Passport UYE: Yoga Class at Mimi For Me Yoga Studio

Thanks Matt for organizing this event! I really had a wonderful time. I would like to see Unilocal do more UYEs or official events that promote not only food and drinks, but also healthy living. I mean, come on, after eating a ton at awesome Unilocal Elite events, you gotta work it off right?
Mimi For Me Yoga Studio is the only yoga studio in Jackson Heights (as per the owner) and I think that it is a nice addition to everything that already exists in JH. The studio has a nice size room for practising (with mirrors) and a small reception area. Although small doesn’t mean uninviting. Both the owner and the receptionist were really nice and helpful. There were also FREE clementines for yogis.
Yoga mat rental is $ 1. And you can buy water also. My only gripe about this studio is that the bathroom is not inside the studio. And I would have to say that the bathrooms aren’t the nicest and there is no toilet paper or paper towels. But don’t worry, the studio has a «toilet caddy» you can take with you into the bathroom and Mimi will even let you borrow her flip flops to go into the bathroom.
Mimi was a wonderful instructor. Our class was 7 people, with mostly newbies. She was able to cater to beginners and also more advanced students. Her instruction was very easy to follow and honestly, I wished Mimi was my instructor when I first started yoga. My practice wouldn’t have been so confusing in the beginning. You can tell she really believes in yoga and that’s why I believe in her too!
I got a great workout and got a good sweat on! The class was only supposed to be for an hour, but Mimi ended up teaching for more than 90 minutes. I love the dedication and attention she put into our small class. I really felt special!
Thanks again Unilocal and especially Matt for organizing this fun but also productive event! Let’s all do yoga again and soon! All bodies rise!
