I’ve had Chew Chew before and a long time ago at the Jaxson’s Night Market. It was very good then so I expected it to be just as good when I saw that they would be nearby the job today. I decided to get two items because I missed breakfast and ate an early dinner the night before. I ordered the Lobster Corn Dogs and the Caprese Melt and had them in my hands in no time. I really appreciate that they put them in to-go boxes, literally. These were actual cardboard boxes. Back to the office. I took them out the boxes and put them on a plate to take photos, but the more I looked at the lobster corn dogs the more I realized that they weren’t very photogenic. As long as they taste good right? I’m not big on corn dogs but I love lobster so I thought this would be interesting, and it was. It’s like lobster hushpuppies on a skewer with a side of lemon honey mustard dipping sauce. Not bad. As far the Caprese Melt which is tomatoes and fresh mozzarella and parmesan crusted sourdough, I wasn’t feeling the bread at all. Perhaps it was too hard for me. The guts of the sandwich were really good. I shoulda added bacon to it because you know, bacon makes everything better. I’d give them another shot but I really would want to try something that’s off-menu next time.

Tried them for lunch for the first time today. Had the«General Tso’s Chicken Tacos.» Outstanding! I really wish there was a Chinese restaurant or a Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville that understood flavor like these guys.

It has so much potential but failed on my lunch today. I ordered Shrimp Tacos and received 3 tacos and chips. The written menu says they are topped w. Napa cabbage and pineapple salsa. Instead they were topped with an chopped iceberg lettuce, like you get at Publix for salad mix. The pineapple salsa turned out to be tiny pieces of pineapple. If they were topped w/Napa cabbage and pineapple salsa, it would be great meal. The tortilla overwhelmed the tacos because it was mostly flour tortilla in the tacos. I hope to try again w/the Napa cabbage & salsa.

Never have I had a meal here and said that was pretty good. These guys always know it out the park. I also like how they are always running specials and changing up the menu. Highly recommend visiting them.

I’ve been meaning to get this review done because I keep talking about it to everyone. Perspective… Went to Portland within the last year and this food truck was better than some there! We(family) enjoyed it at the beer festival in wet weather it was drizzly and cold, but nonplussed we «chew chewed» on lobster tempura on a skewer, Bahn mi(or I think it was called the«Korean short rib sandwich with house or truck made slaw») and hands down it was delicious! I figured by the line it was the only real game in town although five trucks were there. Bravo!

The lobster corn dog, $ 10, was overcooked.

I had a chance encounter with the Chew Chew truck and I’m glad I can cross this one off my list of must eat food trucks. I was tempted to order those lobster corn dogs so bad but the Korean bbq sandwich peaked my interest and I just had to try it. It was tasty and filling. The favors worked well together and the Kim chi slaw balanced that sweet from the sandwich really well. My sandwich was a little on the dry side but it was still a solid all round tasty sandwich. Next time I’m trying that lobster on a stick for sure.

Chew Chew gives a good name to food trucks! We’re from a land where food trucks/carts are for fairs and festivals only, so seeing them elsewhere is culture shock for me — but I like it! We came to the release of Underdark 2015 at Intuition Ale Works in Riverside, and this baby was parked right in the street! So we checked it out, and we’re very pleased! I ordered the lobster corn dogs, based on the many good things I read about them here on Unilocal, and my wife got the caprese grilled cheese, sans bacon(only a $ 1 upgrade if you’re interested). The lobster corn dogs are not really what they sound — there is no hot dog in them, nor did I expect there to be, just don’t be fooled by the name. They are Maine lobster pieces skewered, coated in a thin batter resembling the casing of a corn dog, and then deep fried to perfection. They were very good — they are paired with a mustard sauce for dipping which makes the flavor just right. Lobster was tender, not tough, but I was sad that they were smaller than I imagined. We received three small skewers, but it is lobster so I guess there is reason to that. The caprese grilled cheese was great, too! I always love the mix of pesto, mozzarella, and tomato — pair it with buttered toasted bread and you’ve got yourself a great bite to eat! I’m very satisfied with our choice to eat from the Chew Chew food truck. If you spot it, take a dive and try it out!

Blake is doing amazing things and creating some super tasty, mind blowing dishes that you need to check out. The first thing I tried from Chew Chew were the lobster corn dogs. Everything tastes better fried and on a stick, right? The flavor is sweet and intense, for sure! I would recommend getting an order to share… they are very rich(and delicious) but I found myself unable to finish the entire order. If you see the Korean Short rib BBQ Melt on the menu, do your taste buds a favor and order that puppy up! Tender and moist, there will be a flavor explosion in your mouth, with the sweetness of the BBQ, the spiciness of the kimchi slaw… and who am I kidding, that had me at kimichi slaw. This was a truly excellent sandwich and if Korean BBQ is your thing, don’t miss out. Now the General Tso Chicken wrap came as a complete surprise to me. When Adam ordered it, I was having a few nightmares of Chinese delivery dinners past, but when offered up a bite, I was blown away. Spicy, chicken was fresh and delicious, and I may have(ok, totally) ate the rest of Adam’s wrap the next day, for breakfast! Chew Chew is doing great things, and I’m looking forward to the next time I catch them out and about!

Had another chance to chew on some bites from Chew Chew. I had tried the lobster corn dogs previously and while they were good, I wasn’t bowled over. I wanted something to knock me off my feet. I’ve had cheesy/melty sandwiches on my mind lately, so I was focused on the Caprese Melt & the Korean Short Rib Melt. Which one to choose? I went with the Korean Short Rib melt. It was fantastic. Packed with flavor it met every mark and surpassed it. It was hard to remind myself to slow down and enjoy it. I loved it so much, I almost considered ordering another one to go to have of lunch the next day. I will definitely have to track down Chew Chew next time I’m out & about with nothing to do.

