RPM Automotive the Avenues

I highly recommend RPM Automotive in the Avenues Mall area. My car completely broke down yesterday. I Googled mechanics in the area and lucked upon Bobby at RPM. I called just before they closed. Bobby picked me up, drove me to Hertz rental, went in with me to request RPM’s rate, and took my car key. He then arranged for a tow to his shop and expertly repaired my car in under 24 hours. Amazing customer service! I’ll be a customer for life.

My family has been taking our cars here since before I started driving. In the past 12 – 15 years we’ve gotten nothing but stellar, personal service.
When I was a teenager driving & (slowly) learning how to take care of my car, one of the girls at the front desk took me into the garage & showed me the various things to check for & pay attention to. (Air filter, oil level ect.)
Bobby who (I think?) runs the place knows our family only through RPM, but always remembers us, and asks about each of us when we go in.
It is a little bit pricier, but I personally feel like you pay for what you get. In this case, you’re getting great, personal service & car care w/​integrity.

So I went to Tires plus to get my tires rotated and my oil changed on my Civic (180k) and they brought me into the garage and showed me all kinds of issues like a leaking half-​shaft, leaking valve cover gasket, and bad ball joints. And my back tires were worn badly on the inside. They wanted about $ 900 for all the work, not including alignment, and they recommended getting 4 new tires. I decided to get a second opinion and took my car to RPM. They gave me a better quote with the alignment so I set up an appointment for the afternoon so I would have time to get new tires first. I went to discount tires on Philips and Baymeadows (I bought tires for my wife’s car there and liked them quite a bit) and they said I would be fine with just the back tires being replaced. Kudos to discount tires even though this is a RPM review. So, with my TWO new tires on the car I went back to RPM for the alignment and all the other work. After looking at my car for 15 minutes or so they told me «THEY COULDN’T SELL ME ANYTHING WITH A CLEAR CONSCIENCE». That is something I never thought I would hear at an auto shop. There was a little residue on the axle, which they said would amount to adding some fluid every couple years (if the residue was even from a leak). They found almost no oil residue around the valve cover gasket, and the ball joints didn’t seem to have any issues. The mechanic said the rubber boots were a little torn, but he had seen them go 60−80k with the boot completely torn off, so he wasn’t worried about it. So when it was all said and done, I bought 2 tires, and got an alignment instead of 4 tires, a half shaft, ball joints, and a valve cover gasket. Kudos to RPM for being honest.
