guys know what they doing they are true professionals. I’m definitely coming back here in the future if I have any more items that I would like to get framed.

Beware «The Great Bait and Switch.» I went in to The Great Frame Up for a price quote to frame a vintage poster I had just picked up at an antiques market. The owner asked if my poster was valuable and I told him I paid $ 40 for it. He quoted me $ 160 for a simple slim metal poster frame with basic UV glass. I didn’t have the poster with me, so I had to return. I noticed they were advertising a «$ 50 for $ 100» voucher on Unilocal,so I bought one and returned with my poster the next day. It was a different man this time, apparently the co-​owner and brother to the first guy. I had done some research and found out that my vintage poster was, in fact, potentially valuable, and I told the second guy as much. He gave me a price quote, with the exact same frame and options, of $ 240. After much back and forth, he «discovered» that his brother must have based his quote on the «poster frame» price, which did in fact come out at $ 160. I thought we were talking about a poster frame the whole time, but no matter. He said I could pick it up in two weeks. When he asked how I wanted to pay for it, I told him with a card and I had a Unilocal voucher.
Imagine my surprise when he refused to take the voucher because, he now said, I was getting a «discounted rate» on the frame. Not once had he or his brother ever said they were quoting me a discounted rate, giving me a promotional offer, or anything similar. I insisted that he honor the price quote and the voucher (which even says on its face: «For the business owner — Deal must be honored according to terms on voucher. No additional restrictions may be added at time of redemption.»). He refused. Instead, he offered to pay me $ 50 right there for the voucher. When I explained that’s not how these deals work, he took the voucher from my hands and started writing a $ 50 check. I again told him no, snatched the voucher back, and left.
If this business wants to drum up customers by selling these deal vouchers through Unilocal,they need to realize that they’re going to be bound by the terms of the vouchers that are sold and they can’t back out whenever it suits them. Stay away unless you want to experience «The Great Bait and Switch.»

The great frame up is hands down THE BEST place to do your custom framing!

This is the second year in a row that we have gone here to get a custom frame for our company and they just do not disappoint! They are friendly, knowledgeable and professional and the final product looks great! If you need something framed, I would highly recommend going here and checking them out.

I bought a cool print online the other day and had these guys frame it for me. The process was a bit pricey and took a couple days, admittedly, but I already bought a light for my frame (check it out, it’s very fancy:
) so I was fine with waiting and paying and such.
And, let me tell you, it came out great. There as absolutely no damage to my print and it was arranged completely evenly and artistically, the perfect balance within the frame. I really love it. You could say they framed up my heart.

We brought our wedding photo to have custom framed and Dj and his brother were so patient in showing us several options! We picked up our photo today and they did an awesome job! I couldn’t be happier. Thanks guys! I will refer all of my friends and family to you.

These guys know framing. My wife had a Models Picture. Maybe you’ve heard of her Cindy Crawford? Black and white laying on her belly covered in pearls. The gentleman requested a silver detail. He had the materials and said it would be done next day before end of closing.
Not only did we get great service, we got a $ 50 discount by checking in! These discounts always come handy. Michaels & Aaron brothers were going to take 1 – 2 weeks with out any discount.
When we picked it up my wife & I were impressed. The quality was so good, we’re thinking of getting our family pictures framed here.

Wish I would have seen the $ 50 off coupon before I paid. The owner was very helpful and kind. My frames look great. I agree with the other reviews… a bit pricey. I am very pleased with the products though!

I had two pieces custom framed here — my wedding ketubah and an original painting. They handled the items with care, and I felt totally comfortable leaving the pieces with them. The staff helped us choose colors and materials for the mats and frames, and the end results are gorgeous. The work was a bit pricey, but I feel like I got what I paid for.

I recently got into collecting art and was informed that I should really have UV protective glass to prevent photobleaching. My default response was to go to Michael’s and get a custom cut piece there. Then my Unilocaly senses kicked in and I searched for other places in the area. The Great Frame Up could cut the same dimensions of the same UV protection for a little less than half the cost of Michael’s. And this guy is a professional! How could I say no to this?
I came in and basically told him that I’m a complete noob and am just starting out. He gave me honest opinions about custom framing, UV glass, and matting. He said that the only thing he’s willing to compromise with is the framing itself (with respect to buying it somewhere else cheaper) — nice to know he’s willing to save me even more money! He also informed me of the importance of acid-​free backboards (something I hadn’t considered). He took the time to walk me through the process and helped me understand a bit more about framing.
To give you an idea of pricing: I had a 12“x12″ piece that needed custom cut UV glass, matting, and a new acid-​free backboard and it only cost $ 36.81 (without tax) — ridiculously cheaper than what it would cost at Michael”s! The way the pricing works is that there’s a standard piece of glass and any artwork that falls into that size gets charged the same. Once the artwork is bigger than the standard piece, the price gets bumped up.
It only took him a few days to get two of my pieces done (cut glass, matting, and acid-​free backboards). He called promptly to let me know that they were done. Both pieces are now up on my walls and I couldn’t be happier! He really does a great job and is a master at his craft.
I have a few more pieces I’ll need him to do (for now) — can’t wait to go back!

