I am very pleased with the quick and top-​notch service I received for my oil change at the SpeeDee in Jackson, Ca. Besides the quick oil change, they also gave me a heads up that my front tires were worn on the far inside and would need replacement very, very soon. I realize this could be an additional sales item for them, but in this case they were down to the thread and a safety issue. I had no idea they were out of alignment and wearing where I was not checking.

$ 81.98 for an oil change? I realize that they did extra service; replace oil filter and add new oil, diagnostic check, power steering fluid… But, I have never paid $ 80 for parts & labor at SpeeDee Oil, where I lived, in the SF Bay area! They did not put a sticker on the windshield to report when the next oil change is due. I realize that they did a good job. The service team informed me about all they were going to do, but I never thought it would cost that much! They hurried me through and did extra service that I did not ask for, like washing the car. I was happy until I saw the bottom line.

I’m not a happy customer. I took my truck in last week because the charging system warning light was on. I suggested to the mechanic that either the battery wouldn’t hold a charge, or the alternator was going out. He tested the battery which was OK but the battery terminals were corroded and one of the terminal connectors was cracked. He said that was the problem. He cleaned the terminals then replaced the terminal connecters. He was ready to have me settle up on the bill, when I (not the mechanic) checked the warning light again and found it still on. It was then that he fumbled around trying to check the alternator output from underneath my truck. Finally the manager came out and checked the alternator’s output where the cables connect with the battery. I needed a new alternator and was given a quote of $ 655.51. This all took about 90 minutes. Thinking the estimate was high, I told them I’d think about it. I ended up being billed and paying $ 69 plus for the new terminals. When I told the manager I was not happy with the alternator not being checked in the first place, he told me if I decided to have the alternator repaired there he would deduct the $ 69 from the $ 655.51. SO, I thought that was a reasonable gesture, but still decided to sleep on it as I was not confident that the mechanic (not the manager) knew what the heck he was doing.
I went to Gold Country Auto Clinic in Jackson this morning. They checked the charging system again, and came the to same result as SpeeDee, that my alternator needed replacing. BIG DIFFERENCE though… Gold Country ordered, had it delivered, and installed a new alternator in an hour and 15 minutes, and I was out the door with a final bill of $ 338.01!!! That’s over $ 300 less than SpeeDee wanted to charge me.
I’ve been a regular at SpeeDee for oil changes over the last 7 – 8 years and always fornd employees friendly. I tolerate the usual sales pitch to replace the air filter, other fluids etc, and even the stripping of my truck’s drain plug about 2 years ago (they replaced it with a larger plug). BUT this particular experience leaves me lacking confidence in their ability to do quality work… AND the difference in the quote SpeeDee gave me, and what I actually paid at Gold Country is just not accepatable… and I’m still out the $ 69 plus at SpeeDee. They no longer have my business.

Super friendly and quick service. They offer free courtesy service which was a nice surprise and no one treated me like I was an idiot or tried to sell me things I don’t need (seems to happen quite a bit at car places… that’s what you get for being blond, I guess). If you know me you’d be suprised I gave this place 5 stars because they have a pet bird in the waiting room. I am terrified of birds so the 20 minute wait was hard. But the service and the speed made my 20 minute visit with a bird worth it.

So I had a screw in my tire, it wasn’t a pebble! I just bought a new set less than six months ago from a different Midas location. I looked up Midas on my YP app and found this Midas nestled under SpeeDee.
I thought it would be an easy plug job, but after careful consideration from the SpeeDee– Midas staff, the screw was too close to the edge of the tire, making a plug job too unsafe. Luckily, I had purchased the 60,000 mile warranty and Ryan honored the receipt of warranty, ordered me a new tire, and had me stop in the next day to replace. It was quick and better than a plug. Unfortunately, my «damn, when will that pebble shake lose,» thoughts had me driving over a week on a low aired tire; I bent my rim. :-/​But! The Midas guys handled it successfully! They got me back on the road safely and just in time to make my appointment. So pleased.
I really liked the knowledgeable professionalism, their honest concern for my safety, and the friendly customer service — especially the love they gave my dog! Dwayne, Ryan, Kelly, and the all the boyz — Thank you!

Really like this shop, staff is friendly, informative and quick to get the job done. Although, the last time I went in for an oil change, the 17 point inspection wasn’t completed; as in my carpet wasn’t vacuumed and they left a stain from a greasy boot on my car mat. Probably an accident, I’ll give some leway this time, sure to let them know next time if it happens. Other than that would highly recommend.

