Lewis & Clark offers fantastic whitewater rafting trips and beautiful scenic float trips on the Snake River in Jackson Hole, WY. We’re a small, family-run business that emphasized personalized service with very experienced guides and helpful staff. Our small boat whitewater offers the best whitewater ride available in the valley, and all of our equipment is carefully chosen for use on the Snake River. Tasty riverside dinners and discounted early-bird trips are available. Trips are half-day with departures about every two hours. All transportation is included from our convenient location just 3 blocks north of the Jackson Town Square.

History

Established in 1971.

Lewis & Clark was founded in 1971 by Rod Lewis. The company innovated the U-Paddle concept on Jackson Hole. Others followed. Current owners James Peck and Karen Youngblood bought the company in 1994. When the USFS attempted to remove smaller rafts from commercial operations in 1997, they successfully appealed the decision. No company has operated scenic float trips on the South Park section of the Snake than Lewis & Clark.

Coming from a small town, I have come to know a good sign of a well-run family business is a friendly dog sitting outside and greeting people. Our trip was so fun and our raft guide, Zach, was great! We took our time enjoying the river (raft guide jokes and all) while watching other rafting companies zoom past us, getting their jobs done ASAP. If you’re looking for a well-run, affordable, honest family business, this is the rafting company for you! As first time Jackson visitors, we enjoyed feeling the experience was worth every penny, not another tourist trap. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Loved every minute of it! We took the early 8:30am scenic float trip, everything about it was five stars. We reserved the day before, easy process. Our guide was Luke, he was just the right mix of enthusiasm, fun, and informative. Great guide! We saw lots of bald eagles, ospreys and many other birds. Luke was great at pointing them and giving us time to spot and photograph them. I highly recommend Lewis & Clark for your water trips. Their boats are smaller and they take great care of their guests.

Our family of 6 just went on the 8 mile whitewater expedition. We had a great time and Steven was the BEST guide! He really engaged our pre-teens/teens and had us all laughing the whole time. He’s very knowledgeable and made our trip one we will never forget! Definitely ask for Steven if you can! All of the staff were fantastic from check in at the main store, to our bus driver, Larry, to the support staff along the way. This is definitely the best place to make «whitewater» memories with your family while visiting Jackson!

My boyfriend and I went on a small boat for a rafting trip with guide Luke and had an awesome experience! Everyone that we spoke to both before and after the trip was extremely knowledgeable and kind. We were both a bit nervous at first but found that there was the perfect amount of small rapids to get comfortable with prior to the larger, more fun ones. The trip was fairly-priced in our opinion, and we found it to be of the best value compared to others in Jackson Hole, they also provided splash jackets which was very nice and kept is warm! I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking to white river raft near Teton!

Jackson Hole was our final stop after a week touring Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. On our final day in Jackson Hole, we decided to take a scenic float down the Snake River. The reviews for Lewis & Clark were good, so we made a reservation, and I am so glad we did. Our guide was Steven. He was funny and personable, and handled the thousands of questions the young boy in our raft asked him like a champ! We saw multiple bald eagles and ospreys. We had a nice picnic lunch on a small island and met some wonderful people. This float was exactly the relaxation we needed after many days of hiking. I highly recommend Lewis and Clark River Expeditions. The next time we visit, we would like to do the Whitewater trip as well.

Wonderful experience for the whole family. We took the Snake River whitewater trip with 3 kids; 7, 8 and 9. Our river guide Aaron was entertaining and knowledgeable. We were a little nervous about the kids, but Aaron was a great guide and made us feel safe.

Wow, so much fun!!! Our guide Steven was great and we not only had a ton of fun, but met some cool people as well!!! Thanks for taking good care of us and for letting me backflip off the raft. Get the Groupon but tip your guide full fare!!!
Oh and make sure you laugh and scream like little kids, cause life is too short to not enjoy things like this.

While visiting the Grand Teton National Park we decided to take a scenic rafting tour on Snake River. We chose this company because of the great reviews and we weren’t disappointed. Our guide, Claire, was very nice and knowledgeable. We saw about 9 white Hawks, pelicans, wild ducks and the whole trip was exciting and relaxing in the same time.

I had originally planned to take a trip with one of the big outfitters but checked out Groupon and found a special for Lewis & Clark. I am glad I did because we had a great time with a very knowledgeable guide (Aaron). We took a trip early in the season so we ended up being upgraded to a smaller boat at an earlier time. They contacted us well in advance through e-mail, text and phone to remind of us of the trip and to change our trip time. The staff was very helpful at the office and helped us get properly geared up for the cold water. Aaron has been guiding for about 13 years and though he seemed very laid back I could tell by his conversation, his equipment, and his guidance on the trip that he is very safety conscience and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend Lewis & Clark and Aaron.

