Description

Specialties

The Old Schoolhouse is a unique kind of accommodation. It’s a restored 1930s school house with huge windows across the front, 12 foot ceilings and blackboards to write on.

Breakfast is served in the old lunch room which now includes the living/gathering area and dining room. The old school piano is ready and waiting to be played. As are the guitars, violin, rhythm instruments and orchestral organ. A favorite with groups and families –it also serves well for couples and singles. The organic garden supplies berries in season and plenty of salad ingredients for those who frequent the pizza/creamie establishment in town and bring the pies home. Other «finer dining“restaurants are nearby. As is historic St Anne’s Shrine and the famous fossil reef nature center. Fisk Farm Tea Garden on Sunday afternoons (July & August), great beaches nearby, safe bike trails with lakeside views, farms, woods, an old apple orchard with café and apple wine. Who could ask for more? Midway between Montréal and Burlington, VT, The Old Schoolhouse makes a fabulous home-base for travelers.

Meet the Business Owner

Carol B.

Business Owner

Carol wears a number of hats. In the off season, she lives in NJ and is a school counselor as well as a therapist in private practice. She bought the schoolhouse in 2001 and spent the next ten summers rehabbing the rundown building. The main magician behind the rehab is her next door neighbor who can fix anything and his wife is the amazing housekeeper and sometimes fill-in host. Without these two — the place simply could not run.
