Specialties
Tres Gatos is Boston’s first and only tapas restaurant/book & record store. We offer a from-scratch menu, an all-Spanish wine list, and the finest craft beers. We also offer live music on a regular basis.
History
Established in 2011.
Founder David Doyle opened Rhythm & Muse with his brother Scott in 1998. R&M was never just a book and music store — it was a gathering place, a music venue, an exhibit space, a Scrabble haven and more.
The inspiration for Tres Gatos began after R&M moved to its current location in 2002.
After sampling tapas bars in Seville, Madrid and Barcelona, David and his wife Maricely became convinced that a tapas bar would complement the book and music store perfectly. Eating tapas is about sampling, sharing, and connecting, and that approach fits perfectly with R&M’s role as a neighborhood indie book and music store.
Tres Gatos is the first full-service restaurant, book and record store in Boston, and will proudly continue Rhythm and Muse’s tradition of being a neighborhood hang-out with deep community roots.
Meet the Manager
David D.
Manager
I’ve had what might be called a serpentine career path, including bicycle tour guide, bike messenger, counselor at a homeless shelter, physical therapist, and bookstore owner. I wrote screenplays for a while, too, but couldn’t figure out how to pay the bills that way.
Tres Gatos compiles under one roof some of my favorite things on the planet: great food, wine, beer, books and music, and a warm and welcoming hang-out space for friends and community.
I can’t say Tres Gatos is the end of my career path, but I am looking forward to a pretty lengthy stopover…