I purchased a poster for my husband that was a scratch off map of the world (we scratch off the destinations we have traveled to together) and needed to be handled with care.
I dropped it off here after finding this place on Unilocal.They honored the $ 50 off coupon and said not to worry — they would handle the poster with care as not to scratch the poster during the framing process. I said I wanted it in 2 days and the man who helped me said that it shouldn’t be a problem.
They called me a couple days later to say it was ready and I picked up the newly framed poster. It looked awesome and was perfectly intact!
Totally thrilled. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who has a custom framing need.

I wanted to frame a 42×30 inch poster, and I could tell that the gentlemen who helped me frame my poster are true artists. they know the technical side of their craft, and they helped me display my poster with the artistic expression I wanted. They estimated that I could get it in two weeks, and I asked if it were possible to finish the job in one week (the poster was a birthday gift). they told me that the delay has to do with their supplier– if they can get the frames that I wanted in time, they would surely get it done in one week.

Very professional. Great service! We bought a couple paintings from a local artist in Italy. I had a vision of how I wanted the final pieces to look and he made it happen. Lots of choices. I was on a bit of a budget and they were able to accommodate. Everything was just perfect. Thank you!

Had some old anatomy maps framed, and they turned out awesome! I didn’t know how I wanted them framed or what color, and everyone in the store was so helpful and patient. Went through a bunch of different frames, paired with different mats and even different grades of glass panes. This place is not cheap, but I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. If I had anything else worthy of framing I would have it done here. Worth every penny!

Last night, I went to pick up the panoramic I had framed. I was running behind schedule and didn’t think I’d be able to make it before they closed at 7 pm. At 6:55, I called the shop and told them I was approximately 5 minutes away and asked if they would wait for me. The man I spoke with on the phone confirmed on his initiative that the panoramic was in fact ready to go and then promised to wait for me. I was pretty impressed because let’s be honest, who wants to stay late just because someone else is running late, especially when that person could just come during business hours on another day?
When I arrive at the shop at 7:01, my panoramic was ready and waiting for me. They did a beautiful job, and my boyfriend was thrilled — it looked great and went well with his framed diploma. It’s going to look great displayed in his office. Thanks, Great Frame Up! I’ll definitely be returning for future framing needs.

I had an obscure 5-​piece aluminum art sculpture that I wanted framed. I walked into the Great Frame Up with a photo and some measurements. They were so helpful. We discussed different options, all being very costly due to the project at hand. After discussing my options, I was given the opportunity to order the frame by itself. This saved me ¾ of the cost and my husband was thrilled that he was given a «project». My husband purchased a piece of wood from Home Depot for the back, wrapped and glued the fabric matting, silicone the aluminum art pieces, then attached all of this to the frame we purchased from the Great Frame Up. He also added hanging hardware. It looks beautiful! It’s really nice when you are given options. They were even helpful enough to provide me with instructions on how to complete the project at home! This is true customer service and deserved 5 stars!

Why does custom framing cost so much? It’s as if the wood were weather treated with Bald Eagle tears and the matting were made of stretched whale skin. That being said, you get what you pay for at «The Great Frame Up.» Pretty much everything that comes out of this place is going to be custom, so don’t expect to get some prefabricated piece of plywood that you would find at Walmart, Target, Kmart, etc…
It’s a nice little shop and the owner was very welcoming. He took his time in showing me a variety of different options that he felt would accent my particular artwork. When the work was ready to be picked up (sooner than the original estimate I might add) he just shot me a quick email. Couldn’t have been more convenient. The work he did also looked fantastic. To summarize: Great service and great work. All that’s left is for you to sell your first born, then you can afford to deck the walls!

Can I just say, Mohsen is a framing guru!
I brought in 2 paintings that I had picked up with my wife from a Filipino arts and trade store, and they were in pretty sad shape. The first one had been leaned against the corner of another painting and as a result, had developed an indentation in the middle of the painting, so it needed to be re-​stretched. The other was just badly mounted by the artist and needed to be re-​stretched and actually required to have some extra canvas added to it so that it could be placed onto a new stretcher frame just to be able to frame it.
Mohsen was extremely patient while helping me pick out frames, did a great job finding frame colors that complemented the art AND stayed within my budget, and finally, explained in detail the work that needed to be done to restore and enhance the pieces.
Both Aaron Brothers and Michaels asked for almost $ 400-​$ 500 for EACH painting. Are you kidding?!? TGFU was able to do it for less than HALF that. Like all the previous reviewers have said, framing in general isn’t cheap, but they do 5-​star quality work here. Mohsen promised the paintings within 2 weeks as the shop was pretty busy, plus I told him that I wasn’t in any rush, and yet he was able to finish them a couple days early.
I would most definitely recommend TGFU for any and all of your framing needs.
