Ithaca To Go

Awesome variety of restaurants, fast delivery and my food always arrives hot. Saves me a lot of hassle when I want restaurant quality food but don’t feel like going out in bad weather. Wish they were open later than 11pm though.

I tried Ithaca To Go for the first time yesterday & everything was wonderful so I’m surprised at the amount of negative reviews. I used their website rather than phone to place my order (requesting food from Spicy Asia) & didn’t have any problems with the website or placing my order (multiple appetizers & two meals).
Upon completion of my order, I received an estimated delivery window of up to an hour & they arrived well within that time frame. The order was complete, with no mistakes, & still piping hot.
As a new resident of Ithaca (living at a continuing care community with somewhat limited mobility), I was really happy to find this service & even though the tip & delivery fee definitely increased the price, I will certainly use Ithaca To Go in the future.
For people with limited mobility, this is really a great service.

In theory, Ithaca to go is a great service– it promotes local restaurants, and is a good local alternative to larger delivery services in a town that’s all about keeping it local. In practice though, it’s not so great.
The wait times are extremely long– you’re going to be waiting over an hour for your food. And even then, your food might come much later than your estimated delivery time (my last successful order was delivered 20 minutes late). The delivery charge is ridiculous– $ 5 delivery fee for a $ 6 sandwich? The higher charge might be appropriate for some of the more upscale options on their roster (think Moosewood), but it’s not worth it for a Moe’s burrito or a waffle from Waffle Frolic.
And the customer service, both from the drivers and phone reps, has really gone downhill. Two years of ordering without a hitch, but in the last six months I’ve had multiple canceled orders due to their lack of proper management, orders missing items, and extremely late delivery drivers. One weekend, my drink spilled in transit and I only received about ¼ of the beverage I paid for– I got nothing but an awkward ‘Sorry’ until I pushed for a refund– and even then, it was only on the drink, not the meal or the delivery fee. The next weekend, I was called 45 minutes after placing an order and was told they had waited too long to put my order in because they didn’t have enough drivers, and the restaurant had closed before they put in the order. Again, just an awkward I’m sorry– no offer to discount or comp my next meal, nothing.
It’s pretty sad when I get better service, prices, and delivery times from Grubhub, considering this is supposed to be a better local alternative to big business.

Pros: They deliver food from some of the best restaurants in Ithaca (the ones that don’t deliver) for a reasonable fee. Depending on the restaurant you choose, your food often arrives quickly and the drivers are quite courteous. When the delivery is slow, it is usually the restaurant’s fault. I often see Ithaca to go drivers waiting at restaurants while I am eating out.
Cons: Their online and phone customer service is a bit lacking. If for some reason the delivery is slower than promised, an item is missing, or you have a special discount promotion, expect none of these issues to be resolved by Ithaca to go. They may promise a refund, they may promise to apply your «Ithaca car share discount» which is supposedly $ 2 off delivery for all car share members, but if you check your credit card these things never happen. The most annoying thing is that they keep on wasting my time with false promises, which leads to multiple calls on my part. I’d rather they just be honest and say «We don’t accept the car share discount anymore, please contact car share so they know to stop promoting our business» or «sorry our system doesn’t allow for refunds, here is a coupon code or how about I place a free second order for you».

Customer service is super helpful. They helped me order a couple items not on the menu and emailed me with an adjusted invoice once they verified prices with the restaurant; saved a bit of money too!
They sent me email updates all through the order/​delivery process and the delivery person was friendly.
4 stars instead of 5 due to wait time of 1.5 hrs. + 15 minutes of waiting for their phone not to be busy. That was within their time estimate but total time is too high for local delivery IMO.

Absolutely the best delivery service in Ithaca. Ive used them several times within the city limits and have always been surprised at how fast my order arrives.
I now live about 10 minutes from town and used them for the 1^st time today. I was very skeptical when i placed my order online and they said I would have my order in 30 minutes… 28 minutes later my food arrived! Unbelievable.
They earn every penny of their delivery fee. The website is easy to use also. This place is absolutely awesome!

Very disappointed first time customer!
I ordered food through Ithaca To Go for the first time. When I opened the package I found out it was not the food that I ordered. They delivered wrong package to me. Then I called them, the rep was nice and offered me two options, one they can resubmit my order but that would take more than 2 hours to wait; or I can eat what I get and they would give me $ 25 refund of my $ 53 purchase. I chose the second option. During the following two weeks, I called the office more than 10 times asking for the promised refund. $ 25 is really not a big deal, but their attitude and poor customer service got me really disappointed. The rep promised «Sir I’ll do it right away» «Sir I’m leaving a message to my manager and she would call you this afternoon»… Nothing happened after 10 promises.
To the owner of Ithaca To Go, you certainly can keep this $ 25 but you lose me as a returning customer and many other people who are reading this review. Please compare the $ 25 gain v.s. the loss of future businesses, not a smart decision! To people who are using the company’s service, I understand that people do make mistakes, admit it and fix it would make customers happy. I waited for two weeks and reminded them more than 10 time to fix their mistake. Now I’m giving up and sharing my poor experience with you. Be careful about this company.

Today was my first time placing an order with Ithaca To Go and it was a breeze. The website is well made and very easy to use.
My food was delivered sooner than expected and everything was still as hot /​cold as you’d get had you had the time to go to the restaurant you were ordering from.
A++ will use again.

Ithaca to go is absolutely the best. Until Ithaca To Go, no one was delivering to my neck of Ellis Hollow except A-​1 Pizzeria in Dryden, and they would only deliver at night. Now we can order from like twenty restaurants, many good and unusual options for delivery services. THey even have Moosewood! I have ordered at least ten times now, and each time have had a great experience. My food always gets here really fast and still nice and hot. The delivery fee is extremely reasonable, especially considering the distance, and the customer service is great. The woman who answers the phone (owner?) is so friendly and helpful. The website is also very good. You just click on the restaurant you want and the menu comes up. Click on the menu items to add them, add comments/​special instructions (have noticed, btw, that the restaurants I’ve ordered from have all been great about following these), hit checkout and you get your food like half an hour later. It takes almost fifteen minutes just to drive out to my house from downtown, how do they do it??? I don’t know. But they are angels. wonderful angels. I can’t say enough good things about them. Its an especially nice service to have on a freezing night when you want to go on a date but can’t get a babysitter/don’t want to brave the cold. Order your food, light some candles, open some wine, start chatting and you have your favorite restaurant recreated in your house.

I have ordered from them numerous times, and they are always at my door earlier than I expect them to be. Their website is wonderful and they serve a lot of restaurants in the Ithaca area. The delivery fee is well worth it if you want to eat Waffle Frolic or Aladdin’s without leaving the house. :)

I used their site to place an order. I immediately received an email stating that my order was on the way. About 10 minutes later, I received a phone call from someone at their office. She said that they were really busy and could not deliver my order. Horrible customer service.
Update: I placed an order through them again to give them another chance at improving on their customer service. They added a $ 10 charge to my order. I called to inquire about it, and they told me it was because of the bad review I gave on Unilocal.Wow. You guys sure know how to treat a customer!
