Showed up on time, worked hard and were great to work with!

They helped me move on a Friday morning, near the end of Oct. 2015. The guy who answered the phone was nice and efficient. I was happy that they were available when I called only 2 days before the moving day. Minimum 2 hours worth cost was required.
On the moving day, they were 1 hour late but they did call me in the early morning to let me know that they were running late, so that wasn’t too bad. Three guys came with a Budget truck. They were all friendly, but they looked tired already. They finished the job within the time I expected, although they weren’t the most efficient/​energetic movers from my experience.
It was almost alright until one of the movers asked me how much my rent was. Then he commented on it to another mover in the hallway, and he was loud enough for me to hear it. It wasn’t professional and I was not happy about his comment. The lead guy left his belongings at my old place and again at the new place, I had to run downstairs twice to give them back to him. Still found he left his sunglasses after they left…

Last week Dragonfly Movers aka Local Logistics helped us move from the first floor to the second floor. They called the day of to confirm, arrived exactly on time. JC and Boodoo couldn’t have been more courteous and professional. We had a couch that couldn’t fit up the stairs and they hoisted it up over the balcony like they had done it a 1000 times. We took a video of it. Thanks Brian for arranging it, everything went perfectly!

Dragonfly Movers aka Local Logistics should be avoided. I hired them to move my things from an apartment in Boston to my home in Redwood City. That was May 22^nd. I haven’t heard a word since then. I’ve left dozens of phone calls, sent a handful of emails and they have not returned a single call. It’s August and I don’t have my things nor do I know where they are or if/​when I’ll ever see them again. I chose them as I was trying to give business to a local, privately owned company.
I couldn’t be more unhappy with them.

NEVER NEVER NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS MOVING COMPANY. YOU WILL REGRET EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM. If I could give them no stars I would. They made the stress of moving worse than it ever needed to be. We scheduled them to do our move on June 29^th at 1pm. I know movers can run late so when Hale called me to tell me he would be about an hour late I thought ok no worries and at least he called. He showed up with a tiny Budget rental truck and a guy who could not lift anything because he had been hurt at a pervious job. I told Hale everything had to be out that afternoon because we had our buyers coming through. He assured me it would be. When I told him it would not all fit in the truck he said that he had another truck on the way. The big truck they use had transmission problems so he had gotten two smaller trucks. Again a little nervous but was trying to go with things. Hale and the other guy with him loaded the small truck for about 2 hours and then said they were going to get the other truck. Hale said his guys were still at another job so they had to go get the truck from them. Again worried and getting more worried as it was already 5pm. I told them that they NEEDED to come back that night because we had to have the house empty. Hale said yes he would be back. at 6pm I get a phone call saying that Hale could not get the other truck and he would not be back that night. He said he could come at 6:30am the next morning. I was freaking out by this point. I needed the stuff out of our house and he just casually told me it wasn’t going to work. When I pushed back he said well you didn’t leave any room for error. Who says that! There should be no error when you hire a company who moves people every day.
So the 30^th comes and at 6:45 3 guys show up with an even smaller truck. Once again I am pissed. I ask them where the big truck is. They tell me another truck will be here in half an hour. I did not for one minute believe them. I got on the phone with Hale and he told me that a truck would be there soon. My wife and I went to the closings for our sale and our buy. We came back to the house just to make sure they were gone. We arrived 3 hours after we were told a truck was on its way. We drove up to the rest of our stuff on the sidewalk in front of the house and a mover sitting there waiting for the truck that we were told was on its way 3 hours earlier. We were furious. It took another 2 hours for the movers to get there with a truck. They had to unload both small trucks into the garage of our new house and then come back and get the last load.
In the midst of all this they managed to scratch many walls quiet significantly and lost pieces to bookcases and our bench to our table. We have a murphy bed and they put in on the sidewalk and scratched an entire side of it and bent the wood on the bottom. The three guys who moved us the second day of the move were very nice and were also given the run around by Hale. They too had no idea what was taking so long. At one point Hale spoke with me and told me one thing and then called one of the movers and told him a totally different story.
Then they presented me with a bill and thought I was going to pay what they said it should have cost. I refused and paid what I thought was far. The three guys worked hard however they are not the most careful movers.
I have called to speak with someone in charge who is not Hale and no one has returned my phone calls. I have called several times and gotten nothing. I was told by the head mover when they left that the manager was going to call me. That has never happened. I am DISGUSTED by this company and I wouldn’t tell my worse enemy to use them.
I repeat STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

Dragonfly movers are fantastic! small local company with great resources! i have used them many times over the years, they have always been efficient, affordable and on task!

