Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store restaurant serves three delicious Southern buffets daily. We have an authentically recreated 1890’s Ice Cream Parlor & Fudge Shoppe, charming Southern Gift Shop and the convenient Old Country Store’s Dixie Café Takeout or Dine In. Established in 1965.

It all started back in 1965. An antique collection became an antique museum that grew into a Southern restaurant. It’s one of the few places where you can really experience the South you grew up in or imagined.

Business Owner

Clark’s Old Country Store story began when he was 10 years old and his parents opened the Old Country Store as an antique museum. Even before that he and his family made wonderful memories collecting antiques in the early 1960’s. Clark started out with the company moving antiques when he was a teenager then began working in the dish-​room as the fastest dishwasher around. He literally grew up working at the Old Country Store doing various jobs such as cashier and manager. Today he is our CEO and co-​owner of the company.

BEST MAC AND CHEESE EVER.
Seriously though. Seriously. I haven’t had mac and cheese that good in so long. I seriously want their recipe and hope it isn’t just «add shit tons of salt» because it was heaven and we all agreed it was amazing. The dumplings were also delicious, with thin dumplings (which means no uncooked dough in the middle) and lots of chicken.
Anywho, we stopped here for noms because we figured a buffet would be quick and mom had been here before and just gotten dessert (but not at the buffet). This place is actually like three food places all combined into one Cracker-​Barrel esque store. It was pretty cool and we all agreed we would come back anyway since the buffet was so food. But I am excited to try out different parts of it as well. Oh, do check that your buzzer works as ours wasn’t.

My wife and I attended her mother’s 80th birthday celebration here in late September. Honestly, this place was selected as we’d eaten here before and it was fairly good, and it was the only restaurant we found that would accept reservations on a Saturday evening in Jackson.
Although the start of our meal was a fiasco when trying to get a party of 25+ seated at once, everything eventually fell into line. Was our dinner superb? No. It was simply a good inexpensive country buffet in Jackson, TN– just as it’s supposed to be.
Throughout the meal, I saw wait staff almost running around getting tea, water, etc., They were busy, yet very courteous when I asked them for anything.
We found that two of us had paid for my wife’s mother’s meal while there. We went to the manager, introduced ourselves, explained what had happened, then had a refund for one of the meals in-​hand within three minutes. That is great customer service! Thank you.

We stopped here for dinner at the suggestion of our hotel desk person. If you like old country style food, it was very good. Well seasoned and very nice staff. We would come here again!

When you’re out of town, and especially on the road for long periods… food is gross, salt laden, expensive, and boring.
Brooks Shaw’s was like a beam of sunlight through the clouds… VEGETABLES! I could get them. You’ll never realize how much you missed a good salad or side veg when all your options are only those that include fries. We stopped for lunch and used a coupon from their site that made lunch $ 7…a deal and a half! The line was out the door within a few minutes of us sitting down.
They had a big salad bar with a good spring mix salad with lots of greens, not iceburg. The pickled okra was really great. Fried Chicken, hoe cakes, pepper corn bread, turnip greens, collard greens, rice, corn, potatoes, gravy, and more than a few things this yankee couldn’t identify but tasted great. It will surely be a spot we visit in the future to get some great southern food and a nice change from road fare.
A lot of reviews seem to focus on the fried items… they had all sorts of non-​fried items in my opinion. If you like your greens.

This place was OK… nothing great and surprisingly pricey. We stopped by for lunch on Saturday on our way to Nashville… it was actually quite crowded. Lunch at the AYCE buffet was $ 10 each, and another $ 1.99 each for a soda… so for the two of us, with tax and tip, it ran us $ 30. Kids under four eat free.
The main proteins were fried and BBQ chicken, pulled pork, and fried catfish… there were a lot of traditional Southern sides, but all in all, selection was somewhat limited (not like those ubiquitous Asian buffets). There was a large salad bar, a soup, and a chili.
The fried chicken and catfish were pretty good, though a little greasy. They were hot and juicy, though they could have used some more seasoning. They kept up a nice supply of freshly fried product throughout the meal. They also had freshly fried hoecakes (jonnycakes for those Yankees out there)…nicely crisp and hot off the griddle. And there was a nice banana pudding with ‘nilla wafers. Nothing else too exciting, really.

One weekend. Two trips! We decided to make a trip to Memphis from Nashville and I had heard about this place on Tennessee Crossroads. The Friday night buffet was excellent and complete with the biggest ribs you could ask for and falling apart pork. We really enjoyed every part of it. We then decided to stop on Sunday on the way back to Nashville. Sunday afternoon price is the same as the Friday night price, but the offerings were not the same level. I would have liked to see the ribs or some type of beef offering or shredded pork. It was a little disappointing that way, but the taste of the items they offered was excellent. Overall, I would go back and pick a Friday or Saturday and hope to see those ribs again!

Its decent southern food in a nice atmosphere. The wait staff are very friendly as well. You will inevitably eat WAY to much. Wear your «fat pants» with the elastic waistline, because everything on the buffet is good and fattening.

I’ve eaten here half a billion times. Ok, maybe not that many, but quite a lot over the years.
Old Country Store is the restaurant /​café located inside of Casey Jones Village. They boast of serving up good Southern comfort food. That’s exactly what they do. They have specials every night from fried catfish to chicken and dumplings. If it can be fried, then it more than likely is on the buffet.
I’ve always enjoyed coming here and having breakfast here with my family. We usually do that for Thanksgiving and other various holidays that we can make an excuse for. Flap jacks, sausage, grits, bacon, eggs served like you like ‘em, fruit bar, and everything you can think of. All so good, but yet so gluttonous.
When you leave, you might have a guilty conscience because your belly is so satisfied. No promises on how you be feeling a few hours later though. Consume as much as you please at your own risk. Just don’t come back to me crying because you ate 3 plates too many.
This place is perfect for large groups, families, and couples.

This place advertises good ol’ southern country cooking. This good ol’ southern boy loves ‘good ol’ southern country cooking’ — but this isn’t it! If you like to eat grease, then this is the place for you! Even the pancakes are greasy! Heart attack city!!! How in the world do those tour buses stop here without the passengers being asked to sign waivers???
