I contacted and hired the crew at Foss Audio for a security system for a rare import I recently acquired. From the first phone call, they were professional, spoke directly and in terms that made sense, and guided me towards my best options.
After settling on them out of several other shops out of convenience (re: scheduling), I showed up and asked them to talk me through my security options. They ended up recommending, based on my current and future needs, a solution that was the most efficient — not the most expensive. From day one, it was obvious they cared about what was best for my car and myself.
I think the biggest statement their work makes is that they care about the cars they work on. They’re not just there to force out an install and find the next car. I brought in a rare car, and they were constantly focused on preserving the integrity of the classic vehicle. They made the installation with minimal cuts, drilling, or other modifications, while still fitting it all in cleanly and professionally.
Because of all the care they took, the installation took longer than ballparked — a good thing, in my opinion (I’ll take good slow work over a rush job any day). Even then, Pete came in after hours and worked late to make sure my car was ready for me when they promised it.
The system I have works perfectly so far; Dan walked me through all of the ins and outs and considerations for it, and now I know how to use it safely and correctly.
I’ll be back for all future stereo and security work on all of my cars. Thanks again, Pete and Dan!

Peter did the install on my stereo and it has been flawless. I had a Jetta TDI with a factory stereo that, apparently as expected, died about a year ago. My biggest worry was having loose or wobbly parts after having the dash torn apart. BUT it looks like a factory dash and the stereo with Bluetooth, voice commands, custom USB placement, and functioning steering wheel buttons has been perfect (I purchased the Pioneer NEX4100). It was fast (about 3 hours) and personal. Every aspect, I was asked on my preferences and options were explained, pros and cons. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience :-D

The short story is that I had a remote start system installed in my car for birthday. After 4 days of having it my transmission went out and I was forced to get rid of the car. The new car already had remote start. I removed all of the hardware hoping that stereotomy would buy back the system even if at a discounted price but nope. I’m stuck with $ 400 worth of equipment that I can’t even sell online for $ 200. Thanks for being so grinch like during this season, stereotomy.

This was my first time at Stereotomy — saw that they got reviews overall & had won KING5 «Best Of WA». Took my car in to have the stereo be iPhone compatible & they did a great job! Everyone I dealt with was really nice & very helpful — I would highly recommend them.

This was my first time at this shop. My wife’s car needed new front door speakers, so from the Unilocal reviews I thought I would try this place, a very nice/​knowledgeable guy named Alan set me up and did the work, he did a great job, very careful. I’m a happy customer.

Interesting small shop experience. I think you go here for experienced sales knowledge and top quality installation which is what I received.
There is a bias toward «made in the USA» products. If you know you want something from Japan you might call first. I am unsure if I could have bought an Alpine product here. Although you may receive sales service and installation quickly, I wouldn’t go in with that expectation. I counted two sales guys who work one at a time and a single installer. All it takes is a flood of a few new customers, phone calls or blow and go installations and you will likely wait or be interrupted. Blow and go installs seem to have priority over regular customer scheduled installs. My install was delivered two days later than scheduled. It wasn’t a problem for me in my situation but it might be for you.
I did enjoy working with these folks to install a professional high quality stereo system and I would travel out of my way to do it again. Just manage your expectations and your experience should be okay.

very knowledgeable and helpful. Knew there products very well, they answered all my questions and helped me select the best stereo for the type of music I listen to in my car. Just changing the stereo head has made a huge difference in sound quality. I will be going back soon to change my rear speakers and install an amp.

