Best shop I have been in period. I spent about an hour in the shop learning about the products and the differences between them. The difference with this place and others is that these guys really care about their products and the service for the customer and you can feel it. I highly recommend them.

I had no idea what I was looking for, but was helped right from the start. Nicole came over, answered all our questions, and let us decide what we were looking for, no pressure. To be totally honest, I thought she could have been more pushy.
We ended up choosing different inserts for our up and downstairs fireplaces. From purchase to delivery, installation, everything — it was incredibly smooth. I almost fear the problems I’m going to have when updating our home and this couldn’t have been easier. Def. recommend.

owner was great and helped me replace a fan from an old gas fireplace that came with my house. The original fan was no longer produced so found a replacement. when that fan failed after a year he gave me a full refund and found a better fan from the manufacturer. always helpful and friendly when I go in.

Went here to get a Big Green Egg. They were so knowledgable and helpful in getting us exactly what we needed at the best price possible. I’ve gone back several times for accessories, and they are always incredibly helpful in finding the right things (there are so many!!). One of the guys there even created his own rack for use in the egg that’s for sale. Highly recommend.

Great Place! We are from well outside their service area but stopped in because our local stores carry very few contemporary fireplaces and stoves. Even though it was clear they were not going to get any business from us they spent a great deal of time showing us options and discussing or rather complicated install situation. If they spent that much time with us I am sure they would also provide outstanding service for customers in the area. If you are looking for a stove or fireplace you should definitely stop in. We live almost 300 miles away and it was well worth our time!

Terrific store. Great folks running the place with excellent product knowledge and a clear goal to help people find what they need. While waiting to be helped and looking over their display area I overheard them working with a couple that had excellent questions & concerns about a fireplace and I must say I was impressed with the process of discovery and eventual recommendation. I was there to buy a Big Green Egg smoker (which I did!) but if I need a fireplace I will go there first and last! Great local family owned business.

Unfortunately, I also had a poor experience with Thompson’s.
I went in to find a replacement fireplace for my recently purchased townhouse condo. The sales guy was great and they had just what I wanted. We chatted about the fact I lived in a condo and wanted to update the fireplace. I told them my contractor would be in contact. I left feeling very happy.
Next my contractor went in and talked to the salesman. They pulled up documentation on my condo showing the work that had been done by previous owner and the how the roof connected to other units. The salesman wanted to have someone come out with my contractor to make sure they got the job right. Great!
This is where things got really odd. The guy coming out called and delayed appointment by two hours because he got caught in traffic. My contractor could not stay so I came home from my office. The guy arrived on time. As he entered the door he said «Your replacing your insert so you don’t mind if I break it.» I told him two previous people had taken it out to look and they didn’t break it. Then he said «So you had two other companies look at this?» I told him it was my home inspector and my contractor. He then took out a screw driver and started dissembling the old insert. I had watched this done twice previously and no one had to unscrew anything. The grates lift off and it slides out. When I said this to him, he got irritated and went out to his truck.
When he came back in I said «You asked me if I minded if you broke my insert and I want to make sure you understand that I don’t want it broken.» He responded that he knew that they did not have insurance to work on «duplexes». He could look at the insert but they would not be able to do the job. I really was shocked. I told him that I didn’t live in a «duplex» I lived in a condo townhouse and that this was discussed at length with the people at the store and they said they could do the replacement. Finally he said «what do you want me to do?». I answered «Your job» and he left.
The good news is this ugly incident happened before the job was started. It would have been worse if my wall was opened up when things got weird.

We purchased the large Big Green Egg a few years ago from Guy. We had to warranty a part and he was helpful with the paperwork. The store has a great selection of BGE inventory and accessories, so we were able to find all the needed parts. We decided to go back this summer and purchase a mini BGE to take with us when we go camping. We asked Guy if he could make a carrier for it, for easier transportation. The first one was slightly too narrow based on the measurements we took. He worked on the measurements again, and the new carrier holds the mini perfectly. It’s actually better than what we imagined. Based on his professional, honest, helpful service over the years, I would recommend this store for both fireplace and BGE products and services.

I went in to get some information on The Big Green Egg. It’s too bad the male sales person, I assume the owner did not take my inquiry with serious interest. His lack of elaboration and unwillingness to provide me with any additional information potentially lost a future sale of over thousand dollars. I would suggest providing quality customer service to anyone who walks in your door.