I meant to leave this review a few months ago, but hadn’t had the time to since its a long one.
I used to always take my car to SpeeDee for an oil change and some basic services. They were great until I started having issues with my brakes.
My brakes started making squeaking sounds which annoyed me, so I took my car in for a free brake inspection (you get what you pay for). They said everything seemed okay and it was probably just the composition of the brakes. They even test drove my car and said it was normal. The tech said he heard the squeaks but insisted they were normal.
A couple of months later, my brakes were sounding REALLY bad. I took my car in again to get checked out, and again, they told me my brakes were fine. I made sure to ask them if it was a major issue and what caused the sounds because it was starting to sound like it was grinding on something. Their brake «specialist» told me that it was NOT a safety issue and that it was probably just the composition of the brake material. He told me that he can’t «tell me to change my brakes because it is against the company’s policy», but he said its up to me. Really «specialist»? I brought my car in to YOU to figure out what was wrong, but you «can’t tell me to change my brakes.» Makes no sense to me why their open for business if they can’t tell customers what their cars need. (Oh, but they’re really good about telling you to get new air filters to tag an extra $ 30+ to your bill! Your car might not be able to brake well/​quietly, but don’t worry, your air will be clean –_​-​)
Finally, the grinding sound was so bad and was really scaring me, so I took my car into a different local shop (around the corner from SpeeDee on Hwy 49) about a week later. Within 20 minutes, they told me that my brakes were in need of replacement and should have been replaced months prior. MONTHS PRIOR.
I called SpeeDee and told a manager how upset I was. He sounded apologetic, but jumped to a conclusion that the other car place was «probably just trying to sell you new brakes, because the specialist said I didn’t need them.» Um… YES THEY WERE TRYING TO SELL ME NEW BRAKES, BECAUSE MY CAR NEEDED THEM! I asked the new place to save the brakes for me because I was having a friend look at them. Even he said the brakes should have been replaced a while back.
I own a business in Amador County, and I will NEVER send any of my customers to SpeeDee because of their ignorance and lack of safety precautions. After I spoke to the SpeeDee manager, he called me back once about 20 minutes later, but there was never any follow up ever again. In case that manager is wondering, my car is running perfectly fine, and my brakes are nice and quiet.

Stopped by for an oil change. Took about 30 – 40 mins, staff was friendly. Had a $ 10 coupon! :) left happy!

Been going here for my automotive needs as far as routine maintenance and tires for a couple years now, and I always receive top notch customer service, and car care. I recommend them to family and friends because of their reliable and efficient service. I will definitely continue taking my car there.

Very helpful, very affordable, very friendly and knowledgable staff … I have been in a few times and will continue to bring my car to this trustworthy business. As a single woman it’s nice to know there’s a place that won’t sell you more than what’s needed.

I’m really not sure how to figure this business out. My oil change was prompt and all service techs were courteous and helpful. I was told I also had power steering and oil pan leaks. Looked to me like normal road grease.
After concerns by owner Troy, I understand his concerns and my possible observation in his business. I have changed my 2 star rating to 4 stars, as he does care, along with his techs. Only negative was quote for rack and pinion replacement rather than power steering leak. I think there may have been miscommunication between techs on price quote.

Best place to get an oil change!
Quick, reliable, honest, they show you things & explain before they do something and they always come in under the projected price.

I’ve taken all my cars to this Speedee Midas location several times and have always been treated very well.
All the mechanics are extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. I’m always in and out in a timely fashion for a reasonable price.
Can’t beat the quality service and professionalism here. I’d recommend this location to anyone!

I thought everything was fine. In fact, felt really good about my experience with midas. Knowing I was hard up for the money, I even received a customer service call afterwards wondering if I was satisfied. The kid that called said to me «I just want to make sure you are happy since we were able to save you so much money on the parts. We want your service again.». I said, «um. I didn’t get a discount on the parts?». He says «oh my mistake» and hangs up. I sent my husband down to figure this out. The manager wanted to know how to solve the issue. I just wanted the difference or the «savings» considering I did my homework and they marked up the parts by 75%. The manager went to talk to the owner outside. He followed. What they didn’t know was as the OWNER was citing how «everyone in this county wants shit for nothing and tell him if he signed it too fucking bad» that my husband heard the whole conversation and other customers who turned around and left. The manager came back to my husband and said «too bad you signed it» and «shooed» him away with his fingers. Who do you think you are treating any customer (especially one who just gave you $ 415 cash to fix their car) like that??? I am a business owner in this county and will be telling everyone how YOU the owner feels about the residents of the community. We don’t want anything for free. But you need to train staff. If you aren’t passing along your savings to your customers, then don’t call them and tell them about it. Guess what? I also canceled our plans for 4 new tires. We will wait for America’s Tire to finish being built. And i will continue to tell the residents of this community about your derogatory comments about them.

Last year I had a great experience with this shop. This time not so much! I will never ever take my car back there. They had my car for 5 days without touching it. Did not call to tell me the mechanic called in sick. I find out the night before I am to pu the car that it hasn’t even been started. It just gets worse from there.

Just moved to Sutter Creek and needed an oil change on our Hummer 3. The manager greeted me upon arrival and explained to me my options and gave me his honest opinion. He was so very friendly. There were a few customers ahead of me, and during the oil change a worker came out to explain each issue or option. Everyone was very friendly, and the pricing was fair. Its nice knowing there is a quick and affordable place to go to that’s nearby.

The folks here were very nice. I wasn’t sure what service I needed but had a few things I specifically wanted. They simply start with an oil change and run through your car with a fine tooth comb. They are very friendly, and their prices do not seem out of order. I would recommend them, and I will go back to them.