These guys are amazing. Took very good care of my items, very personable, I recommend them to my friends.

I’ve used Jason and his folks for several moves and never been disappointed. Fair pricing and reliable. I trust them, and I am usually a skeptic. Handled my art with care.

This was my first experience using a moving company rather than getting friends to help me move and I have to say it was definitely a pleasant one. I found out I had to move within very short notice so I was worried about not being able to find a place. But I filled out a quote online with dragonfly and Jason got back to me the same day, which I was really impressed with. He maintained excellent communication with me throughout the process and the actual movers (Allen and Archer, I believe) were absolutely fantastic. They were friendly and helpful and very punctual – early, even. I was able to get out of my old place and into my new one impressively fast. Hopefully I won’t be moving again any time soon but if I do I wouldn’t hesitate to return to dragonfly.

Absolutely horrible experience. Long story short:
Friend recommended Pony Express, but due to scheduling problems and the lack of NYC-​specific insurance (the demands of NYC landlords are ridiculous), he (Josh) couldn’t do it. After a home visit for a quote, I fully expect that working with Pony would have been a great experience.
Checked out Unilocal and saw great reviews for Dragonfly. Called up it and a few others and only a couple called back within a reasonable amount of time. Jason from Dragonfly called back after a couple hours. Talked through things with him, and the quote sounded good. Made an appointment to drop off the (huge!) deposit of 50% of the move. (It should be said that the size of the deposit as a percentage is primarily what was huge, while the overall quote was toward the lower range of what I had gotten elsewhere.) Just so you know, most places don’t ask for ANY deposit at all.
Went toward a street in Jamaica Plain. Turned onto the first street of that name I saw. Sketchy area of Jamaica Plain to say the least. Couldn’t find the place and the area didn’t seem safe at all. Called up Jason and figured out myself that I might be on the wrong street. Amazingly, the right one ([insert name here] Street, Ave, whatever) was only a couple blocks over, and Jason seemed to not even know that there was another of the same name. Who doesn’t know that there is another street of the same name right nearby? (The correct address was right across from a school and slightly better than the surrounding area.)
It was a home office, and the exterior of the home itself was in disrepair. (Now, I don’t care about the neighborhood you live in or the quality of your home, but neither inspired confidence in this business transaction.) The whole time my gut told me to just turn around and walk away. Jason seemed nice enough, though, so I went against my instincts. Wrote the check and put down the deposit after finalizing the details.
Called a couple days before the move to confirm some things and get Jason’s v-​mail, which tells me to call Nick for issues that week. Nick??? Who the hell is Nick? Oh well, I try Nick the morning of the day before our pack-​out day (the plan was to pack out on a Thursday and move on a Friday). No answer. My lease ends very soon, and I’m getting worried. I call back in the afternoon. Nick picks up and says, «Oh hey, I’ve been out on a job all day. Got your message.» «Insurance — taken care of.» «We’ll arrive at 10am.» Sounds like things are good to go.
Next day, Nick and friends show up nearly half an hour late. I meet them outside: «We’ve got a problem: We were going to sub[-contract] your job out, and the company that we were going to sub it out to in NYC doesn’t have the insurance.»
WHAT!!! I had to call around every company serving Boston at 1pm the very day before I was supposed to move down to New York. It was the busy season, and only a miracle saved me.
Anyway, Nick actually seems like a good guy, albeit overwhelmed. He claims that Jason left him in the lurch while he was focusing on another priority (a concert for his band in the middle of Ohio — read: not my move). (Jason recently disputes who actually dropped the ball, but this is NOT my problem.)
I’m fairly certain that Nick drained his own bank account just to return a deposit to me, the customer, since he couldn’t reach Jason, the man with the pursestrings, all day. And to be fair, he busted his rear end to do so. He also apparently made bunch of phone calls to area movers to try and coordinate something. Much appreciated, but in the end all of that doesn’t undo what was done.
By the way, I had heard later that Dragonfly doesn’t even have the proper licensing with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation or something. (In fairness, this might just be hearsay.)
Although Dragonfly apparently has a long history in Jamaica Plain and in Boston at large, I recommend that you, fellow Unilocaler, steer clear from Dragonfly at ALL costs. Remember the old (tired) adage of «You get what you pay for.» And always trust your gut.
PS. I have no idea what the «profile» photo for Dragonfly is. I never saw or talked to those nice-​looking ladies.