We wanted to convert both of our home’s unused wood burning fireplaces into more efficient gas inserts. We visited multiple dealer showrooms and quickly became overwhelmed by the choices in options, aesthetics, efficiency, and prices.
Thompson’s helped make the process easier by pre-​selecting for their showroom only models that meet high standards for efficiency and features (all their showroom units qualify for PSE efficiency rebates). That then made it easy to focus a decision mainly on aesthetics and pricing. We ended up purchasing both units there, a more traditional R.H. Peterson insert and a more modern looking glass lined Kozy Heat insert.
It took four weeks from the purchase date to install date. The install itself went smoothly with the two installers working together and had everything looking good and working well in a four hours. There was an issue with the fuse in one of our units, and the store’s technician Max came out the next day to make the fix and had it working again.
Overall we are very happy with our purchase. They look great and produce a tremendous amount of heat making our living room very warm and comfortable.
Gas inserts are not cheap so I suggest you shop around but be sure to visit Thompson’s when you do.

We picked up a Big Green Egg, BBQ Guru, an amazing Challenger Cart, and all the extras and goodies to get cooking on the Big Green Egg from Guy. My husband has always been a charcoal nut, and has gone through several different BBQ’s. Now it was time to step up and buy the egg. Not only did Thompson’s offer delivery and setup of the egg, but they even spent a great deal of time getting us used to our new grill.
The first time we fired it up we cooked a perfect steak, and from Guy’s recommendation, we smoked a brisket for 17 hours without having to open the lid and were rewarded with the most delicious and juicy brisket we have ever had.
6 stars for the great customer service and amazing quality products. We will be back for sure!

Great Customer Service. Helped me fix a fireplace issue with very little cost. I would contact them every time I need a fix or new fireplace.

Our experience with Thompson’s Hearth & Home has been absolutely wonderful — so great in fact that I am taking the time to write my first (and probably only) review ever!
Three years ago we bought our first gas fireplace at their store, and Nicole was extremely helpful with making sure we found the right one — we still love it, and we are getting lots of compliments for it :)
A year later we upgraded our open fireplace with an insert. Guy was incredibly patient about going through all the different possibilities with us. We finally found the perfect solution, and have since enjoyed countless happy hours in front of our new fireplace. Even the chimney sweeper commented on how great this stove was, and only charged us for a regular ‘open fireplace’ cleaning (instead of ‘insert cleaning’), since it was so easy to do.
After three years of faithful service to us, our gas fireplace started having some trouble and would not stay lit. I called Thompson’s Hearth & Home, expecting to make an appointment for someone to come out and look at it in the next few weeks. I was very surprised when they said a technician would come out that very same day. It turned out the technician was held up with a different customer, so Guy came over himself and didn’t leave until the problem was fixed, which was around 8pm in the evening! I have never experienced such amazing customer service!
Needless to say, we had no further issues with the gas fireplace, it works like a charm. We were so grateful, especially since we lost power 2 days later, and the gas fireplace kept us warm and cozy.
Thompson’s Hearth & Home is simply fabulous, and the owners, Guy and Nicole, are some of the nicest people we’ve ever met. HIGHLY recommended!

THE place to buy your fireplace insert is Thompson’s Hearth and Home! The service is outstanding, everyone at the store is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We had a complicated situation with several issues to solve, and they came up with wonderful solutions and our fireplace is fantastic. They went WAY above and beyond the regular service to make sure everything was just right. We could not be happier. You simply could not find a better place to buy a stove.

I went into Thompson to look at the Big Green Egg and the Primo grills. I had done a good bit of research on different grills, and just wanted to see some in person. I spoke with Guy, who was very knowledgeable and also patient with my many questions. He took the time to go over the product in detail, I never felt pressured, and though I wasn’t expecting to, I walked out the proud owner of a Big Green Egg. I’m very happy to have a quality local business I can support. Also, despite the similarity in last name, I am no relation to the owners of the business. Just a happy customer. I’ll be back soon. I forgot to get a thermometer while I was in.

Our experience with purchasing a custom gas fireplace insert at Thompson’s Hearth & Home was first class. Our quest to buy a new fireplace insert took us to about 7 suppliers, including Thompson’s Hearth & Home, located throughout King County.
What set Thompson’s apart from the others was 1) superior product knowledge & expertise and 2) no pressure sales. We were not disappointed — throughout the whole experience, from initial order through installation, both Guy, Nicole and team provided outstanding customer service that went above and beyond.
If you’re in the market for anything fireplace related, Thompson’s should be at the top of your list and I would highly recommend them because they will go the extra mile to make sure they provide (and install) the right solution for your needs.

This is a great business to buy your fireplace from, etc. The people are really caring and want to make sure things work out well. I bought a fire place from them three years ago and had a good experience.
After doing some research I decided to buy with them. I specially drove out of my way because of their good customer service
I called with a question today, three years later, and they were super helpful. They treated me as if I was a new customer even though they knew I had bought my fire place three years ago.

Definitely the place to go if upgrading your fireplace or pellet stoves! I have purchased two stoves here… Amazing selection and great customer service. I have also bought one of their Big Green Egg barbecue’s… The best grill ever. This is a family run shop… Very personalized customer service!