if you are thinking of having a car stereo installed you must head over to stereotomy without delay! my experience here was nothing short of exceptional.
first of all they do not attempt to up-​sell anything and will build the system to your taste and specs without any condescension or obfuscating tech-​speak. of course, if you’re at their level they will get deep into the minutiae of the technical details if you’re inclined to indulge that conversation. these folks love what they do!
second, i am not sure about any of the other installers but i highly recommend you specifically request CHRIS do your installation. this guy has incredible passion for sound and executes the work in your vehicle as he would his own. he cares not only about optimally installing your gear but configuring it so it sounds clean and accurate (rather than just loud). let’s face it — the environment in your car is not ideally suited to audio. you want someone who understands this fact and works accordingly. this is your guy!
i got a chance to hang out with CHRIS while he did my installation because he had to work after hours to complete it (due to unfortunately incomplete and inaccurate wiring diagrams that they obtain from another service provider). he took it as a challenge to figure out everything himself and in every conceivable way agonized over tweaking it to coax out the absolute perfect sound. i repeat: this is the guy you want installing audio in your car!!!
i will be coming back for a fiberglass sub enclosure and install in the coming months (since i elected not to get this until i could ascertain whether i really wanted it). i have no doubt that work will be completed with same extreme attention to detail and professional execution.
do not waste your time with the substandard work provided by Car Toys or Best Buys. if you care about quality and are interested in stepping up to true audiophile quality sound — you simply cannot go wrong with stereotomy!
I swear for weeks you will be doing nothing but looking for excuses to drive… so get over there immediately, schedule a road trip, and rip down the highway against the backdrop of a system that puts you center stage of your favorite concerts!

I have used Stereotomy for installation of several sound systems on 3 of my cars. These guys not only answered all my dumb questions but used the highest quality wiring and workmanship to get the jobs done. The dedication to quality and customer service is unmatched by other stereo installers. I wish I could give them SIX stars!

About 2 months ago I had my Toyota FJ Cruiser factory radio replaced with a new Pioneer multimedia DVD receiver with 7″ widescreen touch panel display as well as an XM receiver and antenna installed and I cannot express how happy I am with the results. The crew there did a professional job and had it ready when promised. The selection of radios/​speakers on hand are not as large as other mainstream stores but their installation is professional and top-​notch. Any of those other so called professional installers wouldn’t come close.
This is the second time we have used Stereotomy. My wife also had her factory radio replaced in her Nissan Xterra about a year ago and no problems as well. Do yourself a favor and don’t bother with anyone else.

Stereotomy installed a new Kenwood car stereo head unit in my 2006 Prius, and I was completely satisfied with the experience — I’ll definitely return here for our next car stereo.
I had found the unit I wanted by researching Crutchfield’s and Kenwood’s websites. I assumed when I went to Stereotomy they would sell me the unit at a higher price than Crutchfield, but I was pleasantly surprised that they had the exact same price.
Labor for the install, which also included both a microphone and steering wheel control was a reasonable $ 100. We had stopped in on a Friday evening, and because they had the parts in stock they were able to do the install the next afternoon, lasting about 2 hours (we walked over to the nearby Gilman village shopping area to pass the time).

It’s been a while since I’ve Unilocaled a business, but I thought the experience I had at Stereotomy yesterday was worth the effort.
Here’s the story: Brought my Mazda RX-​8 in to have some work done a week ago, and for anybody who knows these rotary engines, they are prone to flooding when they are repeatedly started and stopped; something that is bound to happen when you are having your vehicle pulled in and out of a shop while being tested, etc. I let them know about my concerns, and although nobody there seemed familiar with the issue, they researched it instead of just assuming I was full of baloney, and promised to do their best to keep the issue from occurring.
Even with the best of intentions, when I came to pick up my car yesterday, it was flooded. I was not exactly surprised, I had given the same speech a few months ago to the folks who put in my new clutch, and they managed to flood the car too. The lesson is, this car loves to flood when work is being performed on it.
Here’s where they earned their five stars: Instead of telling me there was nothing they could do and referring me to a mechanic, they helped me wheel my car in to the bay, did research on correcting the problem (I’ve never personally flooded my car, so I’ve never had to fix it before), and spent a good hour with me fixing it. Mind you, I was not charged a penny for their time correcting this issue, and they were good natured and accommodating the whole time. Finally we got Rexy to turn over (that’s her name, deal with it), and I left an elated customer.
Stereotomy has won my business. I have plans for a new sub and bluetooth system in the not too distant future, and I will definite have this work performed by these guys. I was blown away with how helpful they were, and they never once tried to pass blame for Rexy flooding, they just set to work fixing the problem. If only all shops worked this way.

Dan was very great at explaining the different options for my vehicle and really asked me what i was looking to do with my car instead of just selling me the top of the line stuff right there. I found these guys beat cartoys price and the service they offer is twice as good. The installer was even willing to stay after hours to work on my vehicle for me and a great deal was given to me as well. If your looking for a company that is not out to just take your money but truly care about what your trying to accomplish call Stereotomy as i will without a doubt be heading back there for repeat business.
