Hobos know best. Blame it being one door down the busy subway exit. The poor, tired, commuters yearning to pour off a long day at work. Blame that sheltered subway entrance, where in the quiet of after-rush hours the self-illusioned bums turn in and bed down, having scored or not scored some liquor from panhandling change. Blame the steady traffic of cabs, bus, and cops that keep all things mingle moving. There’s the 24-hour deli, phone card vendors, eateries and the Bollywood movie house. Or just blame the solid low prices. And this is not a shady joint, inside and outside. Friendly staff and not pushy at all. I browsed for like 20 – 30 minutes once just to see their selection. Liquors, liquers, and even mixers! And things are better organized and labeled on shelves than most liqour stores in Jackson Heights, even though this place is kinda tight and narrow. Place is well lit, and clean. Bonus: This store is open on Sunday. The Wine selection is kinda thin here, but hey maybe that’s why you won’t find the obnoxious winos hanging out here… as opposed to the store under the train tracks on Roosevelt(but that’s another review). Anyway, I’d go to a wine shop if I got a date to impress. And yes, I’m single and available. :D
