The Beehive Salon

I have been going to this salon since October 2015 and have never been happier with my hair. I came in for the first time with an odd and difficult request for «oil slick» (an array of subtle colors) coloring on my dark brown hair. My stylist, Ashley, was knowledgeable, comfortable and confident in preforming such intricate coloring. She also gives killer haircuts! The staff here is friendly and personable and the salon itself is super clean and has a great vibe.
As a cruelty free consumer, I love that they only use products that are organic, vegan and cruelty free. Their products leave your hair feeling and looking healthy and silky. I continue to get compliments on my haircut and color everyday!

Last month was my first time at The Beehive. Not only was my stylist, Ashley, the sweetest thing in the entire world (!!), she also gave me a killer haircut :)
The salon was super cute, right in the heart of Islip village. I love the products that they used and even decided to purchase the charcoal conditioner, which I’m so happy with.
I’m so glad I decided to try out the Beehive, and am so glad that I have found my forever stylist!

What a cool salon! I’ve been looking for a local salon that isn’t pretentious, and I found it. Due to medications I have to take, my hair is very sensitive with breaking, and very dry. Andrea was great with suggestions, and organic alternatives. My hair looks amazing and as soon as I got hm my family loved it! The salon is very relaxing with fun island music, and a comfy setting. I will be back with my daughter who’s excited to go once she saw the shop. Stop next door for a coffee or tea and have a nice relaxing time getting a great cut or color!!!

I love the vibe of this salon. It is very relaxing. For me, I really hate salons with the employees talking all the time and the smell of perm solution. I would feel terrible anxiety about getting a haircut because I felt uncomfortable and out of place. This salon is nothing like that! They use all natural products, no strong odors, and all you hear is the great music selection. Jessica is fabulous! She is kind and gentle. I get a haircut (no color) and blow dry and I always walk out feeling great! Her technique of shampooing my hair is unlike any other in my life. It’s amazing! She also fixed my son’s scalped head from another stylist. If you are looking for a calm, relaxing experience along with a great haircut, then I highly recommend this salon to you.

I really tried really hard to love this place. Brianna is fabulous however since she’s now in the city, she only comes once a month. That being said, when I make an appointment with her for 9:15 on a Monday (they usually open at 10), you should tell your staff so they actually show up. I waited until 9:45 when someone finally came in who acknowledged that she saw my appointment and didn’t know why no one was there. Right. She even confirmed Brianna does not work Mondays but had appointments booked. Doubting there was any communication to her about her appointments, I left and will not be back. This is not the first time my appointments have been butchered. If you have an entire day to kill and don’t mind being rushed then this is the place for you. I’m extremely upset and disappointed

I wanted to chop off all my hair (for the first time!) and it was difficult to find a salon I trusted. I wanted a long island salon with a brooklyn vibe –and found it in Beehive! All organic, plant-​based products, and a skilled master stylist (Jeanine the owner! She’s great!) who expertly crafted a very skilled short ‘do without a lot of fanfare — I just showed her a few pics and she quickly saw she wanted to do, and did it. And it turned out great! Also, though I realize this is just a personal preference, I REALLY respect a stylist who doesn’t chat you up the whole time. I go to the salon to relax and enjoy the experience (even close my eyes, or poke my phone) and it’s SO HARD to find a hair dresser who will just leave you alone. Jeanine was the perfect combo of informative and inquisitive when necessary, and focused when I just wanted to close my eyes and zen out. I even brought my newborn in, and the place was so chill he slept the entire time! This salon is a good 40+ minute drive from my house but it was worth it. Thank you Beehive, I’ll be back!

I went to The Beehive Salon yesterday for the first time. I love the décor and the way the shop is set up. My stylist was Renee and she was very attentive and professional. Renee took the time to listen to what I had in mind and was very patient while I showed her 10 different pictures of cuts that I wanted lol. Renee explained to me which cuts would work best for me and somehow combined aspects of several cuts that I had showed her pics of. I LOVE the cut she gave me & so does my family! Renee also did my color and I couldn’t be happier with it. She is a master when it comes to color! I know several people that go to the Beehive just for Renee’s services and they all look fabulous every time. My daughter, Mikayla, also goes to Renee and has never been unhappy with anything she has done. I feel that Renee treats everyone that sits in her chair with respect & kindness and she will bend over backwards to achieve the vision of her clients. I also met the owner of the salon and she was a lovely woman (sorry, I don’t recall her name). She thanked me for coming into the salon and was very sweet and made sure I was happy with each phase of my color, cut and style. The Beehive is a great place with very pleasant staff, great location and they have a great line of organic products for sale. The salon also supports local artists by hanging and selling their beautiful works of art. I will recommend this salon & Renee to all my friends & family without hesitation. Looking forward to my next visit! Thank you Renee for making my first visit to The Beehive such a wonderful experience!

NOPE. Had my hair done by Jessica. while she was very nice, and the cut she did is good, the color is AWFUL. Going to another salon tomorrow to get the mess on my head fixed.
She clearly didn’t know how to do what I wanted (I brought in pictures, wasn’t giving some vague description, so it’s not that I wasn’t clear…) and instead of admitting she wasn’t sure, she just kind of did whatever she wanted. It looks like I messily did it myself. So disappointed, really wanted to like this place :(

Best haircut around! I have been going here for years and never had a bad cut or style. Brianna is the best!

