A dependable neighborhood restaurant with great Thalis. Thalis are Indian /Nepalese /Tibetan bento boxes, providing rice, protein, vegetables, and chutneys on a large metal tray(in this Tibetan variety.) They also have great Puri dishes(puri is a puffed frybread that can be torn and dipped into all the things described above.) Even the momos are quite nice, I would say they aren’t as fresh as others in the area. The skin and the filling, resembling an italian meatball, come cleanly apart and this gives you the impression that a freezer was involved somewhere along the line. Also try their potato dishes. They have very very many. Potatoes Chilly was nice as well as the ‘Samsun’(?) style potatoes which are basically tibetan fries served with hot sauce. Be careful with the goat dishes — many small bones lurk within each piece.

I would have given this a 3, but one of the sauces we received was moldy! The chicken thali was ok, the meat seemed dried, like it had sat out all day. The Momos were good, so was the goat curry, but I definitely don’t recommend the samee bajee.

This place doesn’t look like much– very simple and basic. But when I peered in through the window, a majority of the folks eating seemed to be Nepalese so I thought«it must be pretty authentic.» I am not familiar with Nepalese food having only eaten it twice before so I can’t really state how authentic Mustang Kitchen is though it seemed to be very popular with the locals. In terms of taste, it was just OK. I ordered the traditional thali plate with vegetables, rice, lentil soup and kim-chi like pickes. If you like ginger, then you’ll love the lentil soup. Very flavorful but since I’m not a fan of ginger, I didn’t care for it. The vegetables were potato and string beans and my complaint about it is that it was luke-warm. I prefer my food hot so I was not feeling this either. The pickles reminded me of kim-chi but not as spicy. My favorite of the plate were the greens — flavorful and tasty. My thali was only $ 10 but it seemed high since it was only a few bites/pieces of each with a huge mound of rice.

The food here was absolutely delicious. We had never eaten Nepalese food before and we were recommended excellent dishes by our very friendly waiter. Definitely try the Ghoken farsee goat.

Excellent momos, friendly service, and flavorful food overall. This is probably the best Nepali/Tibetan restaurant I’ve been to in NYC. Highly recommend the chicken momos, which were delicious, as other reviewers have noted.

In a neighborhood with an abundance of Himalayan restaurants, Mustang Thakali Kitchen is certainly one of the better ones. I had the Chicken Momos and Goat Thali, and they were both absolutely delicious. The Chicken Momos were moist and flavorful, and the three sauces they are served with are out of this world. The Goat Thali is exactly how others described: rich, deep flavors and very tender meat. The sides that accompany the meat are perfect portions, and even though I usually don’t like canned green beans they somehow make theirs taste great. Be sure to check this place out. You’ll be glad you did!

Came here for dinner after grocery shopping. Was really happy after I had the meal. There were very unique flavors in the Yhosi dish. The server was friendly and made great recommendations by substituting vegetarian options. Loved the décor and the music as well; very peaceful ambience.

Came here for dinner two nights ago. The moment you step inside the restaurant, it has the smell of someone’s house. Food: We had the Spring Rolls and two Chicken Thalis. The Spring Rolls lacked flavor and the sauces that came with it were not good. The Chicken Thali tasted bland and lacked flavors as well. The only decent part of the Chicken Thali was the cauliflower dish. Service: Was horrible. The waiter took forever to refill our water and the food took too long to come. People who came after us received their food before us. I do not recommend this place and I would not come back here again.

I love this place, whenever I miss my hometown Mustang I come here for its simple yet authentic thali. Today I had the traditional pumpkin sukuti thali, it was yummy but I would have loved it more with the dhedo(cooked buckwheat dough). Well there is always a next time. It’s always a nice experience to come in here, the staffs are friendly and there is always a chance of bumping in with someone u know as I always do.

Came in to have some Goat Thali for lunch today. This was my first time eating Nepalese food, so I can’t comment on authenticity. However, I thought the assortment of dishes were very flavorful and enjoyable. The goat was not«gamey» at all and was falling off the bone. Prices are very reasonable and service was friendly. If you want to give Nepalese food a try, I think this is a great spot.

I love this place. The service is always good and the owner is friendly, but then all owners should be. I had good veggie Momos and lots of their sauces. My favorite person Suni doesn’t work there and that’s a bummer. She was. Like a chandelier there. Lots of happy smiles on her face will miss her. But the food is still good. Go have a ball.

This was my first time eating Nepalese food. We had a few thalis, sel roti which was a hit, we’re Indian and live rotis. Mom is were good, a little thicker on the dumpling dough to my liking. It was delicious, priced nicely and décor clean and cute. My mother, and toddler enjoyed their meal as well. Some room for minor improvments but can’t wait to come again. Delicious food.

One of the best Nepalese Restaurants in NYC. The aalo(potato) chilly is one of the finest item there. Also, don’t forget to eat C Momo. It’s the best momo you can get. The Chicken Lolipop was okay. Defiantly recommended.

Our waiter was nice but barely spoke English so he was unable to answer our questions about the food and make recommendations. Our momos were bland, and the noodle soup I got tasted nothing special. I’ve had delicious Nepali food before so I was disappointed.

This is one of the finest restaurants in Jackson Heights, also known as «little India.» Not on the fancy side, but rather welcoming and comfortable. I usually go with my family to Jackson Heights for shopping follow by dinner. We normally eat here and always order the vegetable samosas for appetizers. My dad and I normally split an order of extra spicy curried lamb with plain white rice. Yummy! ! They have lots of vegetarian selection as well. Very affordable with excellent services.

Juicy momos that are reminiscent of Chinese soup dumplings, but with more hearty skin. I actually prefer that since I’m a carb fiend. I got the beef momos but probably should have went with the chicken variety. Still, it was quite juicy. Their Thali platter is excellent as well. Of course, you need to try the mutton.

After just getting back from Nepal, I was really craving some dal bhat and momo. I had the most incredible dal bhat in Pokhara and I’m still dreaming about that chicken… So I think my expectations were a bit too high for Thakali Kitchen. According to my cousin, this is one of the best places for Nepali food in NYC. It was good but not really that good compared to what I just had in Nepal. The chicken in the dal bhat was too watery I thought and not a curry like I had in Pokhara. The momo were good but nothing too special. My cousin loves«gundruk» so we got both dishes with it, a soup and a sort of stir-fry. It had an interesting taste to me but he said it was great. The service was nothing special and the staff seemed a bit disinterested.