While in town for our wedding last week, our group of 11 whitewater rafted in two different boats (small 8-man versions) and we had such a blast! Luke and Gavin were our guides and both we fun and interesting in their own ways. Even though the river was dwindling down in the late season, our guides made sure we got in plenty of good thrills and splashes. The float time was a lot of fun, too – incredibly scenic and full of great stories from our guides. We would definitely go again!

My husband and I went on a small boat with guide Aaron. We had a great experience just the right amount of thrill! We ended up being the only two booked for our raft and the manager did a nice job talking with us and helping us decide whether to go alone with the guide. I was very thankful for the Shorty wetsuit and splashguard jacket as I have a tendency to get cold but I was comfortable on this ride in early August with water temperatures of 55 to 60°. We would definitely do it again!

This was my fourth white water rafting trip so I have some experience when comparing and I have to say this was just awesome! We picked the later part of the day/afternoon trip which I think is better as its less crowded and Luke was our guide! Felt safe and entertained the entire way and there was even time to get out and swim for a bit! The guides know what they are doing but you also have to listen closely and do your part too! The dinner after was sooo good I wanted seconds and thirds! The only tip I would say is bring lots of warm clothes and a towel (which we forgot) to dry off with if u are doing the dinner part and also because the ride back is about 10 minutes long and not fun to do with wet clothes!

Lewis and Clark is an awesome company to go white water rafting with. I would definitely recommend them over anyone else anytime, anywhere! The guides make it fun, entertaining, safe, and full of adventure. If you’ve never been, don’t have any interest in going, or want to go on a excitement-packed adventure, I would greatly recommend going white water rafting with Lewis and Clark! You won’t be disappointed! Everyone is so welcoming and just happy to have you aboard! All the guides are awesome! We had Luke and, as a nervous second-timer that I was, he made it worthwhile and leaving me wanting to go again!

We had not planned on taking a white water rafting trip so when we attempted to schedule a last minute trip, we could not get a spot with the first company we called. They referred us to Lewis and Clark White Water expeditions which ended up being the best decision we made. We made our reservation by phone, which was easy and a good experience. When we arrived, we were greeted with their friendly staff & directed to our tour. The equipment was in great shape and the van/bus ride was safe and pleasant.
We did the Combo trip which is the scenic trip in the morning & white water in the afternoon. Our Guide for the scenic trip was Luke & he was knowledgable and very experienced on the river. His enthusiasm for his job was refreshing and made our experience that much more enjoyable. He did an incredible job.
Gavin was our guide for the White water trip and he was professional and knowledgable as well.
I have already referred Lewis and Clark to my niece that is traveling to Jackson Hole, WY next week.
We will definitely book another trip with Lewis and Clark

I’ve done about 6 whitewater rafting trips and I will say that Lewis and Clark was the best yet. The guides were friendly and efficient. Normally I feel like the process up until the rafting takes to long. This was just enough info but not belabored like most companies usually do. The prices were very fair. I highly recommend them.

Top Notch experience!!! Our guide, «Little Luke» made a great trip to Jackson even better! We were there during off peak season so the river was not as crowded and that made it even better! Prices were quite a bit cheaper than other companies for the same exact trip and the customer service was second to none! Keep up the good work guys!

Absolutely fantastic trip! This was my second time with them in 10 years and these guys are great. This time around the water was VERY high as it’s early in the season so water was flowing quickly.
The guide, Brad, was great! My boyfriend actually fell in and the instructions on recovery were well used. He was pulled back in quickly and was back at the bow if the raft ready for more!
The rapids we went through are exhilarating to say the least.
Such a great experience all around. I highly recommend them!

The office and meet-up location is a little bit off the beaten track on North Cache, but when you find them you will not be disappointed by your experience. I took my family whitewater rafting down the Snake on the evening dinner trip. From start to finish we had the highlight of our trip to Jackson.
Our river guide (Matt) was a blast, and running the river had my 6 year old on the edge of her seat the whole time. We had wonderful views and got completely soaked. My oldest daughter even got to jump into the river at one of the calmer points.
We had a wonderful salmon dinner/picnic beside the river afterward.
The whole operation is run by a local Jackson family and I found the service to be outstanding. I felt like we were their top priority the whole time we were there. This was money well spent!