I love Beehive! I have been getting my hair cut there for almost 2 years. It’s a cool hip place that uses all the up-​to-​date techniques. They promote products that are green/​environmental. I have been going to Brianna (Queen Bee) and I love her. Bean is the owner of the salon and also does an amazing job and is quite the hip business professional! It is the best salon on Long Island! Check it out!

Went here to fix my horribly done ombré, very nice and knowledgable receptionist put me with Dani. She was totally cool and informed me of everything she was doing and making sure I was happy with my results. She fixed my color, gave me a great haircut and even hooked me up with coupons for my next visit. Awesome salon, cool vibe and great experience! Highly recommend !!

This was my first time here. I had my hair cut by Renee and my experience here was a really good one. I have had long hair for as long as I can remember and I’ve been contemplating cutting it off to donate it but I have been way too afraid. Renee was really great and made me feel so much better about the drastic cut I getting. Cutting of 12″ of my hair was really scary for me and I was afraid about how it was going to come out. I am really happy with the hair cut that Renee gave me, she really did a great job. If you are contemplating a new place I highly suggest giving this place a try.

I have seen a few stylists here over the years and been pleased every time. This spring I came in with damaged, fried hair and asked Renee to chop it off. She did a fantastic job! The cut she gave me removed all my bad parts and left me with a super cute longish bob that looked healthier than my hair ever has. She knew exactly what to do to give me volume and shape. I never expected to be so happy with short hair. I’ve now had two cuts by her and they both were really great. I also highly recommend their all natural deep conditioning treatment. After just one treatment my hair had significantly reduced frizz and breakage, and looked and felt shiny and healthy. This place is great.

I actually decided to go to The Beehive after reading some reviews on Unilocal!I didn’t request anyone and ended up with Renee. I also decided to chop off my hair to donate it and was pretty scared about going to a stranger. I had no idea what I was asking for but Renee was patient with me and translated what I was trying to say. I also felt like she spent a lot of time making sure the cut was perfect, which I don’t feel like I’ve experienced in a looonnng time. I really thought she was great and am very relieved with my haircut and knowing I’ve found someone to go back to. The vibe of The Beehive is really relaxed and I thought everyone was genuinely friendly, not fake like they were trying to get you to come back. Where the salon is located is really cute as well. If you’re looking for a new place to go (possibly someone who’s recently moved to the area like me!) I would suggest The Beehive Salon and Renee!

Hmm… place is really cool and stylish. I got haircut but famous Brianna. While her personality is great and energetic her technique really disappointed me. There was one style I didn’t want and that’s exactly what she gave me. Anyway, I will not be going back and already made appointment to fix it somewhere else.

Briana is seriously the hair whisperer! Haha I went in with a pretty bad ombré aka «NOombre» lol and came out with the most beautiful ombré and haircut ever! She is a hair savior! She even made it look 100X’s healthier I didn’t think that was even possible! she did everything she could to fix my hair, she was super patient. I’m so glad I found this salon, they’re all super friendly and helpful and they make you feel right at home! Save yourselves from bad coloring jobs and come here! Learn from my mistake lol

4^th (maybe 5^th) time here and I still love it as much as I did the first time. :) great hair makes me happy.

Jessica is fabulous. Did a really nice natural highlight/​lowlight with haircut and I felt totally comfortable. Price is not cheap but neither is the service. Not pushy to buy products and the girls were all very down to earth. I’d be happy to go back. Parking is abundant in free municipal lots near the salon.

Just got my hair cut by Brianna! She gave me an amazing cut! She was able to look at pictures I had, listen to what I was looking for in a cut, and incorporate my personal style, while keeping in mind my hair type. She has been the ONLY hairdresser to get it right! Beautiful cut. I highly recommend Brianna and will definitely be going back to her.

I passed by this little chic bohemian salon hundreds of times before I got all huffy and impulsive and wanted to chop 5 inches off my ‘do. I was impressed and immediately struck that hey weren’t stuck in the 80s nor did they have their heads so far up their butts in the fashion/​beauty world that they couldn’t communicate with us normal folk.
I liked the calm atmosphere @ beehive. Primary colors and dainty painted clouds adorned the walls of the salon. Wasn’t too busy looking but bright and I dare say, happy!
Lisa, a fellow caffeine addict breathed new life in to my long wavy tresses. She was quite friendly and not pushy with services or products. My cut came out fantastic, with my only complaint being that that my hair has a bit tooooo much body.
I was pleased to find out that they use a plethora of organic and eco-​friendly products here. I even heard that the owner even makes her own shampoo, sweet!
The Beehive’s music was eclectic. They played plenty of indie songs, lots of killers, deathcab and some classic rock. It was musically all over the spectrum. At times I found it to be a weeeeee bit too loud but I’ll forgive them, the tunes were good.
Prices are pretty standard for salons in the area. Referral program gets you some perks as well. If you’re in the mood for something a little more down to earth, check it out!