Dragonfly movers gave me the best moving experience I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a few.
In terms of care, they compared equally with the super-​expensive fine-​art movers I selected to haul a relative’s houseful of antiques.
I cannot recommend them highly enough. They packed all of my books in just under an hour. (That’s perhaps five floor to ceiling bookshelves.) They packed everything in the apartment into a truck in an hour and a half. They are considerate, smart and capable. They turned something enormously stressful into something really fun.
They are magic.
They could mean your sanity.
Jason, the company’s principal whom I dealt with, is great. He’s gone out of his way to make sure that everything that was non-​standard in my move was taken care of gracefully and that I didn’t feel as though I was asking for something extraordinary, even though, now that I think on it, I really was.
His people are fantastic too.
I’d rate them a million if I could.

I’ve used Dragonfly in the past, and loved their service, and even recommended them to others. That will be no more.
When they moved us, the team hired were not the usual movers (we were told this as an apology by the job supervisor). They crammed our white couch down a stairwell that had signs stating «DO NOT MARK UP WALLS» (by neighbors), and not only chipped the walls, but damaged our couch.
They took ten hours to complete the job. Yes, we had a lot of stuff, but the person running the job (J), kept saying it was because she was not in the truck organizing better. It took two trips.
Not only that, but the movers kept making snide comments about the amount of stuff we owed. I don’t mind friends or family, heck strangers making comments, because I’m not paying them!
Not only was the couch damaged, and the previous location, but a computer desk was damaged.
You would think all of this would get us a discount on the charge. The price of the desk was knocked off, but that was it. Never the couch damages, or the fact it took them so long due to bad organizational skills.
Another friend used them recently, and they broke furniture as well, and it was a fight to get money refunded.
Dragonfly, in my opinion, is going downhill, and it’s a shame.

I’m sure it varies from team to team, but I had a very good experience with Dragonfly movers. I had a three person team (one «captain» type person and two «heavy lifters»), and they were upbeat, hardworking, and moved my stuff with a minimum of scuffs and scratches. Their prices were in line with most other places. They also didn’t make a stink about the «little stuff» (i.e putting the furniture that was taken apart back together, etc).
They don’t use their own trucks, so make sure to let them know as you get closer to move day how big your move is really going to be so they can bring the right size truck and give you a more accurate estimate of the number of hours it’s going to take.

Good GRIEF, these guys are good. I’ve used them twice, once upon arriving in Boston with a MASSIVE Penske truck we’d driven from Tennessee. It had my then boyfriend’s stuff and my stuff (including a lot of very fragile antiques I inherited from my parents). Three movers arrived on time. I was surprised that they were «like me», clearly smart people (led by a woman named «J») with much more than just muscle to offer. Moving isn’t just about lifting. It’s about playing advanced, 3D tetris, and they were up for it. They got everything out of the truck lickety split. I was impressed.
But then I used them again to move out of this apartment one year later. No more boyfriend’s stuff this time (we broke up), but this time, the trick was the little prior notice. I found out I had to move earlier than I thought. I called, and they were able to fit me in two weeks later on August 30^th, right in the heart of moving season. J arrived with two different helpers, one clever enough to quickly figure out how to disassemble my massive antique wardrobe.
J took stock and immediately knew where to start. They were efficient and careful and even offered to help pack some boxes that weren’t completed. They carefully wrapped antiques in blankets and stretch wrap. They cut up trash bags and taped carefully around a large painting I have that isn’t on the sturdiest canvas.
They loaded up the truck, and I sent them off to the storage facility with a key and told them to do their best. Later that night, I was shocked when they called to say they had just finished.
It’s been almost two weeks since the move, and I finally went over to the storage facility to add a few boxes, and WOW! I had no idea that 3D Tetris could be so complex. I had only one box and a few stray items to add, and it took be 45 minutes to add it to their perfectly organized work.
I recommend these people HIGHLY. Seriously. They are VERY good. They are worth every penny.

One word of advice: Realize that you are paying by the hour. They quote is for the first two hours, then after that, it’s hourly (as in, half of the two hour quote). In all the excitement, I spaced that little detail, but when I saw their work at the storage facility, I was so grateful I’d hired them.