Enjoyed this all-star at Intuition Ale Works last night and was very impressed! My only regret: not having a bigger stomach to eat more of their delicious food! The Bruschetta Grilled Cheese is quite possibly the greatest thing ever conceived on a food truck menu. Bravo!

A successful food truck business had to offer something that sets then apart from all the other food trucks. Chew Chews does exactly that. Lobster Corn Dog? Who does that? Chew Chews is who. It is simply amazing. Equally awesome is the Caprisee sandwich made on fresh, thick slices of grilled sourdough bread. We didn’t stop there because they offer the Caprisee with bacon. That really took it over the tip with the flavor explosion that took place. Since this was a Unilocal event?, we got to taste samplings of their tacos, fried zucchini, Korean BBQ Short Rib Melt. Each dish was made fresh and was very tasty.

In case you’ve not already heard, stop what you’re doing and get yourself some lobster corn dogs! I already am a fan of anything«corn dog» inspired(other fans should check out Derby on Park’s Corn Dog!), and the lobster corn dogs from Chew Chew are a new personal favorite. You get three small tempura-fried«dogs» to an order, and they’re served with a deliciously tangy mustard sauce. My lobster was perfectly cooked, sweet, and tender. No chewiness here, and frankly, better prepared than other lobster I’ve had in some«fine dining» restaurants! Be sure to save that mustard sauce because you’re going to want to dunk your kettle chips in it! We also enjoyed the Korean BBQ Melt. They use short ribs(ok, they had me at short ribs), melted Gouda Cheese(an under-appreciated cheese in my book!), and top it all with a spicy kimchee coleslaw. Served on two thick slices of sourdough, this sandwich will satisfy any appetite! We actually couldn’t eat it all at once so I’m also happy to report that this sandwich keeps well and we enjoyed it later in the day as well(FYI for those whose eyes are bigger than their stomachs!) One thing I particularly enjoyed about visiting Chew Chew was the two gentlemen working the truck. Genuinely friendly, they were excited to talk about their menu and interested in talking to the customer. We got there when there was no one else in line so it was nice to have a moment to chat with these lovely folks. Clearly, these guys understand how to combine sweet/sour/salty flavors in their dishes and are OK with using more high end ingredients to achieve delicious results! I’ll keep my eye on these guys to keep pushing the envelope and take some risks with their flavors and culinary inspirations, I feel that they absolutely have the capacity to make some home runs!

I love love love food trucks. Fast, delicious & usually parked somewhere near good beer. Chew chew was no different. We enjoyed the lobster corn dogs, shrimp tacos & carnitas burrito. All were delicious & fresh! Would recommend chew chew for a unique, fast food option.

I got a chance to taste some Chew Chew at the Jaxsons Night Market. There were a couple of food trucks to chose from, but Chew Chew had the most interesting menu. We picked three items off their menu… Deep South Spring Roll, Korean BBQ Lettuce Wraps & the Lobster Corndogs. Out of the three, the spring rolls were by far my favorite. The rolls were filled with smoked chicken, collard greens(yes I said collard greens), and sweet corn. The rolls were served with grilled peach BBQ Sauce. The only thing I hate is that there were only 2 rolls. They were so damn amazing. The Lobster Corndogs were different. I must say I have never had lobster fried. These were really really good. The outside texture was just like a corn dog but had that definite lobster flavor on the inside. The lemon dijon honey mustard added some great flavor. The short ribs were very flavorful, they matched well with the crispy romaine cups. I will be keeping up with Chew Chew’s whereabouts. They have some great tasting food and I like the fusion in their menu. Can’t wait to try them again!

I had some really good blackened shrimp tacos with pineapple salsa. The truck was setup at a credit Union on Touchton Rd. near southside. The guys working in the truck were really nice and friendly and the service was fast. The shrimp were cooked just right as well(it’s easy to overcook them in my opinion). If you’re looking for something unique, I recommend trying this food truck!

I know I’m gonna be alone in this… I don’t like it. Tried this food once before(Fish Tacos) and I remember the food being okay but nothing remarkable. I’m downtown with some friends and we see a food truck area. This place had the longest line so I decided to give it another try. I mean everyone can’t be wrong. Goat cheese polenta fries — these were just ok BBQ Spring Rolls — these were ok but the ketchup bbq sauce was a downgrade Korean BBQ Short Rib Melt — it sounded so amazing. Short rib, smoked cheese on a toasted & buttered bread with a side of coleslaw. Looked beautiful. Tasted blah! Maybe I should have gotten the sliders? Everyone that ordered those weren’t willing to share. Maybe I’m just not a food truck person? Not bad … just OK.

One if the best in town if not the best. I really don’t know how this got here but what the Hell. Blake and Lance put out some of the best food from a truck out there today. I know On The Fly does really good too and these guys are right on their heels. I have been eating with them for as long as they have been cooking. I know both chef’s are culinary grads and have worked in some of the great restaurant here in town. The list includes some like The Corner Bistro(tapestry park) Eleven South and The Speckled Hen. To me there are a few things that you just have to try. Like the Lobster Corndogs, the short rib melt, or the grilled cheese. I know there’s another truck with grilled cheese but this one blows it away. Sorry Anthony. So find these guys on Jax Truckies(facebook) and eat their food. Believe me I know.
