History

Established in 2007.

Sal & Mookie’s is the creation of well known Jackson restaurateurs Dan Blumenthal and Jeff Good. «I love pizza.» says Chef/Owner Dan Blumenthal, «Always have! And I wanted to bring real New York style pizza to Jackson. The huge pies, the authentic toppings, the brick-lined ovens, the classic dough… all of it! So I worked for the better part of a year with the Sal & Mookie’s Chef, Jon Pixler, on a dough recipe and basic red sauce until we felt we got it right.»

It would seem that Jacksonians agree… go to Sal & Mookie’s any night and it is packed with families enjoying their expansive menu of incredible pies, all named after New York landmarks and people: The Central Park, Gennaro Lombardi, Empire State, Arthur Avenue (The Bronx), The Bowery, Times Square, Meat Packing District, Andy Warhol, Riker’s Island, 4 Train, CBGB’s, Hell’s Kitchen, South Street Seaport, and the Gambino to name but a few!
